Took my 93-year-old aunt shoe shopping today. What a great experience! Due to a brace she wears, finding shoes that fit is problematic. We found a few pairs she liked but because of the brace, the velcro wouldn't reach. After a few minutes of brainstorming, we decided to try a Velcro product I had seen before. A quick trip to Home Depot and we were back with the solution. Ryan was so patient and accommodating, making sure her shoes were adjusted properly and that she felt safe and comfortable. Karen served me even we went in the store 15 minutes before closing. She chose a pair of shoes with special insoles to cushion my feet. I have been having great pain every step at work. I chose one more pair as my friend wore that. I am going to rotate the two pairs of shoes to see whether my pain may subside. Took my 88 yr old Mom here with her exceptionally gnarled toes. Fearing the worst especially that they wouldn't have anything for her to wear that would be comfortable! Was I wrong! Chuck stepped in and saved the day just as we had lost all hope! She now has shoes that she loves and says they feel so comfortable that she forgets they are brand new! Chuck and the staff here cared for my Mom and even showed us the bunion stretcher for leather so they can make a stretch wherever there is need due to a bump or lump in the leather on the foot of the wearer! We were even offered free shipping for next day on her particular special shade she wanted, burgundy instead of black. LOVE THIS PLACE, clean, huge inventory, great bathrooms too! My mother who is near 80yo purchased a pair for $140, SAS being her favorite store. At the time of purchase she's asked that the left one be stretched more and the right barely. After a week she went to pick up the shoes only to find that they were stretched the other way around. While it may be company policy that once stretched, shoes cannot be returned, should it be the customer to "foot" the mistake ? So, mom was told to take the shoes and leave - there's nothing they can do. While I understand that errors may be made and someone got confused, would it not be fair that the company address the mistake?, to own the mistake? Review edited to with update: store manager called to inform that the employee should have confirmed with upper management to assess prior to sending customer away, therefore the exception will be made for a replacement. YOU WROTE: "We have such a delicate age group that frequent our stores, we have to look out for their well being and make sure their experience is as pleasant as possible" I guess you could care less about someone in their mid thirties that was disabled and had to use your shoes? That just wanted the shoes he paid over $200 and they fell apart fixed. YOU WROTE: "....however we will not tolerate anything that could potentially scare or hurt one of our very appreciated loyal senior customers." So are you saying that someone that is not a senior is not a loyal customer? I would have been a loyal customer if I was threatened by one of your employees that came from around the counter at me! If someone that is active in their 30's finds a need for your shoes they will probably be back for another pair sooner that the senior that might not be as active. In the end it's probably not a best practice to be discriminatory toward any one age group in general. Maybe you should read my whole review first. The shoes were comfy. The person who sold them to me was awesome. It was YOU and "Richard" that were real jerks. Look at the other reviews. I am not the only one saying this! I have plantar fasciitis, wear shoe inserts, and find SAS's "JOY" loafer (and another style like it) fit my needs very comfortably and look sharp with modern ankle slacks. I have tried many other "comfort" brands and find SAS, with their full-grain leather shoes (inside and out) are the most comfortable. Only athletic shoes rival my SAS loafers. The store is large, well stocked with all shoe sizes (there are more sizes in the back if they don't have them out on the self-serve shelves), and has a friendly staff. I found out about SAS back when my very old mom bought their lace-up old-lady shoes. Then, I understand, the daughters of the founder of SAS brought in stylish shoes--which are catching on with all ages. read more

These are the most comfortable pair of Dress Shoes I have ever worn! Yes, I said Dress Shoes. For the most part I am a suit and tie guy and have seen what SAS has put out as far as shoes go in the past, but trust me on this, they have come a long way. Don't come here expecting to get discounted shoes as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for is in full effect here. I almost feel guilty walking in these shoes which by the way the style name is the AMBASSADOR and it's a perfect match. So, if you feel like being in your slippers while you're working go see SAS to pick up a pair of comfortable kicks. Great Friendly service as well. I cane here because I have a new job that requires me to be on my feet most of the day. I spent a lot of time at other stores not finding any shoes that were comfortable. I wish I came here first. I come to this location to return a pair of shoes I bought for a family member and I'm greeted with a condescending attitude and no help. I was told to speak to the manager. I asked who was second in command I'm told no one I drove 43 miles just to come to this location. I don't recommend coming here unless you would like to be treated like a second rate citizen. I took a friend in to look for good work shoes and he has to be on his feet all day. He wanted a pair of slip-ons. We were fortunate enough to get Perla to help us and she was fantastic! I didn't think slip-ons were the right shoe for him as he had always worn lace ups for 18 years. She picked up on my comment and brought over 3 different pairs of lace-ups and she changed the width because she could eyeball that the first pair was too wide. Darned if she didn't nail it. He ended up getting 3 pairs of shoes- all lace ups and walked out very happy! Perla understood his needs well and handled his Aspergers very well. She explained everything in detail and overlooked his shortcomings. She was gentle and kind and was just perfect! She is a great asset to the company. I have difficulties finding my shoe size - 4 to 5 1/2 depending on the style of shoe. SAS has a variety of shoes and styles. They are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever tried. So comfortable that I literally threw out all my uncomfortable shoes and replaced with SAS shoes. The Allegro style is my favorite. Go see Chuck. He is always there on Fridays. And most important is friendly and care of staff to customer. They take time to measure your feet also have you try on different sizes till you got the one that fit you. I wasn't a fan of SAS because they are not fashionable to my taste and overpriced but it was insisted that I try a least one pair. So I did and what a mistake. The shoes hurt and feels uncomfortable. I brought them back to get them stretched a few times and they still feel uncomfortable. A few of them are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful but AVOID getting any type of service by an older lady by the name of Karen. She is VERY rude!! She has an attitude and is NOT helpful. Unacceptable customer service. Lost a customer of 5 years. Yesterday my father and I went and bought two pairs of shoes from the store. When one of the pairs were out of stock, they offered to ship them from the Santa Ana branch and allow us to pick it up today. Everything seemed good and well until we found there was a slight issue with the stitching of the shoes we bought. So when we went to pick up today (Friday 3/17 at 7pm if the owners want to look up who was working at this time), we brought along the other pair of shoes in hopes of getting a replacement. When we got to the store, we were appalled by the service. The salesman at the counter refused to acknowledge the problem and even berated us for wanting to replace the shoes. He was rude and abrasive and seemed like he was about to escalate the situation. I believe he was the one in charge as the other salesman in the store stood meekly aside, ignoring the confrontation that was occuring before his eyes. Never have I ever seen a salesman raise their voice at their customer given that all we asked for was an exchange. In the end, I simply requested a refund for both shoes and left. My family has been loyal customers of SAS shoes for more than 5 years. Never have we been treated so rudely. As a parting remark, he told us that our names are "in the system" and we won't be sold shoes neither here nor at the Santa Ana branch. Well good riddance, I will never be returning to a store with such terrible service and will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

i loved the costumer service, to be honest i was not very impressed when i walked in ,and saw all these brown and black moses wandering in te desert type of looking shoes.. but as soon as i got greeted by this nice gentleman, and he showed me a pair of sandals, i felt a lil better, the style was nothing fancy and as soon as i put them on i felt in heaven. he also offered a coupon for 15 dollars off and complimented my crazy toe... the price point is moderated not cheap but not ridiculous. i will definitely will go back and repurchase, his service was outstanding and the quality of the shoe speaks for itself. i am a happy costumer. only have one suggestion. make yourself available online either thru facebook or a private website. read more

This is a review of this particular SAS Shoes location and not of the shoes. I have been wearing SAS shoes for years. Not long after I bought my last pair, four years ago, I moved. Today was the first time I have ever been to the SAS Shoe store in Orange and it is also the last time I'll enter that store. They were grossly understaffed and the one young man who was working was incompetent at best. I picked out several pairs of shoes I wished to try. Since it has been over 4 years since I last bought shoes, I needed my foot measured to know what size to try. Took a while, with me holding the selected shoes, for the young man to 1) acknowledge my presence and 2) see if I needed assistance. I told him I was interested in trying on the selected shoes but did not know my shoe size. He took the selected and sent me over to a seat after a few minutes he measured my foot and asked what style shoes I was interested. I reminded him he took my choices. He had not a clue what he did with the shoes. I had to start again, went to try them on and for the first time ever, a SAS employee couldn't care less that I was trying on the shoes, that the size he said was wrong. I packed up my belongings and walked out. Never once did he look up and realize he lost a sale. read more

Worst customer service I've EVER experienced. Stay away from Steven. Ask for ANYONE else. I've been going to this store, although it changed locations, for decades. NEVER been treated the way I just was. NEVER had a problem. This guy used the following language with me: "You're not on MY commission." "Do what you have to do." (When asked about what appears to be a non existent manager on site.) "You came in here with an attitude. I don't need it." "You need better people skills." "I can refuse you service." (AFTER I'd bought a pair of shoes and was there to pick them up.) "The sooner you get out of the store the better." That last one is priceless. I'd already contacted corporate after the way I was spoken to on the phone yesterday by the same guy. We'll see what corporate has to say about not having a manager I could speak with over a whole weekend and what they have to say about this person representing their company. read more

I just bought my third pair of shoes from SAS and as usual, it is the only store that I can buy a shoe that fits well and feels good. They look nice too. The salesperson, Richard, was outstanding, and the store is very clean. The bathroom was very clean and very pleasant. Last week I went to a dozen shoe stores looking for something more stylish, and sighed and realized I could only get a decent fit at SAS. But to my surprise their selection has become more stylish and colorful and modern, yet still fit my surgically impaired foot. So cheers to SAS. read more
