Amanda is an extremely talented hair dresser. She did my highlights for my wedding and they turned out amazing. I have extremely difficult & thin hair and it is very rare for me to find someone that can do them right. She also did my hair for my wedding day. She was a total rock star. The first thing people notice in my pictures is my hair and they say how amazing it is. She made me look like a model, people have described it as stunning. She worked her magic that day for sure! I had a couple bridesmaids and my mom get their hair done as well. She was extremely professional and kept everyone on time. My wedding party looked amazing!!! She chopped my hair off for me after the wedding and gave me an awesome short cut & took the time to teach me how to do it, since I am very hair impaired. :) She has a client for life!! read more

So glad to have found Amanda! She is an awesome stylist. First of all, she is really welcoming and easy to communicate with. This is so important when you're paying someone to work on your precious hair, you know? She gets what "service" is about. She does her best to understand and serve whoever is sitting in her chair and make them feel comfy. And as far as skills go, Amanda's got it. She's a pro and her years of experience and talent are obvious. I luv how she is so detail oriented and wants to make sure every part of her work is just right! If something like the cut or color or whatever doesn't look as desired, she'll keep workin it till it's "right!" I've learned she's really not happy, if her customer isn't happy. Ok and I have to say that I luv the color product Amanda uses! It covers the roots really well, somehow seems to last longer before the roots begin to show (for real, don't ask me how, it's weird) AND it isn't harsh on my scalp! I don't leave her salon with my scalp itching and burning (as I have for so many years at various salons). Never thought this was possible. So, if I could give Amanda more than 5 stars, I would. Contacted 3 salons all at the same time & Amanda called me back the same day! Called me; didn't just reply to my email. To me that's huge! The others I heard from the following days, via email. :/ Amanda was very friendly, restored my beautiful curls and didn't take 2 hours to do it. :) She didn't having me waiting on her to get there, finish another client, etc. issues I've had at other high end salons. First and last salon to try in La Mesa. We moved to LM last year, and I was loathe to give up my previous stylist, as I had been going to him for years. And we all know that a great stylist is [nearly] irreplaceable. But the extra drive and his very limited availability lead me to find a local spot. I'm all for supporting local as much as possible (I do this with my money, not just my words), but a stylist? So many things can go wrong! But. I found Amanda through Yelp, and am so glad I did. Easy to schedule with? Check. Fun to talk to? Check. Responsible business owner? Check. Successful Mom? Check. Amiable co-workers? Check. Comfortable salon? Check. Reasonable prices? Check. And.....quality work? Check! I consistently get comments on my hair cut, and I very much enjoy going to get it done (unusual for me). She takes the time to explain how to style your hair if you wish, and always sends a text (if you wish) to let you know if her previous client ran late, or early, or any other pertinent updates to make your day run smoother. I had the same hairstylist from age 5 to age 25. Let's just say I don't like change. Then I went through a string of them before coming to Amanda over a year ago now. She has changed my life. Your hair stylist does not just do your hair. They become your friend, you can laugh with them, cry with them, they are someone you trust. I went through many health changes and I've lost my hair 3x in my short life, so my hair is something I cherish, something that has been through a lot. Amanda is the only person who has cut my hair the way I've wanted it, she has dealt with the recent hair loss and trauma to hair. Amanda was terrific! I have very curly hair so I am used to having bad experiences with hair dressers but Amanda was great overall! I had a really bad experience with my first Brazilian blow out with another stylist and so I was hesitant to do it again. She was awesome and even followed up with me to make sure that I was happy with the final product. She also fixed a terrible hair cut that I had gotten two months prior.
