Club Sandwich
Larissa M.

Sandwich Man has been a beloved part of the San Fernando Valley since 1977, and it's easy to see why. This charming, deli-style restaurant offers a warm, nostalgic feel along with a menu full of comforting favorites sandwiches, salads, omelets, french toast, and more. I visited for the very first time and was pleasantly surprised to find a cozy indoor dining area, which turned out to be the perfect spot to catch up with a friend. I ordered the Mile High Pastrami sandwich, and I loved that you can choose your bread. I went with sourdough, but the staff mentioned that most people prefer it on rye. The sandwich comes with a choice of potato salad or coleslaw--I chose the coleslaw, and it was absolutely delicious. To my delight, it also came with a pickle, which, in my opinion, makes every meal better. My friend ordered the Italian Club sandwich, which looked just as amazing, and added a side of chips to round it out. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming, patiently walking us through the menu and offering helpful suggestions. Their kindness and attention made the experience even more enjoyable. Will definitely be back soon!

What a quant little spot! Located on the corner of Mason and nordhoff service is great! It's a small joint but food is fresh and delicious it's open for breakfast. No frills just plain good home foods Dad and I had a little date and we shared French toast, omelette and egg and bacon plate comes with potatoes and your choice of buttered toast. Super filling and guess what? The house salsa was so bomb!!! Great compliment to my breakfast eggs and potatoes. Come check them out.

Been living near this spot for years and decided to finally give it a try! Customer service was excellent, I was undecided on which sandwich I wanted to try and the cashier helped me decide. Big portions, will definitely come back to try some of the other sandwiches on the menu! I did takeout, but the inside of the restaurant had plenty of seating and was very clean.

Sandwich man, sandwich man, can you make me a good sandwich? Yes you can! I haven't been able to find a really good sandwich place since I was a young girl, that isn't a chain you know. There used to be a spot called the Belly Deli in Inglewood, CA. It's not there anymore, been long gone but on Saturday nights my dad would pick sandwiches for the family with fries and they were always good. Never missed. Then there was King's Deli in Gardena and they were always good as well but I live in the valley. Well I think I found my new sandwich spot. I ordered a Mile High Pastrami sandwich, it was $18 and some change. I asked the guy who took my order if he could cut the sandwich in half and wrap it and put it in one bag or two separate bags if he had small bags because I wanted to share with my son. He obliged. I chatted with him for a minute while they made my sandwich, about how nice and clean his place was and he told me the place had been in business since 1977. He told me to be honest if I don't like the sandwich but I told him I had a good feeling I was going to like it but I am always honest. So, I take my bag and go to the car and I smell fries so I open the bag and found that he cut the sandwiches in half and gave me two separate containers both with fries! And when I say the fries were so good, perfectly cooked and perfectly salted the way I like them - I was happy I tried this place. Now to the sandwich. It comes with delicious pastrami, coleslaw on toasted bread and when I tell you that first bite took me back to Inglewood and the Belly Deli - please believe it. I actually saw a pic of the sandwich we used to get and I am going back to get it because I ate the whole half and all my fries! And basically I got a meal for two under $20. Thats good considering today's food prices. And the man behind the counter was so nice. I will be back. Gracias buen señor.

Went here with my wife for the first time, and I gotta say, it was worth the drive out to Northridge/Winnetka area!! This grilled chicken sandwich was amazing!!! It's offered with an amazing side if potato salad, and I gotta say it was amazing. The gentleman behind the counter was really nice taking our order!! It's nice and quiet for a sandwich shop, but I love the small look of it all. Definitely worth the drive!!!

Wow, I feel like a heel (pun intended) for writing a 3-star review while almost everyone else is raving. Let me explain myself, please. My blushing bride has been talking about Sandwich Man for a long time, especially commenting on how popular this place is. So we were excited to try it. My blushing bride ordered takeout and brought it home to me. A really good menu and friendly staff, she said. The sandwiches looked and tasted very fresh. It's quite apparent that Sandwich Man is a highly skilled sandwich craftsman. The meat seemed freshly sliced and the vegetables were fresh. So why am I not so enthused, you may ask. Well, I guess I expected more. Mind you, it was an acceptable sandwich, but not exceptional. The meat, bread and cole slaw, especially, is exactly like what we buy at Albertsons. We like Albertsons deli products and buy there often. But at a top rated sandwich shop my expectations were a bit higher. The pickle was a 5-star pickle, though.

Gorgeous Turkey Burger, piled with grilled onions & mushrooms.

By tasting the eggs in the omelette, I can tell that there's effort put into the ingredients and seasoning the slight pleasant creaminess of the eggs tell the whole story and the selection that goes into the scramble is so delicious! And fitting I recommend the chicken apple sausage in the omelette. It's not even a question of whether or not I'll be enjoying my morning here again it's a firm most definitely! My sister ordered the Belgian Liege Waffle with Berries and Banana. I ordered the Chimichurri Steak Quesadilla. We shared foods and hit the ultimate combo of savory and sweet. We saved the Waffle for dessert. The most surprising thing was how amazing and crisp the waffle was after we ate the savory parts of our shared meals. This is the second location in The Valley. Since it was going to be a long wait, my wife and daughter waited in the car and I asked the hostess if it was cool if I sat down by the bar area and order a coffee which I plan to pay for. I was told by the hosts that that area is first come first serve so she didn't see a problem with it so I sat there. One of the gentleman that works there asked if I wanted anything to drink so I ordered a coffee. Moments later, while drinking my coffee the lady that's assigned to that section asked if I wanted to order anything or if I needed a menu which then I informed her that I was waiting for a table and was told it was cool if I sat there while I drank a coffee. She then rudely stated in Spanish. "I DON'T MAKE MONEY THAT WAY" then storms off. The lady starts complaining to her coworkers and they start looking my way. They then inform the guy that always wears a black shirt and slick back hair who I believe is a manager and he comes over and explains that this section is for walk ins that plan to sit and eat here and am welcomed to wait outside or in the waiting area.I informed him it wasn't a problem but thats the reason I asked from the beginning. I also mentioned we drove from Simi Valley to come here and there were many other restaurant options but I told him how the waitress treated me and he said he would talk to her. I told him I would pay for the coffee and I would leave. He said don't worry about the coffee. I didn't even finish my coffee I set it down and left. After coming here for years with family, friends, even referring this place to others I WILL NEVER COMEBACK AGAIN. We made our way to the Country Café in Chatsworth and of course got great hospitality and food.

The service from sitting down to leaving was exceptional and welcoming as our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. I ordered the Bee Eggs Benedict which was packed with flavor. The serving was adequate and what I think sets it apart from other eggs Benedict's I've had is that they kept this simple. Some versions have so much going on and the flavors contrast each other leading more to a mush. This version is much more direct so that the flavor from the sauce, eggs, protein and potatoes was highly noticeable. My friend ordered the panwhich which is a play on a pancake sandwich that that serving was huge haha. The inside of the restaurant is very spacious and optimal for small or large parties.
