I would say this place is known for their baguettes which is probably what makes the banh mi sandwich here pretty great. If you're looking for really good banh mi sandwiches in the SFV, look no further. This isn't the best banh mi I've personally had but its great when you're stuck in the valley. The baguettes are baked fresh. They put a good amount of butter and pate their sandwiches than their competitors in the area which is arguably the best thing ever for some umami and the bread isn't too hard that they cut your upper palette. I often eat the #6 bbq pork, #10 egg and #17 tofu banh mis. Can't go wrong with any though. Prices are fair considering you're getting a whole banh mi baguette. A truly great Banh Mi! Was gifted an extra sandwich and what a gift. Grilled beef which is some kind of patty sausage with a texture like kefta but very different flavor. Quite beautifully spiced! 4 Stars because this is one of the most expensive Banh Mi place I've ever been to considering there are other Banh me places walking distance from Sandwich Express. I ordered the following: Pork Loaf with BBQ pork with extra meat and pate. This sandwich was $8. However, it did weigh almost 1/2 lb but it's still pretty expensive. The sandwich was very filling and good especially with their freshly baked bread. The place is very clean and it does get crowded some times. Best banh mi in the Valley. And you know it's legit when they bake their own baguettes the right size. Have you noticed other banh mi shops wherein they'll bake the baguette to the size of their sandwiches? That's weird to me. Also, one of the few places that'll have headcheese in their Special. I'm so used to ordering their Dac Biet that when I go to other places, I wonder why there's only a pork loaf and maybe pate - how is that a Dac Biet?! Of the two banh mi shops we've tried in Reseda, we prefer this one. The bread is amazing (and more of a long baguette than a sub) and I like that they add Maggi sauce (like a more flavorful soy sauce) in addition to mayo to their sandwiches. My favorite is the beef banh mi. The beef is like a meatball loaf and has hints of lemongrass. I usually remove the fresh jalapeño slices because they can be a bit too spicy. The tuna banh mi was good but with the addition of lettuce and tomato it doesn't taste like a traditional banh mi. I wish they had a bigger variety of other Vietnamese dishes (like banh beo or bhan khot). Don't get the soup! Stick to the banh mi. read more

After receiving a recommendation from my fellow Yelper Steph my daughter and I decided to try this place. Located on busy Sherman Way in Reseda it is an unassuming establishment. The feel is similar to eating somewhere in Chinatown where the venue and area are nothing to write home about. The inside is simple and basic with lots of pictures of different Bahn mi meats and assortments. We ordered a grilled pork and shredded chicken Bahn mi sandwich to try. The baguette is soft and tender and the sandwiches were flavorful and filling. It has ruined all other banh mi for me because of the balance of the bread, pate, meat, vegetables, soy sauce and mayo. If you don't like vegetables, you ask them to exclude it or put it on the side. I also like ordering a lot of sandwiches, refrigerating it and eating it later throughout the week. The bread may not be as crispy the following days, but it's still very delicious. They serve sandwiches, soups, Vietnamese appetizers and smoothies. I was a little hesitant after I ordered my sandwiches because I saw their health score posted on the door and it's a "B". I try to avoid eating at places with health scores less than an A but it was too late. Surprisingly... their sandwiches are legit!! The baguette was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The grilled pork was very tasty and I asked for extra pate. It was packed with lots of cilantro but I wish there was more pickled carrots and radish. This place is one of our favorite go tos. The Bahn Mi sandwiches are insanely good. Our family craves them and goes out of our way to plan a meal around getting these.
