Came here to celebrate a birthday with family. A nice, big space...a little too loud the night we…read morecame but that's okay. My dinner was especially good....the chicken fried perfectly...all dark meat the way I like it. The potato salad was not what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm used to a mayo based potato salad but this was even better with lots of flavor! The corn was also delicious. Everyone was very happy with their dinners. The chicken and waffle dish was also good. Ratio of breading to chicken was perfect and perfectly seasoned. The honey butter that came with it was also delicious. The New Orleans shrimp bowl was great too. The ratio of shrimp, which was perfectly cooked, to rice was good. Lots of great flavor. I think that everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. The only "ding" would be the service. We had to ask for silverware so we could eat and had to wait for straws because she forgot. I'm still going to give it 5 stars even though the service was lacking a bit. She was very nice but seemed rushed.

What a disappointment today. Party of 4 to celebrate a birthday. I suggested the restaurant and was…read morequite surprised by how drastically different this visit was compared to the previous. I ordered the Social salad. It was good but the presentation was trash. I also got a cup of the She - Crab soup. It was also just okay and certainly overpriced. Husband got the Pork Belly Burnt Ends at my suggestion. He asked if they had sauce added to them and if so, to get it on the side. Our server said they are prepared and the sauce caramelizes so no, no sauce. He asked due to being a type 1 diabetic and needed to calculate his insulin. Well, they came out covered in fresh sauce and were too dry to swallow. There were six chewed up bits of pork left on his plate when it was cleaned away. The Texas toast was the only redemption. Lastly the two others shared the half bird entree. Presentation was haphazard and the chicken was visually dry looking. They ate most of it and said the biscuit and sweet potatoes were good. The food alone wasn't bad enough to keep me away; but combining it with the service was. Our server Laura (sp?) didn't make her debut well after we've been sitting 10 minutes. We were there at 5:30 on Sunday. It wasn't busy at all. She was very nice. Her second stop was to take our orders. Food runner came and asked if we needed anything else. I asked for water as my glass was bone dry (I even ate my ice) and others' were 1/4-1/3 full. She said she couldn't bring beverages. It's water...not vodka. Weird. So Laura eventually comes back and filled our drinks and left the bill. She did overhear the birthday happenings and was nice enough to offer a free dessert. She got her cash payment and we never saw her again. Maybe it was the end of her shift? It just felt off. The table next to us had quite a few complaints and had a different server, so maybe there was just a bad vibe with the staff today? Hopefully management can figure it out. Bathrooms were nice and decor was nice throughout the restaurant.

We had reservations and were seated immediately. I chose the spare ribs for my dinner and Husband had the pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were served with a zesty dry rub and sauce on the side. They were nice and tender. The meal came with Texas toast which I didn't try because the ribs were sitting right on top of it. It also had a piece of corn on the cob. Wish my meal would have been a titch hotter in temp but the food was tasty. We finished with the smoky crème brûlée which was delicious. The layout was cozy and dark with the bar at the center. I could see it being lively and loud on a busy night. Service was excellent. We took our time ordering and never felt rushed. Our food came out super fast. The staff worked as a great team.

Great BBQ - 4 stars…read more Amos & Amos is a quirky place. And I have to admit, I love the weirdness. According to the owner, they've been around for 9 years. But the building itself is an old A&W drive-in fast food joint, built in 1953. Very cool! Most people seem to drive around the back of the building and pull into one of the parking spots that were "order from your car" spaces back in the day. Or you can just park on the street. Then you walk up to the window and place your order. Easy, right? This is where it starts to get weird. The sliding order window has 2 basement window well covers bolted over the sliding doors, like a big clam shell. The owners cut a flap in the bottom that only opens from the inside. Apparently, this is some sort of home-made do-it-yourself security thing. It seems to do the job...but you can't talk to them and they can't hear you until they slide open the door and then shout through the clam shell. And they don't seem to be in a hurry to do anything. I stood around like an idiot for a while, watching the lady, until she FINALLY slid the door open and talked to me. Kinda hard to hear through the big plastic clam shell. Speaking of shouting...you wait in your car or stand outside for 15 or 20 minutes and they yell when your food is ready. You can't hear what they're saying when they shout...but it all seems to workout okay. Like I said - quirky. LOW CARB: Okay, on to the most important thing: the food. I got the rib tip combo meal with a big hot link. Both were excellent. The rib tips were amazingly tender and lathered in generous amounts of a sweet sauce. Great taste. My hot link was huge and flavorful. For some reason, it reminded me of a big blood sausage. Good stuff. Unfortunately, you can't get any meat without sides. And all of the sides are plants. So in addition to my meats, I received and payed for unwanted carbohydrates of coleslaw, white bread toast, and a huge mountain starchy of fries. Those all came home with me to feed the Blue Jays and the Squirrels. That was kind of a waste of food but I had no choice about the high starch carbohydrate sides. I like this place. The meats are great. But it's a little frustrating if you eat low carb. It would be awesome if these guys sold meat by the pound, like many of the other BBQ joints. Oh, well. It was worth the stop. -Maxx

This restaurant just happened to be right across the street from our hotel in Arden Hills, Minnesota. The other Old Southern BBQ we went to was last night in Hudson, Wisconsin. Now we have been to bbq joints all over the country. Both of the Old Southern BBQ's we've been to are absolutely amazing! The brisket is moist and has a wonderful smoke flavor. The ribs were great also. They were meaty and again, had a really nice smokey flavor to them. The service was great! The workers answered questions about the menu items and were very helpful in making our decision on what to order. The restaurant was very clean and has some really cool bbq decor. Again, the food is amazing! We arrived here at lunch time. We had a great brisket sandwich, and then came back at dinner and had some sliced brisket and ribs. I really can't say enough about Old Southern BBQ. It's that good. We will be going through the area again in a couple of months and we will definitely be stopping here again
