We went to Martha's when my co-workers and I were in town for a weeks after someone recommended their falafel wraps. Well... I'm so glad we went! I would have never expected this place, in the middle of a quiet neighborhood, to have the selection it does. They have a full deli with fresh sides, wraps, salads, etc... aisles of imported grocery fare.... wine, liquor, and beer.... fresh produce....and desserts! Such a lovely little neighborhood deli and wine shop! Martha's has a robust selection of deli items, cold salads, and sides, as well as craft beers, a liqueurs, wines, artisan cheese, fair trade coffee, and delectable chocolate bars, of which I can never decide on just one. They carry many known brands as well as local, hard to find, and artisan suppliers as well. Some things seem randomly pricey, but all in all, the selection they store offers as a whole, makes it worth it. On my most recent trip, I needed a bottle of vino for a friend's house-warming party. We went back and forth on several decent bottles before picking one out that we thought made us look like somewhat dignified wine drinkers but not snobby winos. I think our friends would've been happy with a 6 pack of Oberon, but whatever. We supported local by shopping here, we topped everyone else's house warming gift and felt like for a brief fleeting moment we knew a thing or two about wine. Thank you, Martha's. read more

I asked for a recommendation on a wine pairing. The guy helping me said honestly that he was a beer drinker but knew some one who could help. He picked up his phone and rang his wife who paired my meal with one of the better wines I've had. Beer selection is amazing if you like micro brews. This place is awesome. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. They had a sale on McClure's pickles - 2 for $10. That's a steal if you know anything about those pickles. Great wine selection, a nice bakery section, lots of cheeses, and tons of unique items from jams to hot sauces, etc. The store isn't that big, but I felt like I could've spent hours in there checking everything out. It's like walking into a cafe/deli/shop in Europe somewhere... reminds me of my times in Rome and getting a sandwich and Pellegrino for lunch. Wine selection is out of this world. You will probably walk away with an excellent wine here. Staff is very attentive and very friendly. We tried the prepared wraps for lunch and they were good. Honestly I come here often because it is convenient. I am not sure if I would gravitate towards the place if it weren't so close to home. The best part about this place though, is the drinks selection. They have a lot of great offerings when it comes to wine, beer and alcohol. I find the prices to be a little higher than other place, but most of the time you can find some sought out gems, you normally can't find other places. I have not tried any of their deli selections but I always see people at the counter ordering food. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they don't carry any local cheeses, even though there are many incredibly delicious local cheeses here in Michigan. We typically skip dessert when we go out and hit Martha's on the way home. The cheesecake and other dessert selections are fantastic. I also don't pretend to know anything about wine. I can ask questions of the staff here and get honest answers without being made to feel like an idiot. Several of the selections they've turned me on to have become staples for the wife and I. Martha's has an excellent selection of wine, liquor and cheese. Also, their deli selection has an impressive selection of of fresh unique foods. I go with the tabouli which can be purchased based on weight. It's extremely fresh and zesty. It's convenient that they have a parking lot so you don't have to worry about driving around the busy streets of East town looking for parking. This place is relatively upscale so I would not wear my pajama pants while shopping here! read more

Not only the best vegan brownie I've ever had, the best brownie I've ever had period. This place is super vegan friendly and is open till midnight everyday which is amazing for late night cravings! What a great store...I just wish it was in my neighborhood ! From the moment you walk through the front door you get an eyeful. Bakery treats displayed in a glass case and then a variety of cheeses from around the world, all kinds of sandwiches and other goodies to bring home. And of course lots and lots of wine. If you ask they will bring you upstairs to the wine cellar to get the really good stuff.If I were you I would make a point of checking this place out and I can not wait to go back. The customer service is outstanding! You are made to feel welcome the minute you walk through the door. Very clean, well-stocked and great sandwiches and other goodies. I always get fresh fruit and a sandwich, and a salad and crackers and cheese to take home. They have a huge cheese selection and the desserts are unbelievable. You can even get a bouquet to take home! Everything is always fresh. The owner goes out of his way to remember your name and greet you accordingly.
