Party of 9. The Bad: Happy Hour: We weren't told that the Happy Hour menu was only good on the patio or sitting at the bar. Had to order off the main menu. One of our party ordered a chicken quesadilla. It came with no chicken. Another of our party ordered the grilled chicken salad and upgraded to fajita style chicken. We were charged for the upgrade but did not receive the requested style of chicken. My wife ordered the Chicken Flautas and they never came. Difficult to say if the orders were not put in properly or if mistakes were made by the kitchen. THE GOOD: My wife's order was put in again and we finally got it but only after everyone else had finished their meals. Ended up getting it to takeout. However we were not charged for her meal. Not sure how to begin, but here goes. My friend arrived before me she drove N. from Springs. I drove S. from Denver, a pleasant drive for both of us, somewhat in the middle. She was given a table near the S. patio exit right next to the double doors (Literally the table straddled one of the patio doors). As I pulled into the parking lot of Savina exactly 4: 20, I called my friend to let her know I'd arrived. She stated she would meet me outside. As my friend exited to meet me in the parking lot, she told both a server and the Host at the front desk that she would return shortly. Upon re-entering there were approximately 3 or 4 employees at the front host desk. NOT one of them acknowledged our entering, NO 'hello, can we help you, or friendly smile', although, they chatted amongst themselves as they kept their eyes on their respective cell phones. As we made ourselves back to our table the view was breathtaking. Both my friend and I proceeded outside to wonder the 360-degree view, spectacular. Finally, we returned to the table after a few pics, within a 10min window of having met me out front. I didn't really pay attention to the location of our table except when I tried to squeeze myself between the other table where two elderly women were seated. I excused myself as I attempted to get comfortable, to my surprise they acknowledge, and yet ignored me. I politely mentioned how crowded it was for me to accommodate myself. My plea fell on DEAF ears as they snubbed me (in their defense -both were blue haired possibly hard of hearing or just rude). Therefore, I sat on the same side of the rectangular table, as I could not sit comfortably opposite my girl. As we sipped our water several servers passed us, we had a few chips and salsa at the table while sitting patiently. Within the 5-7 minutes, I attempted to get anyone of the servers' attention, the dining-area was steady but not crazy. At which I again wondered why we were seated in such a poor spot (both our chairs clearly blocked the pathway to the outside) somewhat an emergency or fire hazard. I scanned the dining area, and more than half the dining patio tables were empty. I finally got a young waiter's attention and asked if we could order a drink or move to another spot, perhaps the bar itself. As I spoke a young lady-server approached. She stated that she was our server, then stated "I thought you left", I didn't think you were coming back". Not offering to serve us, but surprised we were back- 'NO apology or 'what may I bring or help you with?' I asked again, would it be possible to get another table, or better yet sit at the bar. We were told that the inside bar was available but NO offer to help accomodate. I offered to pay for the chips and salsa... Young lady stated, NO Charge, I placed $5.00 on the table anyhow. As we made our way toward the bar, the server did not offer to help carry our water, chips or salsa to the table. By this time, it was closer to 5pm and the actual bar was crowded with no seats available... Yet again NO server to offer us another place to be seated. I would've thought she would have followed us to help or communicate our predicament to the host or other servers in the bar area. Frustrated, thirsty and hungry, we found ourselves in the parking lot deciding where else we might choose to dine. I'm writing this to express just how indifferent the staff was upon entering and leaving your establishment. I say this because as we walked out... AGAIN, NOT a single host, waiter employee at the front desk said, 'goodbye, thank you, see you soon', how was everything?' I currently work for HCA medical in Englewood and was given the recommendation to dine here by my director. I've worked in both food and beverage and the Hospitality field for over 40 years, currently as a hospital administrator. I was truly looking forward to seeing my friend and enjoying my Birthday meal. The few chips and bit of salsa were tasty. Hell, you can get good chips and salsa at 90 percent of the Spanish or Mexican restaurants in Colorado! Yet, POOR service is what shuts down 90 percent of restaurants. Not sure I will give Savina in Castle Pines a second chance, possibly give Denver's location a try. PS. I returned to my vehicle having left it in the parking lot... I needed the men's bathroom; I purposely went into Savina, finding NO one at the front desk. However, on my way out from using the facilities, one of the young hosts called out 'goodbye'. The Good: The location is absolutely stunning, l (5-stars) with postcard-worthy Colorado views. The bar areas--both inside and outside--are excellent. The indoor bar was very busy, but the two bartenders handled it impressively well. They were friendly and attentive. While waiting for our table, we enjoyed the chili rellenos appetizer, which was fantastic, along with some truly great green chili. The Bad: Unfortunately, the service elsewhere did not match the bar experience. Check-in and patio service were both very poor (1-star). It reached a point where, after my wife finally received her meal and took just a couple of bites, we decided to cut our losses, box the food, pay, and leave. Definitely a solid Mexican food spot that I've frequented many times as a Castle Rock resident. They offer friendly service, great green chile and unique menu items--like the mini chile rellenos--which are genuinely tasty and well done every time. The biggest downside for me is the pricing. Everything on the menu feels noticeably overpriced, especially considering there are several nearby Mexican food options within walking distance that offer better flavor and larger portions for less. Loved Savina's! Every time I've been it's spot on, I do recommend making a reservation especially on a Friday or Saturday night. We were lucky to find a spot at the bar. We got a pitcher of margs-definitely more than 4 drinks and worth the money if you have multiple people drinking. The tacos are my go to, the steak is my favorite by far. The guac is a waste of money, it's super basic and nothing great in terms of flavor, also certainly not worth $16. The atmosphere is amazing, get here for sunset. read more

First time back here in a few years, and honestly, my view hasn't really changed. As far as scenery/ambiance, I'm not sure you'll find a better spot in Castle Rock. With the huge patio and wall of windows, this is the place to be for a spectacular sunset. We showed up a little before 7 on a Sunday and were quoted a 30-min wait. The phone text came through in that timeframe that our table was ready. Food has always seemed very average, and it held serve again on this night. Having been unimpressed with most things I've tried before, other than the fajitas, which are very good but also very overpriced, I tried the Plato Al Olivo. The chicken was a little dry, and the carrots were undercooked, but overall, the dish was fine, albeit a little tasteless. My brother had the anniversary plate, and he was impressed with the quantity and quality of food. My wife was very happy with her cheese quesadillas. One daughter kind of went back and forth about the views for her chimichanga, and the other daughter wasn't terribly impressed with her enchiladas. Service is typically the downer here, and it was again on this night. Friendly enough, it's just not around enough when you need it. We went a good 30 mins without seeing our waiter at one point. This was also the point where we waited at least 30-45 mins for our food to come. Drinks and chips sat empty more than once. Soda products we got were flat. One had a small bug land in it, but then we couldn't get it replaced because we didn't see our waiter. My wife waited a bit for her side of rice even though she had her quesadilla a few minutes earlier. Considering how nice the facility is, and the level of pricing they get you to pay, it would be nice if the quality of food and service matched those expectations. Food gets a '3', and service gets a '1.' Come here for the view and the experience without expecting amazing food and service, and you likely won't be too disappointed. read more

I was super excited to make a stop at La Loma Castle Rock after shopping at the outlet mall. We are big fans of the La Loma in downtown Denver. Pros: - our service was excellent! - no wait to be seated - beautiful view of the mountains and great facility Cons: - While the food looked delicious as seen in the pictures, no one in our party really enjoyed their entree. Has La Loma been the talk of the town these days? Am I the only one who feels that way? Well, when its Parker location opened (a few weeks ago), it was on the local news. Now its DTC location slated to open soon, my anticipation for this restaurant has grown so much. I know this is a change restaurant and yet, it's okay to adore chain restaurants as it's not sometimes those locally run businesses. Having that reasoning in mind, since I was in Castle Rock this late afternoon, I had to try its Castle Rock location to grab a dish for later. And my takeout experience as well as the actual savoring of what I got me went pretty well. This location of La Loma is HUGE! Once inside, a spacious waiting area in the kitty corner of my left eye, a man working at the tortilla making machine to my right and the reception desk right in the center were all there at the entrance. And right behind the reception is the spacious oval shaped bar area. And behind that are some tables alongside the tall windows where you can overlook the valley of the west side of the Castle Rock neighborhood. Quite the view it is! This Castle Rock location of La Loma resembles Sierra restaurant in Lone Tree a lot. I greeted the lady at the reception informing her that I was there to pick up my previously placed order of mine. I knew I was too early for it so utilizing that waiting time, I took some photos of the restaurant (as I couldn't help it!! I was simply Yelping is all!!) As they promised over the phone (when I called them to place my order), it was just at the 15-minute timeframe when my food came out from the kitchen. And it was neatly and nicely placed in a large brown bag. The restaurant was pretty busy even though it was at its tail end of the lunch time. They were punctual. The young lady (who took my order) was right. As she said it was going to be, my taco salad (in a shell) was separated into four different containers so that the shell would not be soggy; the shell was in a clear plastic bag, the ground beef was in an 8oz container, the greens (the actual salad part) were in a rectangular shaped (12oz?) container and the sour cream and the guac were in two separate 4oz containers. Wow, this is such a meticulous way to package a dish! Not only that, the complimentary chips and salsa were in the bag and the portions of them weren't no way near stingy. Like I said earlier, I got the food for later so after three and a half hours later, I finally got to savor the food. The careful packaging truly helped keeping all of the items fresh and not soggy. How considerate is this!! I really enjoyed the ground beef as it was well-seasoned. The salsa has got the quite kick in it where I had to take a break from time to time as my mouth was a bit burning and yet I really enjoyed it as this is/was also well-made. Definitely didn't taste like some cheap store-bought one! Mmm...I am already liking this restaurant. Now I can't wait for the DTC location to open. When it does, it will be packed for the first few months as long as the people find it good/great. I eagerly await its opening. In the meantime, I fantasize what I will eat next. It will definitely be something more than a salad for sure. read more

I'm really disappointed to be giving this 1 star review to a restaurant I really used to enjoy. After today's experience, will not be back. Sat at the bar for 30 minutes and not one was asked what I would like to drink or eat. It was not that busy. There were two bartenders. One lady who walked back and forth, not bussing dishes or serving anyone. Just walking back and forth. And a guy who was picking up some dishes and speaking to a few folks. At this price point, staff should great and serve and provide an exceptional experience. Unfortunately mine was a waste of 30 minutes and off to find a restaurant with a staff that cares about their clientele. This is a very nice restaurant with such a great view especially for a sunset with the sun dropping behind the mountains. We got seated in a very spacious booth which was so nice overlooking the views through the all glass outer walls. Our waiter was very friendly and gave awesome service. The food was delicious. My husband and I enjoyed our Cinco de Mayo here, First of all it was our first time here and we were blown away by the view. We were sat at a booth, we really enjoyed being able to face the window to take in the view, it was very romantic, but really every table has a great view. The service here was wonderful too, our server James was very attentive. Food is good Tex-mex. I love that there is spice! The mini rellenos and green chile were delicious! I think this is a lovely affordable date night option if you love spicy food and tequila! *Just of note there is a 5 drink limit per person. I found this out after me and my husband ordered an el jefe(counts as two drinks) and an michelada each and then thought about getting a pitcher of mango margs but were denied as it would be over their drink limit. Being Mexican myself, I'm always on the lookout for quality food worthy of the name. And I'm pleased to say this place did not disappoint the palate, down to the final crumb. The ambience is heavenly and the aroma heady as you enter into a dimly lit foyer, where a fun greeting awaits as tortillas somersault their way through a toasting machine in one corner. The service was impeccable and attentive, regarding dietary restrictions, while the sampled fare was scrumptious and sizable enough to have leftovers for the following day. I ordered the Anniversary Plate so I could try a little bit of everything- stuffed sopapilla, chile relleno, and chicken flauta. This was my first time visiting this venue - and what a beautiful location, you have the view of the mountains in Castle Rock, the windows allow so much sunlight and the open space is really nice, creating opportunities to feel comfortable and not so crowded. So my hubby and I hungry after church decided on lunch and I ordered the steak fajitas with queso and he ordered Carne Guisada which is Top sirloin tips grilled in a spicy jalapeno and tomato salsa. Served with rice, black beans and house-made flour tortillas. But he wasn't happy. It had no flavor and the meat was tough. It was just sirloin chopped with some salsa on top and rice. I ordered the steak fajitas and they came out smoking with queso cheese and a side of rice and black beans. It can with amazing Tortillas, fresh and so soft. A side of guacamole, shredded cheese, limes, green chilies and sour cream and tons of grilled onions. To top my drink off I got a coke to wash it down. Our server was Katlyn and she was very pleasant. With my husband not happy with the outcome of his order we spoke to the amazing manager, Bailey. We talked about the meal my husband ordered and how it just didn't hit the mark and she understood and we aren't the only ones who experience that order. It really needs love and flavor, I know the recipe is family/chain but if You add some heat, peppers green pepper and jalapeños it could be a game changer. Bailey apologized and took the meal off and offered us a desert and a cup of coffee and oh my! The desert was the best part of my experience!! Mud pie is what it's called! Coffee ice cream and frozen Oreo cookie crush and topped with yummy whipped cream and a cherry - sitting in a bed of white and milk chocolate!!! The best for a chocoholic like me!! great location with ample parking. the ambiance is akin to a rather upscale restaurant & the views are great. I doubt that you could find a bad place to be seated in this restaurant. it is busy, but not loud - besides being able to see and hear the kitchen staff communicating. the service was superb. mackenzie was our server and she did an amazing job. the food: we both ordered the anniversary plate bc we wanted to sample a few different dishes. the chicken flauta was just ok. he had to slather it with guac to enjoy it, and after two bites, I decided to donate mine to him. Really loved the (chips &) salsa - a perfect amount of spice and a punch of flavor. the crispy relleno was SO deelish! the spice was pleasing to our picky palates and overall it was so flavorful and fried to perfection. the stuffed sopapilla was tasty, it's definitely not a sopapilla. it's two won ton wraps deep fried with been in between the "sheets". it was quite flavorful, however, it was disappointing because it was not a fluffy, floury, doughy deep fried tortilla pocket that you come to expect when you are referring to a sopapilla. twas tasty, nonetheless. now, the green chile that smothered the bean sandwich (the "stuffed sopapilla") was slap yerself silly, mouthwatering scrumdiddle-ishuss!!! the pork was so tender and flavorful and the entire topping (green chili) was so tasty, it hurts (bc you just want more!!!) they could definitely be more generous with sour cream, especially for the flautas. They barely give you enough - total tease! this is the first la loma that we have visited. So we will have to check out the one in Parker & Greenwood Village since it's closer to home. we recommend this place 100%! and the only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the disappointment with the sopapilla. Oh, & the rice was super lame too. No flavor - and typically Spanish or Mexican rice has either peas or carrots or both, salt &/or other spices too. Theirs is super bland. Absolutely stunning views and beautiful modern architecture. We adored the overlook of Castle Rock, especially from the brick seating around the fire pit. Service at the table and at the bar was quick, friendly, and efficient. The food was pretty standard Mexican food at high prices. Our favorite items were the chile rellano and the mud pie- both more American than Mexican really, but delicious. They serve the chile rellano with a green chile sauce with pork chunks in it that was really good. We also had the brisket chimichangas, which were good but a little salty. Everything was a little too salty, especially the salsa with the chips and salsa. We also had the house margaritas (loved the tajin rim option), the mango margarita (the mango wasn't strong enough, and they sent it automatically with a salt rim instead of asking what rim we would like), and the sangria (which was good, although made with white wine rather than the usual red). The mud pie was excellent, but frozen solid- the chocolate and white chocolate ganache it was served with was excellent. Overall everything was good but high priced, you are paying more for the view I think. I would be back for another date night, but I wish there was more creative interesting menu items to try. read more

The patio area is beautiful with a fantastic view of the mountains. We've been here a few times now and this time they just sort of seemed a little disorganized. The hostess said a 30 min wait but then we were seated immediately with lots of patio seating (not upsetting at all) the person seating us got us to the patio and had to to back to ask what table we were supposed to go to. Had to ask for extra tortillas 3x before they actually made it to the table. The margaritas were great and perfect for a summer patio meal! The meal itself wasn't great though and the food was pretty bland. At one point my 13 yo niece asked if it would be rude if she asked the waiter for some salt because her food didn't have much taste. Absolutely delicious! Atmosphere is perfect and location with a view. Great margaritas and the food was amazing. Their green chili is the best I've had. They have it on various things from appetizers to meals. I had the grandma green chili so good with rice and beans and fresh made tortillas. Others at table had green chili with enchiladas and green chili burrito. We all loved our food l. Their child portions were also big and very kid friendly. My grandson loved the chicken tacos and rice and beans. read more

Although they have changed their name due to family issues this place is still the best. It will always be known as La Loma's to us and a great place to eat with a great view and great service. read more

A shame really, I believe they have what it takes to do really well here. Pros: 1. Cadillac Margaritas are spot on 2. Children's menu consisted of enchiladas, taco, burrito and a quesadilla with rice and beans 3. Churros and Sopippas* were good and shareable Cons: $14 guacamole and it tastes like Wholly 1. Guacamole, it's not even made in house 2. Mixed Fajitas as OK. Could be better, they only come with white onions which aren't even sautéed long enough for flavor. Bell peppers are extra We came on a Sunday night and they were very busy. Waited the anticipated 50 minutes. Great ambition, amazing views of the Rocky Mountains, sunset pictures are amazing. Fine Dining Mexican with a View! We arrived around 4 pm without a reservation. We waited 20 minutes to be seated which wasn't bad, but we were originally seated in a back dining room with no one in it. The top reason we chose this restaurant was for the view so we asked to sit in the indoor patio area. The woman seating us seemed annoyed at the request, but she did accommodate, but her demeanor made us feel super awkward. The patio only had a few tables filled at that point in the evening. Our server was amazing!!! I wish I remembered her name because she was so friendly and professional. It really elevated our experience. I ordered the Texas Platter. The entire meal was delicious. The steak was well-seasoned with a good crust. I was skeptical about an egg roll-style chile relleno, but it worked! My husband had the skirt steak fajitas - it was a little odd to have to add peppers for an upcharge to the onions since typically both peppers and onions comes with fajitas, not just onions. The skirt steak wasn't that great. It lacked flavor, and the meat smelled like it wasn't fresh. We live in COS, but if we ever return, I'd get the Texas Platter again and try a different second entree. I definitely recommend coming at sunset! read more

Came in for a drink and dessert at the bar today. The bartender was super nice, and the mud pie was incredibly delicious. My husband had a couple of glasses of wine and I had a mocktail...some kind of coconut thing. Everything was really good. There weren't many people in there, so we were able to see straight out at the view, and with the all the snow, it was breathtaking. read more
