This is a cute salon with easy parking in a central part of Santee. I have been seeing Chelsea Warcholik for 10 years now. She has always given me what I ask for even when I am all over the place. As you can see from the photos I have done a very deep dark brown, every color or red and an light ash brown with blonde highlights. I go back and forth between wanting long hair or a short bob; bangs or sweeping bangs. I have shown her photos and even plopped down in her chair and said "I want a change but I don't know what- surprise me." (She just asked questions until we figured out what I wanted.) In addition to my every changing hair style I also have a problematic, sensitive scalp and she has been very helpful at giving me advice and keeping flare ups down. I've gotten my hair cut/dyed by both Jaklene and Courtney and both times were absolutely amazing. The first visit I needed a balyage over my previously box dyed hair in a certain time frame and they were so nice to accommodate my needs perfectly, and my hair came out absolutely amazing (and healthy looking/feeling!) The second time I got my hair dyed a darker colour, cut, and styled and it turned out just as well as my first visit. Plus Courtney recommended some amazing vegan shampoo/conditioner and after a solid month of using it my hair still feels and looks exactly the same as when I walked out of the salon. On top of both amazing visits, the people are super friendly and welcoming, it's a very open and relaxing environment, and they offer you (delicious) coffee and water for free. The worst salon I've ever been to. I initially went in to have my hair done ash blond with darker roots. Unfortunately I came out with brassy yellow hair. I don't understand how a stylist could be so off point. Then..... I wanted to get my hair and makeup done for my wedding. I was referred to Monica. My visit was a complete disaster. I went in with a bit of makeup on and she starts applying make up on top of the makeup I had on. I was like aren't you going to take my makeup off so we can start fresh. Nope! Then it really got bad her makeup skills are atrocious. I looked horrible. She lined my lips sho much that I looked like a clown then proceeded to do my hair. I wanted a bun. Well what I got was something that looked like I had a horn coming out of my head. Then.... She proceeds to charge me $180. What are you kidding me. I had to redo my entire makeup and hair myself. Idk but I'm feeling the stylists there are the bottom of the barrel. Nothing chic or classy about this salon or their stylists. read more

Not only is Danielle the best, the atmosphere of the salon is amazing and everyone is so friendly and welcoming! Super bummed to be downgrading my previous review. I thought I had a salon for life! I loved the girl I was seeing regularly for almost two years. Every time I'd come in I'd make my next appointment before leaving. That is exactly the kind of notice someone like me REQUIRES, because I am a full time working, single mom. I need my schedule set in stone ahead of time because I have a ton of other obligations on my plate as it relates to my children. When I have an appointment made, I schedule my entire week around it. I plan everything around obligations I have committed to, even something as minuscule as a hair appointment. The first three or so appointments went well. So, I'd consistently make my next appointment months out. After seeing her a few times, I started receiving texts, sometimes the day before, sometimes the morning of, and sometimes only a few hours before my appointment, asking me to come the next day. Or at the end of that week, or maybe the following week. Or she'd ask if it would be okay if she moved my appointment back several hours. The first time it happened, I didn't think much of it. Slightly inconvenient, but things happen and adjustments are sometimes out of our control. I am a very understanding person about things like that. But it happened again for my next appointment. And the next. And the next. And the next. It became a habit for her to just move and/or adjust my appointments, made MONTHS prior, and have no regard for my time or scheduling restrictions. It really is such a shame because I REALLY liked the stylist, and would have continued to come back to her forever. But she was a young woman, possibly not much experience in the professional world, or in how to run a successful business. Time for myself is extremely minimal raising two kids with no help. I can't continue to give my business to someone who makes and confirms an appointment for me two - three months out, and then repeatedly mismanages her time resulting in her having to move my appointment time. That tells me she doesn't have much respect for her customers' time. Hairstylists are a dime a dozen. Easily replaced. I hope she learns some consideration for her clients' time and corrects the unprofessional persona she's currently sinking herself with.(5/2/2019) Also - my profile is private so that I can give honest reviews without being bullied, harassed or made to feel like I can't be completely honest. That should also be taken as my not wanting to be contacted via phone/text either because you may not like my opinions. Lexi was awesome. She got me in for highlights and a cut within an hour of me calling - and did amazing work. The salon had some really rambunctious kids that didn't make for the most relaxing environment but she was super apologetic and the situation was honestly out of her control but the fact that she acknowledged it without dwelling on it definitely helped. She not only got my hair right (the way it lies, color issues, cut adjustment), she had that finesse of communication - engaging enough but not nosy, assessing how much I did or did not want to chat. OK, for transparency, my stylist is Christine Sale and she is my niece. However, she is a great stylist. Her color work is second to none; I guess it is her specialty. Her cuts are fast, neat and accurate. She always makes sure she is getting what you want and will ask questions and advise when applicable. She never lets you leave unless you are 100% happy with your look. She is personable and fun too- but mainly she gets the job done and beautifully. Highly recommend. read more

Not a fan. Staff was pretty entertaining and nice however the dye job and haircut I got were pretty average. I got full highlights, but no mention of the fact that I was going to get a bleach treatment before it was too late (I explained prior to my appointment my horrors with bleach and how I didn't want to do it again). Half of my hair doesn't have highlights which I didn't realize until several friends pointed it out to me. And I had several areas in the front that were blond instead of the brown color that was added. Haircut was meh. I asked for some layers but it was poorly blended so it's a bit choppy instead of gradual length. Don't think I will be coming back unfortunately. read more

I called to see about getting a full highlight and asked who was available because my previous stylist hadn't gotten back to me. My call was returned promptly and I had an appointment set with Courtney. On the day of my appointment I was told she had another client and asked if it was ok for Taylor to do my hair. I was nervous at first, (I'm always nervous when I go to a new stylist), but Taylor was amazing. She was so sweet, personable, and listened to me when I explained how I wanted my hair to look. She took her time and made sure to do an amazing job. Taylor used great products that left my hair feeling soft and healthy. I was very pleased with the highlights, cut and how she styled it. I gave Salon Thrive a call Saturday afternoon looking to get a lost ombré (went to retouch and the red ends got lost in the dark color) fixed. I first called looking for another stylist someone recommended who no longer works there. Instead of throwing in the towel for this salon all together, I asked what it would cost since I was calling salons to get rates anyways. Since it's always hard to tell how someone's hair is, I got a basic price and scheduled a consultation+ possible service on Monday. But having been in the area, I popped in just shortly before they closed. Monica was happy to do a consult with me right then and there (woman I spoke with on the phone prior to coming in) and was given a lower price due to the little amount that needed to be fixed. The ends were probably about a level 3, Monica did a double-process, getting the dark color lifted to a lighter color (which actually looked super pretty) and deposited the red color I was wanting for a more buffed, finished, richer and vibrant color. I will definitely be coming back to get my hair touched up for two reasons, 1) Monica did a wonderful job; 2) the line she used was Pravana and I'm a total sucker for it!! read more
