REI sells Dog supplies - but dogs have stay tied outside at Millcreek Utah store - are you ok with that REI members?
    Jane M.

I'm a long time REI member and I was surprised to find that REI Millcreek doesn't allow dogs in the store. Rather they provide a place to "tie" your dog to a metal ring in the concrete outside the store while you're shopping - note only one ring provided. While I was there Sunday July 28th there up to three dogs tied outside the store, waiting for owners to return. It was 90 degrees in Millcreek area of Salt Lake on Sunday. To be fair REI did provide a "pop -up" cover for the dogs but no water - a store employee told us that was his job but he must have forgotten that day. So speak up REI Co-Op Members are we OK we having dogs tied outside REI stores?

"Holy moly what is going on" we said as we turned into the parking lot of REI. Masses of people were hovered around the door. Come to find out it's their annual garage sale. They were only letting a few people in at a time, but I was able to go into the main part of the store without any issues. I only came to get bug spray. Sure I can just grab a small travel size, and be on my way, ya right! If you have ever been to this location you know that their customer service is clear in the very back corner of the store. I mean clear in the back corner. This is where the end of the check out line was today. I needed the bug spray so I got in line, miles of people were ahead of me and people kept lining up in back of me. You know how slow check out lines can be, well I waited a few minutes and started up a conversation with a lady behind me who said this is crazy I have a plane to catch. I thought you know, I"ll just have to put on my boxing gloves, and go toe to toe with the mosquitoes, I'm not waiting here for $6. Time is money. We decided to leave the mad crowd. When we left I said to the lady behind me, now you are one step closer to catching your plane **wink** She just sighed...

    Huge REI!!!

Came here searching for The Landmark Project XS tees and this store delivered! When I visit National Parks, I always love the camping, hiking, beauty, and serenity, but am usually a little sad that they lack tees in XS to commemorate our adventures. Enter The Landmark Project and its rad National Park tee series and I'm one happy camper! Each local REI only has the tees for the local area so on our road trip I've been collecting the tees for the parks I've visited and am stoked to be able to wear them as a way of showing love for our parks! Also found some comfy Prana under the knee length shorts! Friendly staff and clean store. Keep up the great work!

The #1 feature of this huge store for me is the customer service. I have never walked into the store and not been greeted, and then approached by a team member asking what I need and how they can help. I have purchased a number of items over the years, and have come to really enjoy that you can depend on the brands they carry. This store is NOT a discount store, but is high-end climbing, mountaineering, camping, and outdoor clothing. You can find the coolest little gadgets that make camping so much more enjoyable. I have a backpack from them that I have used for years, and still get asked if I just purchased it. I wish there were something that I could compare REI to in the Salt Lake area, but there simply is not. They have set themselves apart and really the only downside that I can see, is that their stuff last SO LONG that the must count on repeat purchases to upgrade all of a persons outdoor gear.

Ric was so helpful and great to work with. We went in to rent skis after hearing there was a 2 hour wait in Park City for equipment. We spotted the REI sign and Ric had us sized and on our way in less than 10 minutes. Great store, great service! Thanks Ric!!!

This is how they fix the chip on the ski and color match. Pretty disappointing. Will find different business for this sort of stuff-

What I liked... 1) Great job answering my questions on the phone since I wasn't sure if the XL was the right size for me and I had other questions since it is a pretty big purchase. I shopped around a lot before pulling the trigger. 2) I was fully expecting to have to put it together from scratch but they pre assemble and tested it before they ship it in a larger box where they do a great job protecting it during shipping. The day I received it I got to ride it since it took less than an hour to put the minor pieces on. Remember you need to provide your own peddles for the nicer bikes like this. 3) Nick kept me informed via email and I asked him to make it tubeless. Which he did at no cost (so I didn't even need to put on the tires). I had the bike in about 7 days after placing the order. I've been riding this bike for over 2 months now pretty much every day. Such an awesome bike from a great shop. I don't write many reviews but this was such a good experience I needed to. Thanks guys! Thanks Nick!!

They take bikes and refurbish them to sell, but are so much more with their community programs. If you want to rent a bench, you can get all the tools you'll need to do your own fix. They have pros there who can guide you through some basic things, but it's not a bike repair shop, so don't expect to drop it off and have something fixed; you're here to learn and work together. It looks like they're booking shopping appointments online now, and when I dropped by they were open but the doors are locked. It's a teeny retail space and they are still exercising great caution about COVID. You can peruse what's available and as is the case with any store like this, it's very hit or miss with styles and sizes, but that's half the fun.

Service meets expertise!…read more I'm a mountain biker that just got into road biking - I walked in here with about 2 dozen questions and in need of lots of help (and honestly lots of hand holding!); Cottonwood Cyclery absolutely exceeded my expectations. The lady that helped me fully dedicated over 20 minutes to walking around the shop helping me make a list of all the equipment, clothing, tools, and supplies I'll need for my newly purchased road bike. She also spoke with me at length about cleaning and riding techniques, as well as tips and tricks from her own cycling experience. She was also able to recommend a third party to properly fit my bike to me, which she uses herself. I didn't look around at the new bikes too much, but I did notice they had a selection of mountain bikes, e-bikes, and road bikes. They've got tools, bags, shoes, cleaners and lubricants, CO2 tire inflators, tubes, and everything else you'd ever need. They were out of a few clothing items due to shortages from high demand during COVID, but they were still able to provide recommendations about what to look for. That undivided attention was so valuable and helpful - I couldn't have asked for anything more than the experience I had here. This isn't the closest bike shop to me, but it is 100% worth the drive. AND I'd like to mention they are open an hour later than most other bike shops, which is so appreciated and convenient when I rushing to get some shopping done after my work day. I will undoubtedly be back for equipment, advice, and maybe a little moral support! Thank you, CC!
