Today Tam saved my life. I did something you're never supposed to do which is get a haircut from a friend who doesn't cut hair.. I had gotten a haircut from this friend who accidentally cut way to much off on Sunday and left a request for 911 help on the website. I am forever grateful for them. They reached out by 8 am the next day and was able to get me in. Tam was amazing, not only did she get me in, she completely fixed the haircut and helped me feel like I could look at myself in the mirror again. She also didn't make me feel any sort of way about letting a friend cut my hair either and didn't say anything snide or cross about the job my friend did, which made me feel so comfortable and less anxious about the process as a whole. While cutting, she explained EVERYTHING she was doing which she obviously didn't have to do but really helped me feel more grounded while I was processing going from mid back length hair to shoulder length with very short layers in the back. I haven't been in a salon in several years and I now look forward to the next time I need a style done so I can come back. This was my first time in this business also and I have to say that I absolutely LOVED all the plants and little details of beautiful things around. I had an initial consultation with Mike on 12/4 about color correction. He was clear that he would not know how long it would take him nor did he know how much he would charge me until he got into doing it. What I surely did not anticipate was a bill for 745.00, including a 100.00 deposit up front and spending 6 hours there last night. Unbelievable! I should have walked out! Such a terrible experience - had been going to Angelica for about six months. I decided to do a massive change - silver to my hair. Half way through, she said it was going to be $300 - usually what I pay for a color and a cut. After spending hours on it, she said she didn't have time to cut. I was her last client of the day. I saw it and panicked, she said it would be okay (and I assumed it would somehow turn silver). My hair cut before that hadn't been great and my mom didn't like her's either. At that point I was being walked out the door and my hair was already very dry and brittle. She sold me pricey blonde conditioner and shampoo - that did not do a thing. My hair is trashed and not even a color I care for. It took four colors for something to hide this white/yellow hair. A nightmare. She'd stripped my hair of color and made it white - I looked like a qtip. she said, if it starts turning yellow. I called her because it was turning yellow. she said to come in. She should have said, come in and I'll take care of it - free of charge. That's not what happened. After blowing my hair budget for the month. I tried coloring it strawberry blonde - and both times the color just washed through. All the red base colors did that. I had to color it a dark brown. When my mom saw what she'd done - what did she do to you?! I called Angelica and told her my mom wanted to cancel her future appointment - (my mom had told me with a few expletives to cancel her &@€%! My mom is 82).
