Crunchy, sweet, cold, and perfectly made, I can't recommend the bananas foster enough. But everything else was great too. This was my big dinner as the groom since we were here for my bachelor party and it was fantastic. They sat us in a separate room, with beautiful pictures of some chickens. We ordered a bevy of things, such as smoked beef cheeks, triple fried duck fat fries, and for my entree, blackened redfish. The desserts were chocolate cake and of course the bananas foster beignets. The fries were really tasty, and the smoked beef cheeks had a really good flavor profile while being tender as can be. My fish was cooked perfectly, and I enjoyed eating it. Chocolate cake was solid but the beignets are the stars of the meal. I also got the "Yes Please" drink and I loved the taste of the fresh watermelon juice. AWFUL!!!! Wow, our dinner was awful. The salty sow used to be an amazing dining experience. Well, no more. Looking back, the nearly empty parking lot should have been the first clue. The almost empty restaurant should have been our second clue. Maddy the Lackluster was our waitress, I have to wonder if she was new. She was really focused on telling us about the specials which we had read about ourselves on a menu provided by them, and we were not interested in. I almost forgot the water we were served - it smelled. And not a pleasant smell. I couldn't drink it. We ordered our wagyu burgers and duck fat fries. Maddy asked if we wanted our burgers brown or pink. I said I wanted some pink but I didn't want my burger to still be mooing. Our food came. A huge disappointment. The fries were fried past the point of being enjoyable. The burgers were half the height of what they have been in the past (but still had the high price tag). And mine bled when I cut into it. It was essentially raw and not far removed from mooing. I sent it back and reminded lackluster Maddy I didn't want a mooing burger. My burger came back, yes the same one. So they put my burger back on the grill and overcooked it and sent it back. So the food was quite bad and I couldn't even wash it down with water When the lackluster Maddy came back with my burger she said they only cook the burgers two ways, well done or very rare. This is a place that cooks lots of meat. And I am supposed to believe I can only have an over cooked or raw burger. Why nothing in that middle range of doneness??? When lackluster Maddy told me this I told her she should have explained that when I ordered and I would have made a different choice. So the food was quite bad and I couldn't even wash it down with water. The manager avoided us. White she walked by a number of times and she never stopped and asked how our meal was. To sum it up, a really awful overpriced experience. Bad food, smelly water. And an uncaring staff. I won't be going back. I had been dying to try this place and I'm so glad I finally did. All you need to know is the deviled eggs. Obviously everything else is good, but if you don't get the deviled eggs then just don't go???? Like the deviled eggs rocked my world... I'm not even much of a deviled egg girl!! Yep! This place is a winner! From start to end, cocktails to dessert, we enjoyed every sip and every bite along the way and not only was the food great, but the service was, too! To drink, I enjoyed Rosemary's Piglet and the Bee's Knees. I like my cocktails light, refreshing and not too sweet and these both checked those boxes for me. For starters, we got the bacon and cheese tater tots (special) and truffle deviled eggs. While we enjoyed the tots, the deviled eggs stole the show - they were absolutely divine. If you like truffle, you'll love them! For our entree we got the candied pork belly which came with some amazing greens and we got the boudin-stuffed quail (special) with dirty rice. For sides we also got barbecue hominy and broccolini. The broccolini was served in what tasted while browned butter and oh my goodness it was so delicious. For dessert, we got the butterscotch budino (10/10), bananas foster beignets (1000/10), and pound cake (8/10). We had some friends make a reservation here. At first I was a bit nervous cuz the menu wasn't something I would normal move toward but once we started seeing the food I was definitely happy we came. The deviled eggs were incredible. They were running a promo for BOGO entrées (which is insanely awesome) so we got a Filet and their burger, both of which were incredible. We have been patrons of the Salty Sow for over 8 years. It was the bone marrow that kept us going back for so long. We went yesterday for their BOGO meal for February and because we had gift cards to use. We ordered the bone marrow not realizing they changed it completely. I wouldn't say it was good, the flavor was just ok. It was very vinegary, very different from when they had Gruyère cheese and bacon on top. All in all if we go back it will probably be for happy hour and the banana foster beignets. read more

Try a little of everything. We tried the pork belly, carnitas and catfish tacos. The catfish taco was perfect. Crunchy fillet, creamy coleslaw, delicious. Carnitas taco was solid. Not a fan of the fried egg on top of the pork belly taco. My preference is to let the pork belly shine on its own. The egg flavor detracts. Stuffed deviled eggs were excellent. Creamy filling that was super tasty. The honey crispy fried chicken was excellent. The honey butter really adds a nice compliment to the crunchy, spicy batter. The duck fat fries were a bit of a let down for me. The fries themselves are good but the sunny side egg on top didn't work for me. Just didn't like the mix of these two flavors. This was a cool spot with an outdoor seating area with a tent and some seating available indoors as well. The service was some of the best I have seen especially dealing with our large party. The food came out very quickly and the menu had a number of intriguing options along with a lengthy list of specials. For appetizers, the truffled deviled eggs ($8) and roasted bone marrow ($24) were ordered. The eggs came with bacon bits. This was solid. The bacon provided a nice touch and went well with the slight truffle flavor. The bone marrow was with a bacon and gruyere crust with toasted baguette. This was great. The marrow filing combined with the crust made for a unique taste. I thought it would be a little salty, but that was not the case at all especially when put on the baguette. For an entrée, I had the genuine blackened redfish ($31). It came with quinoa lentils, smoked tomato, and a chipotle lemon butter. The fish was cooked to perfection, but it was over seasoned as it was very salty. That was my only issue with this dish as the rest of dish was good especially the chipotle tabasco butter. It was a shame the fish was very over seasoned. I also tried the burnt ends special ($26). It came with green Chile grits, ancho BBQ sauce, pickled jalapenos, and red onion. This was particularly good. The short rib meat was tender while the sauce was a nice compliment. The grits were a nice touch too. I am not sure if this should be categorized as a meal as it seemed to be a better fit as a starter. I also had a side order of biscuits that were tremendous, flaky and a ton of buttery flavor. For dessert, I tried the butterscotch budino ($8), banana foster beignets ($12), and the chocolate chip brownie ($10). The budino had salted caramel, whipped cream, and almond biscotti. This was refreshing. The pudding had a nice texture, and the butterscotch was very noticeable. The beignets came with vanilla ice cream, sorghum syrup and local honey. The combination of the warm beignets and cold vanilla ice cream made for a great combination. I would have preferred the beignets have a little more banana flavor, but it was not too big of a deal. The chocolate chip brownie also came with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. I am not sure if the brownie came out warm, but by the time I tried, it was not. The good: cute place - had a great experience with customer service when scheduling the reservation. Our group tried all of the appetizers, sides, and salads, plus several drinks. The food was great. The pimento cheese bread, whipped ricotta, mashed potatoes, and deviled eggs were the standouts for me. The bad: service at the restaurant. Host was great. Our server was ok at first but things went downhill. He spilled an entire soda on someone at our table and didn't even apologize - just wiped off the table. Someone complained to a manager about it and she offered a wet rag to wipe the person's clothing down. Keep in mind it was very cold outside. After it was brought up again, the waiter came back and apologized to the other end of the table (not the person who was soaking wet). One person in our party was really unhappy with their drink, which seemed to either have been made with the wrong mixer or the mixer had gone flat (others were fine). We ordered bone marrow, wagyu cheeseburger, 2x pork shoulder, and banana fosters beignets. The bone marrow was really big and had lots of flavor to it but I think it was also very fatty than what I'm used to. The wagyu burger was tender and you could taste how much seasoning was in there. The pork shoulder was probably the best thing I had here. It was so tender and was very similar to pot roast. Carrots were soft and the mashed potatoes were delicious. The banana fosters was ok.
