My hair had become brassy and I just wanted to add low lights and some dimension. I showed many, many photos to make it clear what I wanted. Unfortunately, the final result was drastically different from what I requested. Much of the interior and underside of my hair was colored a very dark brunette tone, creating a flat, heavy appearance rather than the dimensional look shown in the photos we reviewed. The ends of my hair look completely black, nothing like the photos I showed. The issue wasn't that my hair became darker overall. I expected more depth and lowlights. The issue was that much of the brightness and dimension was lost, particularly underneath, leaving large sections of the hair looking like one solid dark color. To Cynthia's credit, she did offer to adjust the color by adding highlights and ultimately provided a full refund when I explained that I was no longer comfortable proceeding with additional processing since my first request was so misunderstood and poorly executed. While I appreciate her efforts to make things right afterward, the final result did not reflect the look we spent significant time discussing beforehand. I'm honestly still devastated.

FABULOUS COLORIST AND STYLIST - JENNIFER TREVINO I have been a client of Jennifer Trevino's for over 10 years. During that time, I have referred numerous family members to her, and they too have become long-term clients. I first went to Jennifer when she worked at a salon convenient to my home and work, and followed her out to a different salon in La Mesa and then to Salon Radiance 2, even though it is a much longer drive. She is worth it! I would follow her anywhere and know other clients would do the same. I can say this with confidence because Jennifer once had a client fly her to Hawaii multiple times, just to color and style her hair! Before going to Jennifer, I could never find a colorist who was skilled in working with naturally dark hair. Without fail, the color would turn out way too dark and flat looking, with no dimension or variance in the color. Jennifer has just the right touch in using color and highlights to meet my particular needs. She makes adjustments throughout the seasons to ensure the color always looks modern and fresh. I get compliments on my hair color all the time - over the years I have had other hairstylists come up to me numerous times with compliments and questions about who does my hair. My hair is also challenging to cut and control - super thick, wavy and wiry. Having Jennifer flat iron my hair on a regular basis has made a huge difference. It really has changed my life given the time I save in dealing with what was once extremely unruly hair. Jennifer is an expert at flat ironing. She does the job quickly, skillfully, and adjusts products she uses to address any weather conditions that might be problematic (e.g., rain, humidity) to make sure the service lasts as long as possible. A poor haircut cannot hide when hair is flat ironed. This is not a problem for me, as the preciseness of Jennifer's cutting skills shines through. Jennifer goes out of her way to make herself available according to her clients' schedules. She will work early, late, weekends (Sunday and Monday) and/or holidays if a client needs her. She is in such popular demand that she often begins work as early as 6 or 7 a.m. and will work as late as 9 or 10 p.m. She serves a diverse clientele (women, men, kids, all ages and hair types). Jennifer Trevino's respectfulness, strong work ethic, conscientiousness, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal communication skills make her an outstanding professional and person. I highly recommend her. read more

I love this place and Janan (the owner)! I was new to San Diego and Janan was recommended to me by the cousin of a friend of mine. Even though she spoke very highly of Janan I assumed I probably would not find my new stylist on the first shot. I was totally wrong! Janan cut and styled my hair beautifully. My hair is very thin and I've learned over the years that someone not experienced with thin hair can make it appear very limp and bodiless with the wrong cut. Not here as my cuts from Janan show so much body and fullness in my hair. Also, I have had various colors applied to my hair from medium blond highlights to dark brown and auburn all over colors with Janan. Whether foil highlights or all over color they turned out great. It is a lot of fun to play around with color, but especially great when you can actually do it because you feel confident with the stylist to make the color look so natural. Janan has made my hair color changes look so natural every single time. I have been going to her for over two years and am so glad to have found this place. The salon is adorable and chill with a very friendly staff. Over the two years I've been going to the salon the other stylists working there have been consistent and always with very happy clients too. I think that consistency says a lot about the salon. The salon is located one block from Main street in La Mesa so it is very easy to find, has easy parking and in a very cute area of town! I cannot say enough about what a GREAT place this is. read more

How do I say this politely? This was the worst experience I've ever had at a salon. I came in as a walk-in for a simple haircut & style and left with a chopped, uneven, and almost un-fixable whack-job. Angie's "supposed" styling expertise cost me over 4 inches in length!! Not to mention having to pay twice to have someone fix it, for something that should've been done right the first time. I honestly don't even think she knew what she was doing. It seemed more like she was "PRETENDING" to be a stylist rather than actually working as an educated cosmetologist. I don't like writing reviews like this, but I'm doubting that the management properly critiqued and evaluated the staff here. Hopefully I can save someone else from having their hair completely CHOPPED. I'm not sure about the other stylists, but this one sure gives the salon a bad rap. I could have gotten a better hair cut from my 2 year old niece than what I got from the woman who did my hair. Not to mention that I was over-charged for the "whack job" that I got. Being the shy person that I am, I didn't say anything. Besides at that point I just wanted to get the hell out of there!! I SURELY won't be back. Word of advice to the owner of this salon, evaluate your staff before hiring!! read more

Laura Aceto is a insanely talented hairstylist! By far the BEST I've ever had! I always used to joke that if Laura every moved away, I would follow her. Well, unfortunately I'm not in the position to up and move to California, but I am missing her in Connecticut! Laura started cutting my hair 8 years ago and has given me one fabulous cut after another. We've been through bangs, bobs, curls...you name it. She's cut off my long pony tail three times and watched me grow out and then cut bangs more times than I can remember. Everytime I came to her with a new idea, it was like she read my mind. I have NEVER been disappointed. People always ask me who cuts my hair. In fact, one time I was in a dressing room at a Banana Republic when there was a knock at the door. When I opened it, two girls who worked in the store said, "We hate to bother you, but where did you get that hair cut!!?!?!" I've referred multiple friends (and strangers) to Laura and wish I could keep doing it. People of La Mesa...go see Laura and let her make you feel like a celebrity with a GREAT hairstyle. read more

I am a working actor and my style and hair are a huge part of my career. I found Megan though a recommendation from a friend but I left with a renewed sense of confidence. Megan is one of the best stylists I've worked with. I have to have a stylist who can work with me and help me figure out my look for my next role. In example, the last roll I portrayed was a rookie Police Officer, so i basically came in and asked Megan to give me "cop hair" mixed with the Military and the lastest GQ fashion and she did wonderfully. She left me looking better than I had imagined she worked with my tastes but chimed in with her experience creating a solid look for my roll. When i was on set that weekend everyone was asking me who did my hair and lucky for Megan I had a couple of her cards with me. If you're looking for a gorgeous girl to perfect the look you've been trying to get, Megan at Salon Radiance 2 is the right stylist for you. I have been going to see Kendra Kaparic for nearly 10 years now. She fixed my hair for me when I dyed it myself and it came out GRAY. She made it beautifully blond again. I'm a bit of a picky person, and very paranoid about my hair, and Kendra has always done a most wonderful job - be it highlights, low lights, light hair, dark hair. She most definitely deserved the 2010 award, and has always and continues to do a wonderfully beautiful job on my hair. I've recommended numerous people to her and every single one has been beyond satisfied and will remain customers for life. Kendra's my hair hero!! I find it highly disgusting that someone would post something so nasty about someone so talented and friendly. Kendra strives to do exactly what her client wants, no matter how tricky or difficult it may be. She's not some new kid to this job, obviously, since I've been seeing her for ten years. Going to a new hair stylist is like going on a blind date, you never know how it is going to turn out in the end. Thankfully, I had a phenomenal experience with Nicole Ammon at Salon Radiance 2! I wanted to change up my hairstyle for the fall/winter season, but wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I talked to Nicole about several potential hair cuts and/or colors I had in mind. I wanted a change, but at the same time did not want something too drastic or crazy where I would walk out not feeling like myself. In the end, I basically left the final decision of what would look best all in her hands. She ended up giving me the best haircut and color that I have ever had! She cut subtle layers which made me feel like I had a completely new style without losing the length. I am in absolute love with my updated color also! I can not say enough good things about Nicole! She was professional, but also so much fun! I am her newest loyal customer and have no shame in saying so. read more

I went to have my hair color done and I was completely happy the stylist was so knowledgeable in helping me choose a style and color. My hair color has looked washed out for so long and I thought I wanted highlights, but my stylist said she thought low lights would be better and she was right. Color came out rich and soft and shiny. If you need your hair done I would recommend Angie Usher at Salon Radiance2. She was friendly, funny ( this girl could do stand -up comedy)and I truly enjoyed my hair appt. which I usually dread. I must also touch on the cut. I love the shag and haven't been able to find a stylist that can get that edgy, wispy, sort of ragged cut that I like. Angie cut it perfectly I don't really have to do anything to it just wash and wear. She was AH-MAZ-ING. RODDIE Rodriguez is my AMAZING hair stylist. I think she is so SPECIAL that I followed her to Salon Radiance 2 from two prior salons! She does wonders with my super-straight, very uncooperative hair. Roddie has tons of experience and is an expert in hair styling, color, cuts and perms, all of which she has done for me for almost ten consecutive years. My daughter, who also has very difficult hair, has been going to Roddie for even longer. We both think Roddie is GREAT and so much fun to chat with, while she works her miracles on our hair. Even though the salon is relatively new, the owner just replaced all the flooring, shampoo chairs, etc. SR2 is clean, attractive and humming with lots of clients. Tried twice to set an appointment with this place. Both times I was told they weren't sure but that they would certainly call me right back. Neither time were they successful in doing so. Both times I waited over twenty minutes and would then call them back just to experience the run around once again. I was very understanding the first time and not so much the second time. The salon is nice but I would follow Dara wherever she went(Except Detroit) I have been going to her for about 18 years and my hair has looked great all these years. I always have people ask me who does my hair and even have ex-stylist friends who say what a great hair coloring job she does. I have recommended her to friends and also my very picky 17 year old daughter who will now only go to Dara because she has been the only hair stylist who has listened and understands what she wants. Don't come here for a blow out, maybe for other services but not a blow out . I knew I was in the…read morewrong place when she didn't section off my hair and leave the brushes inside. And she never asked me what kind of blow out I wanted. My blow outs take around 90 minutes and I was in there within less than an hour. There's a place that specializes in blow outs in the same plaza, I'm beating myself up for not going there instead. It just looks like I got my hair straightened !!!! Like why would I pay $70 just to get my hair straightened. She asked to use the flat iron and I said yes because I could tell the way she rounded my hair with the brush wasn't going to hold . In the end, when I seen it looked like all I did was get my hair straightened, I asked her to flip my ends, she didn't even know what I meant by that, I thought that's what she was doing when she was going over my hair with the flat iron. I was so over it at that point. There's a section of my hair that's still damped. This is supposed to be for my birthday . I am so pissed. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I'm honestly a lil offended like do I look like I don't know how to wash my hair and straighten it myself ? Why would I make an appointment for that?

Hair By Danielle Women's Luxury Haircut with Partial…read moreHighlights, Blow Dry & Style I really thinkinng not saying nothing about it but I don't like other people having the same experience anymore. Horrible experience. I spent the last year in and out of hospitals due to spine surgeries, and Groupon reactivated my voucher for this salon. Once there, the stylist, Danielle, forced me to pay an extra $80 out of pocket. I specifically requested a straight, above-the-shoulder haircut and showed her a photo. Danielle completely ignored my request and left my hair long, with a bad V-shape (pointed) in the back, below my shoulders. She intentionally left it poorly done and longer just to justify overcharging me the extra $80. To make things worse, she left the bleach on my head for an extra 20 minutes because she left to talk to a friend (can see in the cameras) . My hair turned bright orange/carrot color and is severely damaged. It has been a week and my scalp is still burning due to chemical burns from her negligence. Do not go to this place or see Danielle. It is a scam and a health hazard. I was so sad and honestly I not liked saying anything in the moment, I was in shock, the salon was full and I use walker...I just got home and trying to healing my hair scalp with my primary doctor.

First and last salon to try in La Mesa…read more We moved to LM last year, and I was loathe to give up my previous stylist, as I had been going to him for years. And we all know that a great stylist is [nearly] irreplaceable. But the extra drive and his very limited availability lead me to find a local spot. I'm all for supporting local as much as possible (I do this with my money, not just my words), but a stylist? So many things can go wrong! But. I found Amanda through Yelp, and am so glad I did. Easy to schedule with? Check. Fun to talk to? Check. Responsible business owner? Check. Successful Mom? Check. Amiable co-workers? Check. Comfortable salon? Check. Reasonable prices? Check. And.....quality work? Check! I consistently get comments on my hair cut, and I very much enjoy going to get it done (unusual for me). She takes the time to explain how to style your hair if you wish, and always sends a text (if you wish) to let you know if her previous client ran late, or early, or any other pertinent updates to make your day run smoother.
