Michigander Omelette, yummy! The tomatoes were very fresh and full of flavor. Service w a smile! Great people, especially Robert.

Michigander omelette was delicious. the tomatoes were fresh and tasty. The staff was hard working and friendly. especially Robert. He is the bus boy(bus man) but he interacted w everyone and we thought he was the Manager because of the way he ran around and engaged the customers. well done!

Garden Omelette and rye toast

I had Scrambled eggs and cheddar ham. A nice portion tasty ham and nicely scrambled eggs. My wife had the Gardener Omelette. It was not as expected. The veggies didn't not appear to be sauté as the menu stated and no cheese. The eggs were thin roll up style. Disappointing. No offer of a coffee refill. Service was average. The dining room was clean and nice. But it was very noisy.

I've always heard of the Peppermill Grill and their legendary biscuits and gravy but never realized they had a location in Rockford. I met with a friend here before walking around the farmers market. It was pretty crowded right around 9 am on a Saturday but it ended up clearing out while we were there. There are two entrances and both are a little cramped, so there's not a ton of room to stand around waiting. They do have some outdoor seating in the back. The interior is a little run down and the carpet was definitely in need of a vacuum. The table we sat at was uncomfortably close to another large group so we kept bumping chairs as they were getting situated. The dining room as a whole felt pretty cramped and crowded. Our server was very sweet even though she was clearly slammed. I ordered the corned beef hash, somehow I thought it would be homemade based on the menu's description (it wasn't). I don't mind canned corned beef hash but I was really hoping for the real stuff on this particular visit. Oh well, my fault for not asking. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the food was what you'd expect. I wasn't blown away by this place by any means, but it was pretty affordable and quick. I doubt I'd run back here again soon but it seems like one of the few places in Rockford to get breakfast.

Fresh , Sweet Buttermilk Pancakes

At first coming to this place the outside of it is very dark and doesn't look open. Went inside and our waitress was lovely. However, when it came to ordering and the food I was rather disappointed. First off, no orange juice during the time of me eating which was a let down. Then we got to ordering, which the food and my Apple juice came quickly which I liked. But on the other hand this meal including my moms meal was not worth the $21 we spent on food. The pancakes were cooked around the edges but not in the center. I only managed to eat a third of them before losing interest in the pancakes. The fruit on top was alright but definitely not fresh. The American fries were also burnt and lacking even the potatoe taste. Not even ketchup could save it for me. My mom only managed to eat some of her French toast before giving up on it as well. I went home hungry and not feeling well after. They did have a sign saying cook in training. But even I who have never been to culinary school or anything have never managed to mess up pancakes and hash browns so badly.

Daisy Skillet. Potatoes, Swiss cheese, eggs, diced ham, and hollandaise. Yum!

Lovely little diner walking distance from Hotel Rose. Eggs cooked perfectly, good portions, hot coffee. Basic diner fare at a good price.

First time I had a dish called The Cook's Breakfast which was biscuits and gravy topped with corned beef hash , cheese and two eggs. Came back two days later with our friends and got the lemon blueberry French toast and some eggs with a side of bacon. Everything was perfectly cooked both times. The server was absolutely amazing as well!! Will definitely come here every time I'm in Rockford.

Breakfast at Evergreen Inn…read more This morning, in the spirit of liberty and breakfast carbs, I ventured out to the Evergreen Inn to celebrate the Fourth with a fork. Their specials board boasted a short stack paired with a choice of meat--how could I resist? I threw in a couple of scrambled eggs to round things out and waited for the fireworks (on my plate, that is). The pancakes arrived looking like golden perfection--fluffy, inviting, ready to be drenched. Unfortunately, the syrup rations were a bit...conservative. I wouldn't say stingy, but let's just say I had to request two more cups to give those cakes the celebration they deserved. The eggs? Fine. Serviceable. I suspect they started life in a carton, already liquefied and waiting for their destiny. The sausages were decent, the chocolate milk was nostalgic in all the right ways, and the cutlery had clearly survived a few wars of its own. And the ketchup--oh, the ketchup. A bottle proudly labeled "Fancy" does not make it so. If someone brought that stuff to a backyard BBQ, I'd stage a condiment coup and return with a bottle of Heinz. Now, let's talk ambiance. The place is *kind of* clean--clean-adjacent, clean-curious, but not quite committed to the title. Still, nothing alarming, just...comfortably lived-in. What it lacked in polish, the staff made up for in personality. The lone waitress holding down the fort was kind, attentive, and clearly doing the job of three people. Any service slip-ups? Forgiven on the spot. The bill came in a little higher than anticipated, especially for a daily special. But with few breakfast contenders in the area, Evergreen Inn knows it has the home-field advantage--and it's charging rent. Still, the pancakes alone were worth the visit. Just bring your own syrup--and maybe your own ketchup, too.

This review is solely on my experience and not the integrity of the bagel itself. I was fascinated when a colleague recommended this place in Rockford for breakfast and I had no idea what to expect when I pulled up to an old home. When I walked in, I was greeted with delicious coffee aromas being ground while people were buying pounds of fresh ground beans. I was confused about the ordering process, but friendly customers explained the procedure. First, you get in line and pick your drink and order a customizable bagel. I picked a sandwich because I was hungry, so I opted for a full on sandwich. I chose an onion bagel with house-made smoked and sliced roast beef, egg, pepper Jack cheese, horseradish sauce, onion, tomato, and lettuce. Yum! The bagels are homemade and on the smaller side so I was able to scarf down the whole sandwich whilst enjoying a large NOLA coffee brew. All of this came to under $10. A great value and interesting experience. After, ordering you can find a seat and they come find you to come back to the counter to pay. You only pay when your food is ready. Then its cafe seat yourself territory. They also have random items for sale and interesting curiosities hidden in the nooks and crannies of this space. Certainly worth a visit based on vibes and price point alone. the food did not disappoint. Smoked meats for the win!
