I don't make it down to Castle Rock very often, but after eating at The Block & Bottle, I might have to start changing that. We stopped in for brunch and everything we ordered was really good, but the Breakfast Hangover Burger completely stole the show for me. A burger topped with smoked ham, an over easy egg, avocado, American cheese, jalapeños, fried onion straws, and sriracha aioli sounds like someone lost a bet and just kept adding ingredients. Somehow it all works perfectly. We also ordered the Monte Cristo, which was crispy, cheesy, and exactly what I want when I order a Monte Cristo. Another highlight weee the donuts. Fresh, hot, and perfect for sharing. The service was great, the food came out quickly, and the whole experience was just really enjoyable. Definitely worth the trip. read more

We went on a Tuesday and it was pretty empty inside. Our wait staff was not very attentive, but the food was pretty good. We had the charcuterie board and that was meh, at best. I would not recommend that. We had the short rib dish-the cheddar grits were the best grits I've ever had and the ribs were good (not super fatty-short ribs can be sometimes). The sirloin-my husband said it was tender and tasty and my son had a shrimp pasta dish. He said that was pretty good. We came here for Mother's Day brunch. We had a reservation but not sure we needed one. The place was more full by the time we left. As I have the past several times here, I went with the egg and carnitas tacos. I added a side of fresh fruit...both the eggs and fruit were very good. As the Benedict my wife loved is no longer on the menu, she had the avocado toast with eggs. She added a large size of the breakfast potatoes and was glad she did. While she liked the taste of the avocado toast, she was very disappointed in the small size of the portion. She wish she had more. One daughter had the Mardi Gras omelette for the first time. While she liked the flavor, the fact that the ham was a full slice (lunchmeat style), as opposed to chunks or cubes, was weird...and required cutting with a knife. We were greeted when we arrived. We had a reservation for 10 with our Family/Friends. Oliver seated us at our table so we could get started. He took our drink and appetizer order. He was very nice, through and prompt. He was very patient with us and we really appreciated that. We were trying to decide on what we really wanted. Shameka like her patty melt. Kenn and Antanaysiah grit that their steaks were tender and cooked to perfection. The Cajun shrimp and lobster linguine was mouth watering goodness. I loved that the Alfredo sauce was made from scratch, The pork chop was juicy and tender; so Asante had no complaints. The salmon was flaky and sweet so Vince liked the veggies that was with it. The bbq bacon wrapped shrimp was devine and sooo good. Josh and Candice really enjoyed them. Jade loved the taste of the couscous with the shrimp. We visited Block & Bottle for the first time and were really impressed. Joey took great care of us and did an incredible job. I had the two eggs and biscuit with gravy, and it was excellent. The atmosphere was perfect, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The noise level was just right too. We have a family member with hearing aids, and most restaurants are too loud for them, but this will be the perfect spot for future family meals. We'll definitely be back! read more

I really enjoyed this. It's a basic linguini in a cream sauce, but the fresh chicken and the herbs from the pesto really made this a dish I would order again - though I would have liked more of it. Highly recommend. My husband got the Colorado hot chicken sandwich - really enjoyed. Buffalo-ish in flavor. More of a mild-medium heat, but great because it wasn't overwhelming. 10/10. Happy hour prices are standard, half off all apps, excluding four, which are $5 off. We ordered the truffle fries for our started, delicious. My husband had the black & Bleu burger with a side salad, I had the pot roast French dip with fries. His burger was cooked perfectly and the side salad was so fresh. My French dip was good, one 1/2 of the sandwich was mostly fatty meat, but my husband loves that, so he happily ate that portion. The other half was perfection, so flavorful and juicy. We have already made our choices for the next time we come in. This place is chill, inviting, and fun. Never a bad experience here! The food is the best we've found in the Castle Rock area! I've never eaten inside, only on the patio which is so nice when weather permitting. The food is spectacular, creative and consistent. Their hand crafted cocktails are certainly some of the best I've ever had. The only time we had questionable service I realized they had given the bartender our (outdoor) table. Not fair for her that she had to bartend and wait our table. This place is dog friendly and we sat outside near the fire place which was great for a cold night. Service was very friendly and helpful when we had question. My server came right away and took my drink and food order. I drink came out right away. My food came out pretty quick too. At first glance, it was a little underwhelming. I ordered the avocado toast with cheesy eggs. I guess I was expecting something a little more elevated than what I could make at home. Maybe some extra toppings or nicer bread for the avocado toast? Everything tasted good, but I just felt like this was something I could've quickly whipped up at home myself and spiced it up a little bit. I did look around and see some other dishes that looked a little more elevated so I may have chosen a basic dish. All in all, I'd come back and try something different. I enjoyed my wine very much. We thought the burgers were good, though maybe slightly under seasoned. In fact, my husband salted his and I've never seen him do that. The amount of blue cheese added was pretty paltry. My bottom bun got super soggy from the grease off the burger. I ended up "knife-and-forking" it. I came here with my husband on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was busy, but had seating available. We sat outside and their patio area was very nice! I ordered the scallops with lemon risotto and my husband had the braised beef gnocchi. I will be honest and say that the scallops and lemon risotto was a little disappointing. The lemon risotto had too much lemon for my liking. The scallops tasted very salty. I had my husband try the scallops to get his opinion, and he agreed that they were quite salty. I tried his gnocchi dish and it as very good!! I definitely recommend that. Drinkswise, my husband ordered the Bee's Knees and I ordered the Blood Orange Mule. My drink was a little too heavy on the bourbon and so I asked for a little extra ginger beer to even it out. My husband really enjoyed the Bee's Knees. We ordered the gluten free chocolate layered cake for dessert and it was truly amazing! My friend had the quiche Loraine which she said was cooked perfectly and she liked that it was in a puff pastry shell instead of the traditional crust. For a main course, I had the Cajun Shrimp & Lobster Linguine, which came with butter poached lobster, cajun seasoned shrimp, and made from scratch Alfredo sauce which was flavorful and delicious. The hot chicken sandwich was also good and had a lot of toppings and sauce, but I didn't find it hot/spicy at all. Their chicken is really good, with a great breading to meat ratio. The side salad was pretty standard and I liked the blue cheese dressing, it was just thicker than I prefer. I'll defitstop in again and try a different meal. Discovered this place after doing some research trying to find a place to meet a friend halfway. This traditional restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Castle Rock and my first time being in the area. Menu has a lot to offer. Too bad we couldn't order everything. We ordered the Grilled Onion & Artichoke Dip. This was served warm in a bread boule, with grilled onions, artichokes, green onions, tossed in a creamy, cheesy sauce with assorted vegetables, and flatbread crackers for dipping. Ordered the Mussels & Chorizo appetizer as my meal and it was super filling. Mussels & Chorizo came with cilantro, lime, roasted red peppers, garlic and salsa verde broth, served with toasted bread for dipping. My friend ordered the Colorado Hot Chicken - tender fried chicken breast tossed in spicy Nashville hot sauce, spicy honey, Hatch chili spread, on a toasted challah bun with lettuce, tomato and pickles. She said that it was not hot or spicy at all. We came on a Sunday afternoon and the brunch rush had just finished, so it was not very busy, so the volume of the restaurant was not too loud. Service was a bit slow though, as we saw our servers just staring at us from afar while we tried to get their attention. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. He liked the burger of the most part, the taste was great but super messy. The fries were super yummy! We love Block and Bottle. The food is always great, I highly recommend the Thai Wrap which is yummy. My husband got their steak once and wasn't totally impressed but it isn't a steak place. They have a good selection of fancy drinks and change them up for different occasions. We have never had a bad server, and the place is nice. Make a reservation if possible, because it isn't the biggest place, but they do have a nice patio. read more
