This was the first cafe we ate at after moving to Castle Rock. Great ambiance in an historic building. Had a blackberry cocktail that was yummy. My husband loved his trout dinner. I got the chilis rellenos and the smell was perfect, the texture was perfect, but not one bit of chili heat. They gave me hot sauce to add on! . It's a great place!

We stopped by due to some awesome marketing with this location on the map. It was a pretty good stop. Good service but I felt like the manager was eye-ballin my family left me a little uncomfortable. Anyhow, yes, I tried the "famous" fried chicken and my eyes were bigger then my stomach. It was crispy crunch and a good seasoning. That, the mash potatoes are awesome with veggies making it a good classic comfort food. The burger with bacon and the big chicken pot pie all was well worth it.

Delicious food and excellent service! Our server Sinae was so nice and patient when explaining their large menu of comfort food. I had the chicken fried chicken; and I would get that again! The sautéed veggies and mashed potatoes that accompanied it were perfect! My husband had a Mexican hamburger which he greatly enjoyed. They have beer, wine and cocktails, but we were just there for a quick lunch. Cute bar area, cozy booths and Colorado Western art. Street parking and it's right across from the county building on Wilcox in Castle Rock.

We stopped in on a Saturday morning for brunch. The historic building, ambiance and decor was really neat. We liked that the location made for easy walking access to shops along Wilcox which we explored after our meal. Our server was very friendly and she checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. We opted to try the special of the day which was Huevos Rancheros. It was a large portion and you could tell it was made with fresh ingredients. We were pretty disappointed by the lack of flavor in the green chili though. The shining star of the meal was the complimentary basket of piping hot, fluffy, yeasty rolls that were served with honey and butter. They were delicious and a great way to start the meal. We hope to be back to try some of the other menu items and cocktails.

Absolutely fantastic. An oasis of old Colorado in the middle of downtown. You know when you walk through the door that you're in for something special. Fantastic service, delicious country-style food, and charm. For the win: Start with queso dip, then the pan-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Nona's Cole Slaw, and finish it off with apple pie a la mode. Don't forget a local craft or a Colorado Bulldog.

Been hearing about the fried chicken at this place and decided to try for lunch. Unfortunately at lunch they not have the pan fried chicken. But they had a chicken fried chicken breast and roast turkey. We got both and wow they weee great! The chicken fried chicken was juicy served with mashed potatoes and Vegis. The Vegis are a bit bland but are fresh not canned. The gravy is a nice cream gravy. The turkey was even more wow! So juicy - while I didn't love the turkey gravy was a bit too thin. I loved the turkey with cranberry sauce and the cream gravy with mashed potatoes. I wish they had the rolls at lunch but they didn't. We ended the meal With apple pie which was fantastic. Will definitely be back after 4:30p for fried chicken.

Love this place! Came here many years ago and loved it. Tried it again and it did not disappoint! They start you out with warm rolls with butter and honey! Highly recommend adding honey! The fried chicken is fresh. Had dark meat. The mashed potatoes are yummy! And the gravy I could drink! Had a salad with thousand island homemade. Also tried the ranch and vinaigrette all homemade and so much flavor! Parking kind of sucks. Be ready to walk a little. The waitress was amazing!

Fresh baked bread, and some of the best Spinach Artichoke dip I have had in Colorado. The service was average, and the prices were fair. We sat outside on a lovely fall day and the area is beautiful in Castle Rock's downtown area. I am excited to go back and try their chicken (which is what they are known for)

This was my first visit to Castle Café in downtown Castle Rock, which was a spur of the moment, since the original planned restaurant had a considerable wait list for a Saturday lunch. We walked right in at 11 am to a greeter and were sat immediately. The café is a Bar/Pub style with a limited lunch menu, but service was friendly and efficient. After a review of the menu, and some advice from the server, we both decided on the Brisket Sandwich, which was a great choice with a nice pile of tender roast beef on a toast bun, and mine with a side of crispy onion rings. The whole platter was excellent for lunch. A nice bonus was the warm complimentary bread served while we were waiting for lunch plates, delicious! Overall, I would return for another lunch, as the café was a great place to catch up with a friend and we never felt the rush to eat and leave. Tips for your visit: Downtown Castle Rock can be very busy during the weekends, so plan on extra time for parking, or seek out the public parking structure near the Douglas County Motor Vehicle building.

There was very little that I could eat from the menu. Not the restaurant's fault. But the waitstaff could've been a touch friendlier.

Have they made any improvements on the gravy? It's been 2 years since I tried it. Thx!

I would say yes there has been an improvement. I would add that it's not just the gravy. They use to serve what looked like the contents of a can of Veg-all with their chicken dinner but now they serve a much better vegetable side.

Ecclesia has over gone a lot of changes since I visited earlier this year, so make sure to be open minded when you visit! First, the book shop *squeel* Adorable! Quaint, cute, decent selection, good children's section and they feature local authors. Support your local bookstores!!! They are wonderful. If you didn't know, this is a mini-food hall of sorts. There are several food vendors: a Bar at the top, a restaurant I've yet to visit alongside it, as well as several spots to eat downstairs. Downstairs they have : - A bagel spot (get there early for the best selection and don't be disappointed if they run out- that's what it means to have fresh baked daily!) - A great BBQ spot (this is coming from a KC native and BBQ critic!) - Apres coffee - a cute coffee shop with alternative milks and Italian sodas options. - A stuffed pita restaurant (I'm sorry I don't know the name!) - Gluttony and Graze, for salads and gourmet hot dogs and burgers - And don't sleep on the cute little kiosk to order Mexican food! I didn't get a chance to check it out, but it's next on my list to try! Though, please note all of these places have different operating hours - though you're mostly safe Wed-Sun. Either call ahead or be open minded when you come in, just in case! Overall, highly recommended. People sleep on it because the outside is unassuming, but you have to try it at least once!

We stopped in for brunch and everything we ordered was really good, but the Breakfast Hangover Burger completely stole the show for me. A burger topped with smoked ham, an over easy egg, avocado, American cheese, jalapeños, fried onion straws, and sriracha aioli sounds like someone lost a bet and just kept adding ingredients. Somehow it all works perfectly. We also ordered the Monte Cristo, which was crispy, cheesy, and exactly what I want when I order a Monte Cristo. Another highlight weee the donuts. Fresh, hot, and perfect for sharing. The service was great, the food came out quickly, and the whole experience was just really enjoyable. Definitely worth the trip.

As I have the past several times here, I went with the egg and carnitas tacos. I added a side of fresh fruit...both the eggs and fruit were very good. As the Benedict my wife loved is no longer on the menu, she had the avocado toast with eggs. She added a large size of the breakfast potatoes and was glad she did. While she liked the taste of the avocado toast, she was very disappointed in the small size of the portion. She wish she had more. One daughter had the Mardi Gras omelette for the first time. While she liked the flavor, the fact that the ham was a full slice (lunchmeat style), as opposed to chunks or cubes, was weird...and required cutting with a knife. The other daughter tried the quiche for the first time and loved it. It is one of the better quiches around. Coffee is very good as well. Service was fine for the most part.
