Absolutely love this place! Be advised parking is very limited and shared with neighboring businesses. They have so many pastries to chose from that you will have to come back and try them all. I have been back atleast 3-5 times. I forgot to write my review and this place still sticks on my mind. Service is quick be aware you order your pastries first then when you get to the cashier you can order your drink. It is small inside so there are many people waiting for their drinks so just ask and you can buy your pastries very quickly. I had heard about Salted Butter Company from a friend who recommended it, but every time I tried to go, the line was INSANE, literally starting inside and wrapping around the building. So I finally got lucky this time and there were only about 3 people ahead of me. The line actually moves pretty quickly, too! This is definitely more of a grab-and-go type of spot. There's a bench inside, but most people are standing while they wait. They do have a free parking lot, although it can get pretty packed since it's shared with the other businesses nearby. Now for the important part , the pastries! I got the regular croissant and the cinnamon croissant roll, and both were excellent. And the chocolate chip cookies are an absolute MUST. Could not stop thinking about this bakery since we went last June! The line was outside the door during lunch time on a Friday, but it moved fast. Ambiance is pretty nice. About 90% of the parking spots are designated for the other establishments that are in that plaza so we just took the risk and parked in one. There's no outside parking either. No heads up on waiting for it to settle but you'll notice an element of stress among the employees so I can understand. The pizza croissant (naughty knot) was actually pretty good but messy as it falls apart since puff pastry isn't meant to support melted cheese and oily pepperoni for long so fold it! It gets pretty crowded inside and there are two benches you can sit on but I think so wall mounted tables might have been better. I'd tried Salted Butter before when a friend brought me an almond croissant and a chocolate chip cookie. Both left a lasting impression, so I was excited to finally visit in person while I was in the Pasadena area. When we arrived, there was a small line out the door which we waited about 15 minutes before ordering. A friend had mentioned that you can walk in directly to order drinks only, but we decided to wait and place our entire order at once. The line first moves through the pastry display before you order drinks and pay at the register. We ordered seven pastries and one coffee which came out to about $53 including tax. While none of the new items we tried were particularly memorable, everything was enjoyable. The almond croissant and chewy chocolate chip cookie remained my favorites and were easily the standout items of the visit. The Iced Good Vanilla Bean Coffee was also yummy - flavorful without being overly sweet. One downside was the flow of the space. Drink pickups happen directly in front of the entrance, so customers often have to cut through those waiting in line for pastries. The shop itself is quite small, with only two benches available for seating, making it feel crowded during busy periods. Parking was a bit confusing. For the record, there are very few things I will stand in line for and food is not one of them, especially in the heat or the rain. Every time I drive by Salted Butter there is a line - rain or shine. I finally got lucky! I passed by around 1:15 pm and there was no one outside so I pulled into the parking lot. A nice young man was taking pastry orders. If you want a beverage, you request it at the register when you pay. They use La Colombe coffee, which is like. The staff were all friendly and worked well together. I can imagine they must be tired at the end of the day. I heard the man tell someone that the Cinnamon Bun is their signature item, so I ordered it. It's different than a standard cinnamon bun because it is made from croissant dough and not a rich dough. The inner layers were light, flaky, & buttery. The cream cheese icing was thin and not overly sweet and the cinnamon filing wasn't overbearing. It had a good flavor & consistency and I like that it wasn't heavy. I also liked the crunchy ends and could taste the quality. Another great bakery in Pasadena, I'm so jealous. Prior to this one there is Artisanal Goods by Car Bakery & Badash Bakes. This one is more similar to Artisanal Goods by Car. Same line you got to wait in like Car, somewhat similar offerings and price point. I had a raspberry almond croissant, and Earl grey morning bun. Both hit the spot, I'd say both had that distinct taste you're looking for of your on the hunt for unique pastries like me. I also got a coffee, the salted maple coffee. Coffee wise it's good, but if you come to Pasadena for great coffee shops you might want to stick with that. I think I prefer the coffee at Car more. They have a small parking lot but there is also street parking down the street. It is a small take out spot. Once you get in they take your order at the display and then you move forward to pay at the register. I waited in line for about an hour and I would honestly do it again for the pizza croissant. I have had this bakery on my saved list for months and finally had the chance to go. I have gone either early in the morning or an off time like around 1:30ish. They still have a pretty good selection at those times.
