About the only quality thing you'll get at Sheels is a great case of Covid. Even management were walking around without masks. yes, plenty of stuff to buy (but don't be shocked -- you'll feel like you're in a combo of any of the following: REI/Dicks/Cabella's/Target) but the customer service (at customer service) was beyond brutal. My in-laws are in town and wanted to buy some fishing gear and a license -- we decided to show them the new store in town (we'd not yet been). After choosing the equipment, we were first directed to Customer Service on the same floor as the fishing gear where we were told we could check out and get a license, but once through that line, we were told, "we don't do licenses here" -- well that would be a good thing to tell the staff in the fishing department, I'm guessing. So downstairs we went to the other Customer Service desk. Not only did they ring up the gear incorrectly (which was noticed not by them, but by my father-in-law), they had to run his info three times for the license (after a phone call about fixing the printer). At one point, we even requested that they cancel the transaction so we could go somewhere else (the response was, 'um' -- I am not kidding: the response to the request was 'um'). Since there are so many other, similar places, I will go elsewhere (because I don't need a ferris-wheel ride to feel good about my shoe purchase). Perhaps I wouldn't even have typed this up if someone in the customer service team was apologetic, or acted like this 20 minute setback might have been an inconvenience, but that wasn't the case at all. Always a great place to go with the kids! It was nonstop excitement from the moment we walked in the door and they climbed all over the big carved wooden bear and took a photo. They love to look at all the fish (we even got to see a guy inside the tank doing some maintenance or something) and ride the ferris wheel! I was just taking my time cruising the store and looking at everything and I was stopped 2 separate times by employees asking if I needed any help finding anything. So customer service gets and A+ in my book, they were very friendly. I've been wanting a hydroflask forever and finally got one, they had it for 25% off too, so I scored! My husband snagged some workout gear and I felt like we could have spent forever in there seeing all the things. Seriously, Sheels has everything! Love this place!! I believe you could find just about any sporting good that you would ever need at Scheels. From Oakley Sunglasses to rifles. From running gear to lawn darts and literally everything in between. One of the things I like most is the knowledgeable associates in the different departments. Most that I've talked to have real experience with the items they're representing and good at giving me good input regarding the merchandise without feeling like I'm getting a pressured sales pitch. Great customer service. My son purchased cleats for football in August but decided a few weeks later he preferred another brand. We did present a receipt for the transaction and a refund was promptly made. I don't compare prices very well so I can't speak to value but I can confirm that they have lots of cool stuff! We took our kids for a family outing and enjoyed looking at the large fish tank, riding the Ferris wheel, playing in the playground area in the youth clothing area, and enjoying a few rounds of the shooting game. I went to Scheels last week as a Saturday outing with my adult clients with disabilities. For our purposes, it was perfect. Scheels is quite large, and in addition to the various sporting sections there are a lot of games and interactive displays; we were able to entertain ourselves there for an hour or more. My favorite parts were the aquarium pillars, the photo ops with taxidermied animals, and the pet section. In the future I would like to try the Ferris wheel, the fudge, the various arcade games that we didn't play because they cost money, and the music video photo booth located just inside the front doors. The number of dead things in Scheels verges on macabre. One of their chief exhibits is a mountain where 50-100 taxidermic beasts have congregated, à la the opening scenes of The Lion King (you know, just like real life). I find humor in the grandiose nature of this art form and thus loved it, but it may not be for everyone. While our experience was definitely enjoyable, I'm not sure that I would ever make any major purchases here. The prices seemed inflated on most products, and there are cheaper alternatives online or elsewhere in the SL valley. read more

Love - the products, variety and sheer volume/selection you have on any given item/department. The location is great, the kids love this store, the food is meh but the fish tank is awesome. There are so many good things to like about this store. Hate - the people in some of the departments (women' section and the dressing room supervisors i.e. security guards). The last two times we've been to Scheels and have visited this department my wife and I have been appalled. Absolutely the worst customer service we have experienced at a sporting goods store. We of course let a manager know of our experience and it was the typical "I'll tell you that we're sorry but you know what we really don't care." I would rate the service a 1 star, products/selection 4-5 stars so I'll go with 2 stars overall. It seems the customer service training/hiring is going way downhill. Fix that and this place could easily go back up to a 4-5 star place. read more

Pretty good variety of stuff but nothing really specialized. BUT there are way too many staff and they know absolutely nothing about what they are selling. It makes wandering uncomfortable. Employed returned missionaries lurk around every corner waiting to asking to help even though one (that looks exactly the same) just asked you the 10 feet before. But then you decide to take you up on the offer and ask them something and they have no idea but even worse is that they pretend they do. They could really drop their prices if they had 1/3 of the staff walking around. If you're a fanatic about your sport and know a lot about it but have a specialized questions. This is NOT the place (get it? staffed with missionaries...ha!). But if you do want a camouflage sheet set to match your camo wallet and camo jacket for your dog, then you might dig it. On top of that, they are overpriced compared to the local competition. We go once per year to ride the ferris wheel and browse on a bad weather day then go over to REI to actually make a purchase. read more

Ay, I will give this place 3 and a half stars so I will just round it up to 4. Holy Huge store! You can pretty much find anything in here. It even got a ferris wheel and a fish tank door arch. Yes, you fancy. I couldn't help myself checking out the animal display collection on the second floor. One thing caught my eyes were the whole fox family. who was cruel enough to kill the baby foxes. Off topic.... Anyways, We walked around store and we felt almost everything in the store was pretty pricy. Till we walked into the gun section. Cabela's wannabe? I do think they have better shotgun collection than Cabela's. We did find nice discount for S&W M&P 9mm, $516. Not sure about sales associates' gun knowledge because we never really asked them any questions about guns. One time, we were taking a look at Ruger LC380 (a new concealed weapon just came out in Feb 2013), we played with it a bit and handed it back. I guess this was his first time to play with it. I think he was having fun with the Ruger because everytime we turned around, he was still playing with it. lol They got ARs now because AR ban law did not pass. They are always out of ammo....and just nice expensive one still sitting there. You do get a deals sometime. Soon as you enter the door, the cashiers will greet you immediately. The animatronics were odd, but other than that, they have a huge selection of sporting and hunting gear. From guns to golf, from sleeping bags to Nodor professional dart boards, this place has them. If I was not careful today I could have done serious damage to my American Express card. Scheels is an interesting place. It's huge. It has such a crazy variety of outdoor gear that you will be leaving with way more than you ever intended to buy. My most recent trip, an attempt to kill an hour because I didn't want to drive home and back to the area over two or three hours involved the following impulse buys...a disc golf disc, a hackey sack, and a gun. Over the weekend I had talked with my girlfriends brother-in-law about good guns for concealed carry and he suggested the Ruger LCP .380. I was wandering around the store, noticed they carried it for a good price, and it came with a cool custom red trigger, so I decided to pick it up. The staff was very helpful in talking to me about the gun, letting me handle it and get a feel for it, and filling out all the paper work. As it was the end of the day the background check had to wait until today and I was then able to pick it up early this morning. I was impressed with how quickly they had it ready for me, it was within 30 minutes of the store opening. Their disc golf selection is huge, but unfortunately mostly overpriced. They have tons of brands, Innova, Discraft, MVP, and even a few Dynamic, Millennium, and DGA discs. They have practice baskets available, lights, starter sets and more. The cheap Innova plastic is reasonable at $7.99 a disc, but the Champion and Star plastics (and their respective versions in the other brands) are a complete ripoff. $21.99 for a Champion disc is insane. You can find these for $14.99 or less anywhere else in the state. As a player that buys a couple discs a month, I would only consider buying DX plastic here. It's unfortunate because they do have such a great selection and really cool dyes and stamps. I picked up a DX Thunderbird with a rainbow stamp for $8 though and that was it. A fair warning on their starter packs...they charge $30 for it when it only contains 3 $8 DX discs that you can literally just select from the racks right next to it. You're seriously paying $6 more just to have the discs wrapped up in plastic and a box. My hackey sack was $6 and seemed like a good deal. It was the kind I always wanted in Jr. High. They actually had a surprisingly good selection of hackey sack stuff...I wonder if anyone still plays... Overall it's a great store. I give 4 stars because of how helpful and prompt they were with the gun purchase as well as the gun price. They get a pass on the disc golf stuff as the DX is a good price and they seem to support the sport decently with signs showing where all the nearby courses are. They carry a huge, diverse selection, but they really need to lower their prices. It's definitely a unique store that is worth a check out. read more

What can I say that hasn't been said? They have everything. The store is great looking. Its huge!! There is a fish tank that is a massive archway. Any sport you can think of and they have the gear. Guns? Yep. So all of that can be expected at such a large sporting goods store. The thing that struck me is the massive amount of Under Armour gear they carry. Its like they are an Under Armour store that also sells everything else. Also the prices. They are expensive. But with all that space and staff they have a large over head. This is passed on to the customer. That's to be expected. Is it worth it? Maybe if you find what you are looking for. Can you get stuff cheaper? Yes with out a doubt. I don't have kids yet but when I do I expect I'll take them there for the feeling of going somewhere entertaining without actually having to spend much if I don't want to. Omg!!!! This place is incredible! Think "Disneyland meets REI meets Nordstrom" because it was the strangest but coolest place I've been to! My roommate's bf recommended to my bf and I to go check out the place because it's super fun! I kept thinking..."how fun can a sporting goods store be??" Boy, was I surprised! Upon walking in, you're greeted by a huge triple-arched aquarium filled with colorful fish and decor. We came at just the right time because there was a scuba diver in the tank feeding the fish! What the heck?!? Keep walking forward and you see a ferris wheel...that's right, I said a ferris wheel...IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORE!! This place is absolutely ginormous with tons to do and see! Each section of the store is divided by sport/activity and there are interactive things to do in most sections. For example, there is mini putting area in the golf section, an arcade-style shooting game in the hunting area, and even a mini bowling alley! As you make your way to the second floor, you'll smell the amazing aroma of fresh candied nuts and popcorn. On the second floor, they have this giant mountain of stuffed taxidermy, which was by far the coolest thing I've seen! Didn't really shop around because we were too busy having fun, but just glancing at the prices, it seemed like any other sporting/outdoor goods store. The ferris wheel only costs $1 to ride and you get a good 6 rotations on it...it goes pretty high up too! There is also a section that sells modern street wear. You can complete the look with accessories from the handbag area, right next to the ferris wheel. Spent a good two hours there. Take the significant other or kids because you're bound to have fun! Just remember to take dollar bills for all the games and stuff. read more

I don't know why I'm writing a review of Scheels. They sell everything sports related. It's huge and they offer a variety of just about everything you could possibly imagine. The centerpiece is a Ferris Wheel. I really don't understand why they have a full-sized Ferris Wheel in the center of this place. There's a huge aquarium that you walk under when you enter from the north. There's a shooting gallery with animated targets on the second floor. They have an interactive electronic game where you shoot basketballs, bat baseballs or kick soccer balls into a screen. I saw some guy trying out a golf club hitting a golf ball into a virtual reality screen. Golf is such a stupid sport. I dunno. Seems like a bunch of bells and whistles to push athletic equipment and clothing. It's all spectacle and the substance isn't proportional to the hype. I suppose the thing that irked me was all I could find was soft-tip dart items. Perhaps regular darts are too dangerous or were only available behind a closely guarded counter? There's certainly nothing remotely like it anywhere else here in Zion. It's not quite Lagoon but then Lagoon isn't quite Disneyland... read more

The only complaint I have about Scheels is that it took a while to find an employee to help me around the store. However, once I found an employee I found some phenomenal rollerblades. This place is really cool! They have tons of sports gear to choose from, I even found an ASU shirt! Their selection of workout gear is awesome and the staff are very helpful and friendly. They also have cute dresses and shirts from Roxy and Billabong. The only downside to this place is that it is chocked full of screaming kids all impatiently awaiting the ride on the indoor Ferris wheel. I guess this is unavoidable as we are in Utah, I don't hold Scheels responsible for this. The animal exhibit and fish tanks they have inside are pretty cool to look at. As other reviews have stated, they are a little expensive but I think they have sales that might make up for that. I would love to go here more often but it's way out in the burbs and I don't make it out that far usually. If I ever do, I'll definitely be back. read more

We found what we needed, they price matched the stuff I had planned to get online from Cabela's when they didn't have it at the location I'd gone to, and got pretty good deals on everything. Great place to go for outdoor gear, sports gear, etc. You know, the fun stuff. I gave only 4 stars because they have so much gear you have to really look through and make sure you're getting the best deal and quality. I really like this place. It is huge, which can make it intimidating the first time you go there, but there is a huge selection of items. I purchased a firearm and the process was seemless. The staff was knowledgable and friendly. They answered all my questions and took care of the purchase in a timely fashion. I will mention that I made this purchase on a Saturday, and it is a zoo in there on Saturday. I was still impressed with the service despite the very busy day. On my second visit I went to purchase a new case for the firearm and I took my kids this time. We walked around taking pics with at the "stations". They have a lot of fun spots you can take pics with your kids. They also enjoyed playing a few games and seeing the huge aquarium. I really like that this is a sporting goods store with a lot of fun stuff for the family, including a huge ferris wheel. There is a huge selection of: camping, hunting, sporting good equipment, clothing, shoes, food storage, golf, archery, and much more. Bought a bike here a couple months ago. The salesman was really knowledgeable and helpful. He helped me find the perfect bike. I bought it on their card and they do free adjustments for life. Did adjustments and checked it out at 30 days for free. Since then, we have brought all our family's bikes here. The service is good and reasonable. Took back to shirts today we purchased and unfortunately the receipt wasn't in the bag. The shirts were $39.99 and she claimed the last sales price was $24.99. I was a hundred percent positive we paid $39.99 for the shirts so when I went over there to shop for my allotted $50 I found many of them on the rack for $39.99. I confronted Joyce and assistant manager about it and she claimed the last sales price was $24.99. Listen, I get it people probably try to manipulate the situation but when you blatantly lie to me and I go over and see that I was correct on how much we paid for the shirt I think it's pretty messed up you won't honor the price. I was in town over the holiday weekend when I came in and purchased a used Desert Eagle 50AE handgun. The price was very fair, hence why I purchased it. Because I did not live in UT, they said I had to have my purchase sent to my ffl in Nevada. I was told my order would go out on Monday and it would be overnight UPS on Teusday (sounds legit?) I've called twice now and the delivery day keeps getting pushed back. Now delivery is supposedly Friday? Great selection for our family of five. I believe they don't carry any sizes larger than 2X. But this is the place to go for all sporting needs. We come here for football, soccer, athletic wear and outdoor hiking equipment. They offer way more items. It is a bit more pricer than other places like Big 5 but there are so many things for my boys to do to keep them occupied while I shop that I tend to come here a lot. read more
