Apparently, they changed ownership and they changed their to barbecue. If that's their idea of barbecue, they need to work on it. They are not up too Buc-ee's quality of barbecue, that's for sure. Well, my standby- Buds was closed and I was in need of lunch, so it was a tossup between O'Malleys and Wide Open...I chose the latter but regret my decision. I've been here 3x over the past 2 years....I wanna like this place, and barring the food, its OK- The waitresses are fine and thorough but need some "smile training"...The setting is great, but the food is Meh at best...It's lunchtime and I don't need another overpriced Burger or sandwich, so I opted for the half wedge and cup of Green Chile..Wedge was OK but the Chile was doped up on sodium and lacked substance and flavor...and served in a paper cup...They can do better....I wish them well! read more

Walking in I was hit with an impressive stage to the right, spacious bar in the front and seating to the left and outside. We were greeted promptly and our drinks were to us within minutes. My BLTA was great and so were the sweet potato fries. My friend said her burger was good. This is a great place to stop after a hike or if you're driving the country side. My wife and I stopped in for lunch at the Wide Open Saloon in Sedalia, Colorado. It was a Friday afternoon about 3:30pm. The restaurant was severely understaffed having only one bartender and one server. The bartender acknowledged us as we sat down. After 15 minutes at the table, another party of four sat down and was promptly given menus. The server had waited on a table that arrived after us. I tried to get the attention of the server but she refused to make eye contact. My wife and I graciously left and thanked the bartender for the NON- SERVICE!! Unexpected! We went for a hike and decided to stop for lunch. The restaurant is really large and has a nice modern decor and beautiful views from the decks. Service is excellent- fast and friendly. We had onion rings and fried pickles for apps. Good ratio of breading to pickle/onion. The pickles were spears, not slices- but really good. We had Salmon Benedict- the hollandaise is NOT classic hollandaise- it's spicy- so if you don't like spicy or if you're craving hollandaise - it's not for you. It was salmon on what looked like crushed tater tots- but my friend ate all of it. Just know it's not a classic hollandaise. Wedge salad plus chicken- really great salad. I would describe the Wide Open Saloon as an upscale biker bar, if that's a thing. It is definitely not a dive bar. It is nice and clean inside. The location is cool with nice views. It is fairly large and has a rooftop patio. However, it is more expensive than other biker bars. I do not think the nachos I got were worth $15 nor the drink for $16. They have live music and brunch on the weekends with bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's. Still, the Wide Open is a great destination for a weekend ride. I've also been here for an event. They have a large room in the back that can be rented out for groups and they offer a bbq buffet. It was excellent bbq and service. read more

We came here on a Tuesday for lunch as we had just toured Cherokee Ranch and Castle. This institution has a fun dance floor and place for a band and karaoke. But the reason we stopped here was for the rooftop patio and its panoramic views of the area. Unfortunately this part of the saloon is open only on the weekend. We shared a beef sando and a grain bowl. The sandwich came with perfectly crisp tots. Our waitress, Serena M., was also the bartender. She was patient with our questions and once we realized no rooftop, we were ready to skidaddle BUT she was the reason we stayed. I'd go again! read more

I have driven by this place many times, now the mystery is over. Perfect place for motorcycle riding, rock and rolling Americans to eat some extra delicious food. Today I tried the Best Street Tacos I've ever tasted, they use like mozzarella cheese, and put it all together in a fried corn taco shell, Perfect combination with a rich flavor. The atmosphere is great, but the prices are somewhat excessive. Food is now subpar. The food used to be great. Prices have risen, and you are expected to check their website or Facebook for updates. If you attempt to call to speak with someone, good luck. Their phones have been disconnected since 2020. The staff tells you this. You are supposed to go on their website and wait for a response there. If you leave a Google review, the owner inundates you with comments claiming your review is invalid and that you, as a customer, are in the wrong. Trust me, go take a look! read more

A popular after work place among the locals, and the place was recommended to me by a friend. I went for Saturday brunch right when they opened, and I was disappointed that they weren't serving the eggs benedict. Opted for an array of items (Cantina Burger, Smoked Ribeye dip, breakfast sandwich, and side of burnt ends). - The burger was solid and a bit overcooked; pretty much an average burger. - The ribeye dip was probably the best item we got. The horseradish sauce was not too overpowering and the dip did a really good job at bringing the entire dish together. - Breakfast sandwich was nicely salty and fatty but a bit small for my taste to be a standalone main dish. - Burnt ends, unfortunately, fell very short. It was super tough and not seasoned. The bbq sauce was too sweet and seemed to just cover up how bad the burnt ends were. Definitely would make any Texan cry. Staff were super friendly and very attentive to our pace. Also, the views from the top floor are definitely special. read more

We arrived a few minutes after opening, not knowing what to expect. The previous reviews were all over the place. The bar was full of bikers drinking a cold beer. Lauren gave us our menus and we debated over a few things. Lauren asked us twice if we were ready to order. I thought that that was odd, usually it is difficult to get a waitstaff. But I imagine right after we ordered, the restaurant was inundated with bikers. They were doing some sort of run. I guess she did not want to scare us off by say 200 bikers will be here in a few minutes. I'll admit, we did feel like a fish out of water. But the ribs, smoked turkey, onion rings, and brisket macaroni and cheese arrived in a timely manner. And everything was delicious. The restaurant was pretty loud - it might not be like that all the time, but something tells me it might. Music was blaring out of the speakers, but when you think that saloon is in the name - I guess more might come for the entertainment. read more

Stopped in for lunch and a beer after hiking this past Friday. Never made it to the lunch part because the service was so bad. We did receive a number or eye rolls, which weren't on the menu, but were provided by our server in endless supply. Our first offense came because we didn't know what we wanted to order the second we sat down and were in the process of taking our jackets off. Next roll came because we took too long to make our beer order. There's no beer list, and our server didn't offer to tell us. So I went over to the bar and took a picture of the tap handles for our table. We ordered one round, drank em down and took our table of six somewhere else for lunch and more drinks. We are new to the area; moved to Castle Rock 6 months ago. This bar is fairly close, about a 20 minute drive away. We like live music....well we LOVE live music, especially classic rock tribute bands. We saw a couple of bands on the Wide Open Saloon schedule so thought we would try it out. We sent a message to Amanda and made reservations for a Saturday night, a Journey tribute band called "Still They Ride" was playing. We arrived on time, saw a table with our name on it...good to go! Darby was our server and we had great service all night! We met Joe, the manager, and Natalie, the booking agent and merch sales. Everyone was sooo nice. The band was terrific, a real quality act! We danced and sang all night! Oh, and a huge bonus, they bring out a flag before the show and the opening singer/guitarist sang the national anthem. Loved it! The only other time that happened was at a Ted Nugent concert, which if you know Uncle Ted, is just normal. We can't wait to go back! read more

We were looking forward to our first visit here. It turned out to be a two in one - first and last. Four lunches were ordered for a total of $66.00. 1 coffee ordered for $3.50 (served in a styrofoam cup.) One side, which we thought was included, was $6.00. Total of $75.50. Then came the surprises. The cup of coffee was old and acidic, so a second was ordered. No improvement, but we were charged for 2 cups at $3.50 each. 3 of us ordered water. It came in bottles, and we were charged $3.00. Asked if we wanted dipping sauce (ranch), we said yes. We were charged $4.00 for 4 small cups. And then there was the "venue fee" of $2.58, although there was no entertainment. That comes to $13.08 in junk fees. You can get by cheaper applying for a mortgage. The green chile served with the tacos was thin, about the color and texture of balsamic vinegar. Overall, the food was at best average. Server should have advised about all the junk fees. It's more or less a biker bar, with that kind of ambiance. In the 1950's, the original part of the building was a Johnson's Corner. We had many great lunches there. We miss that. read more

We're vacationing up in the mountains by Sedalia so needed to find a place to eat for dinner tonight. We landed on this place as some of the people I am with knew about the establishment. It is a very nice place! Lots of seating and very open. We went about an hour before the dinner rush so it was pretty empty so our food got out quick. All of the staff was very nice and very quick as well. The food was amazing! Usually bar food isn't the best quality but I really liked all of the stuff I had. I got chicken tenders for an appetizer. They are nice and crispy. I got ribs for my entrée and I really liked them! I'm not the biggest barbecue fan but decided to give it a shot and was not disappointed. The fries were also very good. They have a merch shop as well so we got some shirts and I really like my knit long sleeve I got. Definitely give this place a try! I'm hoping to make it back out some day to watch some live music and see all the bikers in action but I had a great time none the less! read more
