We are the opportunity to go here a few weeks back during the day. Pretty much everything you're gonna read about this place is true. Everyone in there does seem to know each other and everyone in there is friendly, including the staff. We were able to get seated right away, but again, it was during the week. The staff and the patrons definitely have a small town feel despite being just minutes from both Highlands Ranch and Castle rock. The value was good and that is likely what will bring us back. What a fabulous little place just off 85 in Sedalia. It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere and an island oasis outside the sprawling metropolis. We were greeted and served by a wonderfully friendly and outgoing woman named McKenzie. She has a small town charm you rarely see in the city. She brought us drinks, took our orders, chatted us up kept us informed on the timeline of our orders. When the food came out, it was wonderfully prepared, hot, fresh and it was delicious. All the while McKenzie kept our drinks full and put smiles on our faces. The wings and garlic knots were first rate. My veggie calzone was perfect. We even took a jalapeño pizza for later. We ordered a few desserts for the road and tasted them when we got home. All were fantastic. Small town, homemade taste. I really wish this place was closer. It's a true gem and I'd eat there weekly if it was down the street from me. Donna, the owner, is a real class act and clearly cares about her customers and the products she puts forward. Stopped in at O'Brien's Cafe and had an incredible experience. The host/server was absolutely awesome -- friendly, attentive, and made me feel right at home. I ordered the meat skillet and it was spectacular -- perfectly cooked, hearty, and full of flavor. If you ever find yourself passing through or heading out on an adventure nearby, do yourself a favor and stop at this gem of a place. You won't regret it! The coconut cake is to die for. But you won't. It's moist and delicious. The only problem there is you order something off of the menu and it's great. Then you're full when another item is simply amazing. It's a great place to go. Your tastebuds won't be disappointed. Besides the great food, there is always a fun saying on the wall or in a nook or cranny. I live quite a distance from this cafe, but the trip is always worthwhile and scenic along the way. Classic American cafe with amazing food and an even better staff. O'Brien's club was piled high with fresh ingredients and the pancakes were up there with the best of them. We always choose O'Brien's as a midway meeting place for my family between Littleton and Castle Rock. I met my two grandchildren there today and I've got to say, we were served the worst pancakes I've ever eaten. They were so heavy and tough to even get a bite off them. My 17 yr old grandson didn't eat his pancakes and he'll usually eat his and half of mine. As usual the service was so friendly and coffee kept coming but am so sad to pay $15.95 for a plate of uneatable pancakes. read more

Came here for weekend brunch on a Sunday. The place is very small and certainly has kept its old town feel with the interior decor. It was busy and we just sat down at an open table that was kind of tucked away on the back right side of the cafe and were greeted by a waitress with menus pretty quickly. The menu has both breakfast or lunch options with very traditional cafe/diner food items. I went with the Spinach Roadkill with a side of hash browns-- sandwich was tasty, hash browns were a little bland (the house hot sauces that were in the table was a nice way to add flavor) . Atmosphere was a little congested but, many of the guests seemed to be regulars to the area and welcoming/talkative. read more

This picture says it all! Fabulous corned beef hash, eggs over easy, and hash browns. This cool old diner in Sedalia will be getting more of our business. Perfect Sunday morning breakfast. He had the pancakes with a ham steak and agrees, when you are looking for that filling, delicious, hit the spot, breakfast, this is the place. A table of six on a Monday morning with separate checks - no problem. Service was quick with regular follow up and checks were accurate. The breakfast burritos, both large and small were a big success. Smothered in a very likable green chili, a little hot but not debilitating.... Biscuits and gravy were also very good. Included a couple of eggs over medium and crispy bacon. The biscuits were homemade and were very light. Corned beef hash and eggs were very well received. We were looking forward to having breakfast and trying this place based on their reviews but when we arrived, they had a cardboard sign on their door that they were closed on Tuesdays. It was disappointing to have driven out to Sedalia after seeing their hours on Yelp as open on Tuesdays. I hope this saves others from trying them on a Tuesday. Hopefully we will try again! Went for breakfast. I had the full stack pancakes and they were really fluffy and good. My husband had the full stack French toast and he said they were just okay. The menu said they were Texas toast but looked like regular toast. The warm syrup made up for it though. $5.98 for two really watered down coffees is the reason I didn't give them 5 stars. My daughter and I had breakfast at O'Brien's Cafe. Her pancakes were yummy, and my biscuits and gravy were ok. (I'm admittedly a biscuits and gravy snob, and mine are better) The coffee was only average, but my daughter LOVED her hot chocolate, complete with sprinkles. :) We both, however, noticed the prominently displayed Trump photo and Trump 2020 paraphernalia when we walked in, which put a damper on our enthusiasm. I'm not against an establishment having a photo of the President on the wall, but the stickers and hat on the counter were too much. It made me feel unwelcome, and we won't be back. read more

Found this place by accident, and we are grateful! Food was amazing, the drinks were great and huge & the service was amazing!!! I had a Denver omelet, and it was perfect, I ordered a side of salsa and was surprised how amazing it was, our kiddo ordered a Pancake with eggs and bacon- and the Hubs ordered a Mexican omelet. We rarely finish our meals and no one left much food.... Take note, when we walked in, we asked for the banana choc chip bread to start, and they gave us an entire loaf grilled. Down home cooking, love this place. If there are 28 work trucks in the parking lot in the morning, it has to be awesome. And it is!

If you want to breakfast with the locals O'Briens is your place. It looks like O'Briens hasn't ploughed their profits back into spiffing up for a while. O'Briens is homey. Not a place to impress, but to socialize and eat plainly presented good American food. Want your hash browns extra crispy? They'll be that and the omelette will be tasty. No sprig of parsley, cantaloupe curl or orange wedge will brighten your plate. But they had gluten free bread. If I only judged on service and the nicest waitress met in years this place is 5 star. No wonder it's a local hangout. Good luck finding it for the first time if you're from out of town. I overshot the place completely three times. Take an immediate left before you hit the railroad tracks turning into town off the highway. Both Google maps and Tomtom were of limited usefulness: you'll keep looking for a place off the highway. O'Briens is off a frontage road. Short hours on a Saturday. The parking lot is uneven and unmarked so if you sport a walker or cane be careful. read more

I lived in Sedalia for many years and used to meet friends at O'Briens. It really is where locals go, and the nice thing is that every customer is treated with the same kindness and attention. I recently met dear friends for lunch while I was in town, and stepping through the door was like stepping into a time when life is a little less harried. Seven friends gathered around a table, and we ordered everything from omelets to burgers. If you like green chili, ask for it on your eggs. And ask for French fries instead of hash browns. They're awesome. While the food doesn't pretend to be farm-to-table, organic, free range, or any other such thing, it's good. But it's the company around the table and the atmosphere of having a meal in a friend's dining room is what makes O'Briens special. Try it out and you, too, will be transported to a simpler time. Disappointing. Had ok, possibly day-old cinnamon roll from Sedalia bakery with nuts (extra$), but served w/o the cream cheese frosting. Waitress forgot the cream cheese...annoying. Hubby's b'fast was just ok. Also frustrating that we had to wait very long time for coffee refill, waitress seemed to avoid us...hard to do in such a small room. She clearly was not inclined to serve us with the same friendly attitude provided to other patrons she probably knew. We really want to support local business, but we left frustrated and will likely not return. read more

I've been coming here for years and it's kind of like your typical diner breakfast spot it's pretty basic nothing fancy but I think they need to get new carpet and give the place a good scrub down. The food this time was mediocre. Poached eggs were not poached and hash browns were kind of dry. Will I go back ? Of course but I think they could do better and probably should do better. read more
