The food here is very good, but Dos Santos suffers from being overpriced and without being able to justify it. I am happy to pay a bit more for a great meal, but with small portions and a limited menu Dos Santos does not deliver against what they are charging. While the service was very good, the space is really compact so it made it feel like I was seated with the table next to mine. It also made it difficult to physically eat our food as the dishes barely fit on the small tables. The menu seems over-engineered lacking some basic options without one ingredient that tries to justify the outrageous price tag of their tacos. Overall if you like taking a second mortgage on your house to leave hungry and unsatisfied, while learning about the next tables life because they are nearly sitting on your lap, you may like Dos Santos. read more

I've been to the location in Denver many times and this was about the same. The server was great, the tacos were very good (I had beer battered shrimp and mushroom boomer). The only complaint was the queso... it was a bit weird and hard to eat as it was like eating a big bowl of melted mozzarella so it was hard to actually dip and there wasn't much flavor to it. I stopped by here a while ago but didn't have time to dine. Today worked out and our waitress recommended poke nacho's and it was delicious. It comes with just 4 chips as you can see. When I found out recently that Dos Santos is now in Castle Rock I decided to check it out with my date. The restaurant is clean and modern and there's plenty of seating. I enjoyed the libations specifically the spicy margarita. The spicier the better. My date had a traditional margarita. We mostly ordered off of the happy hour menu. From my enjoyment of the past the enjoyment of the present was lackluster. The crispy fish tacos were delicious and were our favorite items to order. The owl, Pastor was overwhelmed by pineapple. The poke chips were good, except there were only four which were gobbled up quickly. The pork belly which was my favorite taco to order downtown is sad in this location. There is a strange glaze on the top and way too much lettuce that overwhelms the pork belly, it is no longer braised but fried. The service was good. Everyone in the restaurant seemed extremely young, except for the cooks and the general manager. The bill was pretty high, especially for ordering off of the happy hour menu. There was an addition to add spice to each of my margaritas. My date does not want to go back. I hyped it up so much due to the downtown location. This review applies to the breakfast burritos only. Three of us tried the burritos this morning; I chose the El Chilango. The Mrs had an El Cali with bacon. The F-I-L had the El Classico with sausage. The Mrs enjoyed hers and they cooked the bacon to a crispy state. Both the F-I-L and I were ambivalent about our experience. His comment was "couldn't taste any meat" and "he wouldn't be heart broken if he didn't have it again". For me, the biggest thing missing was ANY level of spice. I kinda feel I turned three shades whiter after eating it, but must admit the ingredients were fresh. If I need to come back, I will be sure to bring my own serranos. We went to Dos Santos for the first time last Saturday. We chose a table indoors. The metal chairs were not very comfortable and the table was super wobbly. My husband folded a napkin under part of the table to make it stop wobbling. The menu options are great. The prices are on the high side, for sure. My ($12) house margarita was tasty. My husband enjoyed his ($9) can of beer. We started with the poke nachos ($16). They were nice to look at and absolutely amazing, so good! My husband had the Steak Arrachera taco ($6.25). He said it was delicious and cooked perfectly to a med-rare. He loved that because he says most places cook the *^#@ out of the beef. I had the Governor's Shrimp taco ($6) and it was scrumptious. Dos Santos? More like Dos Grease-o's. This place had some of the greasiest food I've ever seen or eaten in my life, gave several people at our table tummy issues. Very mid-at-best tacos & quesadillas. The drinks were so full of ice, you got maybe 3 sips of the horchata until it was gone, and for $5, that's so not cool. Bonus points, the servers and manager were exceptionally rude to our table, which was uncalled for - we were polite and respectful to the wait staff and only asked where our food (appetizers/shareables) was after 45 minutes. On top of that, they never ONCE asked us what we wanted to drink, and we ordered our drinks with our meal orders instead, again without having been asked, which meant that one got missed. One person at our table got missed for food entirely and was left waiting for a long while, watching the rest of us eat. Two of us, sitting far apart from one another, ordered tacos that were served to us "family style" (not listed on the menu) and when asked why, we were told "it's just our policy, all tacos are served family style" with a snarky tone. This is not listed on the menu anywhere, by the way. When we asked for plates to separate them, our waitress was surprised (?) that we had asked and kept saying "okay so you want some fresh clean plates?" While gesturing to our dirty, stacked appetizer plates. We explained that we didn't know the tacos would come out family style so we had already stacked them up, and apologized. She walked away to get us plates, and then later another waitress came by with our other friend's tacos on his own **individual** plate. The decor was tacky and weird, very "we're expensive bougie so we can charge an arm and a leg while being worse than fast food". My disappointment is immeasurable, we will not be returning. Edit: I was informed by another friend at my table that several of them witnessed a manager YELLING at a member of staff. Like, full on screaming at them. Incredibly rude and disrespectful. Came here on a Friday night for tacos and drinks. It was busy but we were able to get seated right away. The wait staff was super friendly and attentive during the evening. They had great drink and food recs! Our table loved the variety of margs and other cocktails available, and boy were they strong. We all got a variety of tacos. Our favorite was a monthly special and I will beg of you to bring back the jalapeño popper taco more often because it was SO. DAMN. GOOD. We started with chips and Guac - didn't love love the seasoned chips as they had some spice that my toddler couldn't eat. I walked by this place several times whenever in the downtown area of Castle Rock. While having coffee at a nearby coffee shop, I remembered that Dos Santos serves breakfast burritos DAILY from 7:00 am - 11:00 am. So glad I remembered because I've been wanting to try a favorite breakfast treat of mine from Dos Santos! I love how the menu is so simple. They offer four different types of breakfast burritos. I had the El Classico. It has Two Fried Eggs, Asadero, Potatoes, Habanero Aioli, and with a choice of meat for add-on. Those choices are Bacon or house made Chili-Fennel Sausage. I chose the Chili-Fennel Sausage. It takes about 10 minutes to make the breakfast burrito. They provide it in a paper bag with napkins and choice of two salsas. Salsas seem home made and are fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast burrito! I enjoyed it so much that I bought another for a friend of mine. Their breakfast burrito is one of the best I ever had. The service was great too. The lady who took my order was very friendly and personable. I loved that she had a smile on her face! Total cost of my breakfast burrito was $8 plus. I highly recommend Dos Santos if you're in downtown Castle Rock on a daily morning. Hope you enjoy! First time here, we came late on a Monday night after a long drive. Needing a cocktail, we were happy to hear that Monday is all-day happy hour on a handful of drinks. We had a round of their house margaritas. Happy hour prices of $9 weren't bad compared to the regular prices, but still a little steeper than you'd expect, considering the small highball-type glass used for the serving. They had good taste, but not sure how much alcohol was in them. We started with the chips and salsa. Really love the flavor and texture of the chips, and that the order comes with both red and green salsa. Nothing against the red, but we all enjoyed the green better. Also, nice that they'll bring you more chips as long as you have salsa remaining. Everyone enjoyed their food too. My wife thought the cheese quesadillas were very good, and my daughters and I liked our street tacos. They are quite small, maybe 4" in diameter, but they're packed with a good amount of toppings with amazing flavors. The Korean beef barbacoa was my and one daughter's favorite. The other liked that one too but thought the chicken tinga may have been her favorite. The steak was also good. I didn't realize the OMFG was in lettuce instead of a tortilla, but that actually made it more food, so I was happy. It was a bit messy to eat but quite tasty. Prices on their own aren't too bad, but it adds up quick. Over $100 for the four of us for not a ton of food, but the flavors were on point, and none of us were starving when we left. Service was fine, and everything came out quick. I could've used another margarita had I been asked earlier, but it was probably for the best. This restaurant is beautiful, and the location is delightful. However, as a vegetarian, i don't recommend at all. Very minimal options. The cauliflower tacos were so terribly bland and essentially just wet boiled cauliflower on a raw tortilla. They also came on an old wooden cutting board with old food stuck in the cracks. We told our server our concerns and was told "the owner brought the boards back from mexico and they're special to him" .. which is great for him. But still unsanitary. Bummer. read more

I visited Dos Santos for the first time in two years, and the experience was very different. The margaritas were fabulous and our sever was nice! But the rest of the experience was subpar. The biggest concern for us was the noticeable change in the quality of the food. We ordered about 6-7 different tacos to try (some we've had before), and all were average at best. It seemed that everything was missing salt and other seasonings. The lettuce, microgreens, cilantro, and guacamole were starting to brown and wilt. The tortillas were under cooked which made eating the tacos difficult, and the fryer oil tasted old. Overall, the experience was a let down especially for a +$120 bill in the end. My husband is an executive chef; we know enough about food to recognize what appears to be a lack of care in the quality of the food served. It's sad because previously, it wasn't this way, the food was great, and the atmosphere was fun and exciting. Went here on a business lunch. For starters, it is perfectly situated for a stroll in downtown Castle Rock! No wait getting in, which was nice for our lunchtime constraints. Our group sampled the salsa flight, which consisted of 4 salsa types and bottomless chips. My top-rated was the mango salsa, followed by the molcajete, tomatillo then the pico salsa. You order the tacos a la carte. I picked the beer-battered shrimp, the taco al pastor and the porky lechon. The Porky was by far my favorite of the three thanks to the slow cooked meat and toppings. Al pastor was decent followed by the beer-battered shrimp. Super sad about this one, because I had high hopes after reading the description! Mine was about 2/3 fried batter with what I believe was a small popcorn shrimp inside. Not too much flavor on my taco, which was a huge miss. Overall, nothing really knocked or out of the park as far as the tacos I ordered. Service was super friendly and attentive. Price-wise, I can't say I'd be returning here for the experience.
