I have been seeing Jennifer to have my hair cut and colored for over 15 years and she also did my husband's until he passed away last year. We followed Jennifer every place she went until she ended up at Mint as the owner and a stylist. As a colorist she is amazing and I often get comments about how beautiful my hair is. As a stylist she really studies your hair so that the cut you get looks good before you lay a hand on it. She makes you feel right at home in her cozy corner so if you are looking for a great hair dresser you will love Jennifer. read more

Nikki did my hair for the first time today and I absolutely loved it. She was very friendly and made me feel like I was in good hands. I will definitely recommend her to my friends and family. read more

I've been seeing my stylist now for about 8 years. I ran into a bit of trouble with a different salon and needed major help! Being new to the area, I made an appointment with the first available stylist at a salon around the corner and I'll never look back! From day one Jaime Smith has never judged me on my crazy choices or the way I change my hair almost as often as my clothes! She is honest in what she thinks will look flattering on me and is never hurt if I ask for something to be done differently. She is always ready to go when I get there with the color mixed and all! Best part is, there's no surprises! She always tells the the price ahead of time and her work is consistent and flawless! I'd follow this chick anywhere! The salon is fantastic! Love the vibes and design! Street parking always available right out front! Easy to access just off the freeway. I'm loving this place! read more

Would absolutely not recommend this hair salon, specifically with Jaime. I sent her a picture of my hair and 4-5 pictures of the gray ombre I hoped to achieve days before the appointment. She agreed and said she could do it, but the result looked nothing like what I had asked for--instead of any sort of ombre Jaime gave me blonde highlights instead. After just 2 washes in cold water with shampoo purchased from the salon the slight gray coloring faded and I was left with blonde highlights that looked nothing like what we had agreed upon. Jaime recognized immediately that the hair did not end up as intended; she eventually agreed to a partial refund ($75 of 200). However, she never refunded me and ghosted me instead. I am very disappointed with her lack of communication and professionalism and have attached photos as evidence of the whole situation. read more

Mint Hair Bar - Great hair! - Makeup Artists Near Me - La Mesa, California

Amber has been cutting and coloring my hair for a little over 2 years now, and thanks to her, my hair is seriously the healthiest it has ever looked. Before I started seeing Amber, my hair was a hot mess. It was thinning, looked brittle, and no matter what I did, I could not get it to grow longer than my shoulders. I actually thought that my hair just wouldn't be able to grow longer anymore, and I just had to accept it. Since I've started seeing Amber, my hair is honestly getting a 2nd shot at life. My hair is thicker, fuller and longer than it's been in years--it's halfway down my back and still growing. My friends and family have even noticed the difference. I'm obsessed with the coloring she does on my hair. It's hard to find a hairdresser who is strong in both cutting and coloring. My experience has always been one or the other. But Amber is a rock star with both. She has the magic touch that my hair loves and I will never let anyone else come between her and my hair ever again. read more

Jaime Smith has done my hair for years. After I had Chemo treatments she was so careful in the color products she used on my scalp. She Kept asking me if my scalped felt alright. She such a caring and soft spoken hairdresser. She is very professional in every way. I've had ladies stop me several times to asked who did my hair. When I lived in SD. I was thrilled to be able to send them to Jaime. I've sent her so many ladies and they Loved Her! I can't wait for her to do my hair in a few days. I live out of town now but it's worth the 4 hour trip one way. I love the salon decor too! Mint Hair Bar is beautiful and very clean. The other stylist are very friendly as well. read more

I came here with my girlfriend for her haircut/hair coloring, she had I think Jamie and it was a terrible experience. The coloring turned out nothing like what she asked for(including pictures that she showed and Jamie agreed to). The haircut was okay, nothing special but very pricey. The coloring was very expensive and turned out completely different from what she asked for, I highly recommend NOT coming here and trying somewhere else instead. read more

I've been going to Jaime maybe for about 8 years now. And she does an amazing job with my hair. Every person that I've gone to has just been a disappointment. And no one else touches my hair only her. She is honest and straightforward and that's important in a stylist, she wants you to look good and knows what works best for your face shape and color. Despite moving to Virginia when I come to SD I make sure to schedule an appointment for a hair trim with her. read more

Nicky is THE best! I have been going to her for a few years now. I have wild child crazy curly hair and she gets everything and anything done like a champ! From color, to cuts, to straightening...she has done wonders for me. Very sweet and attentive to your needs. Highly recommend! *** With that said, this place in general is awesome, all the ladies have been really nice and welcoming. Love the atmosphere and decor of this place :) read more

Definitely recommend this place and even Jaime! She did an amazing job on my balayage. For my first step this turned out to be better than I expected! So happy and can't wait for my next appointment! read more

Nicky is AMAZING!!! She knows how I want my hair even better than I do. I like different colors, and she blends just the right shades so that they don't clash. If she feels that something I've asked for won't look good, she will suggest something different - and she has never steered me wrong. My cut is always just perfect. I always walk a little taller, receive a lot more compliments, and strut a bit more when I leave Nicky. read more

What a joke this place is! Called three times and left a detailed message as instructed. Yep, three different days over a four day period. No call back. I guess these clowns think they are just too wonderful to call people back. So, no I never even got an appointment made. What a bunch of losers!!!! Oh and by the way, they took my review off of their page. So don't believe the reviews on their page; they obviously edit them. read more

Jaime is the best! She always makes my hair vibrant and fresh. She listens to what I want, but she's a pro, so I'd rather have what she thinks is best! (She's also super funny:)) The salon is neat, stylish, and has good vibes. Centrally located with plenty of street parking. read more

Jaime Lake is AMAZINGGGGGGG!! I have been going to her for the past year and a half, and absolutely love the way she cuts and colors! I've tried many different hair dressers in the past, and by far she is the BEST!! I have referred my friends and my mom who have also referred people they know! She is very patient, and has a extensive amount of hair knowledge! She is also super sweet and fun...if I could get my hair done weekly, I would do it just to see her!! The boutique is also very cute! Has great energy and is always very clean. Definitely would recommend anyone that is looking for a new salon and new hair dresser, to go see Jaime at the Mint Hair Bar! :) read more

Nikki is my girl! After 9 months of coming I am so happy and never looking back again. I came in with dry, brittle, nasty, damaged hair. I stick to seeing her about every 6-8 weeks and wow have I noticed a difference. She knows how to cut hair. My hair has never been this healthy. It's so smooth and silky and I no longer have out of control split ends. Of course my hair needs an occasional trim and right about the time my appointment is coming up my hair/body lets me know. So it's perfect. I am know learning and relying on my body. Another great quality of Nikki is she is flexible and understanding. I love the fact that she doesn't push and force treatments and fluff it. She is raw and honest. Last month I wanted a Brazilian blow out but was taking a summer swim class she recommended me to wait. She values her clients and really gets to know you. I can't wait to go next week and try my Brazilian blow out. I will review that next! read more

When you find someone who knows hair, does it extremely well, and makes you feel like a million bucks then Jaime Smith is your girl! Jaime was referred to me several years ago by a mutual friend and since then I have stuck to her like glue. My whole family and group of friends go to her as well. We turn to her for special events (parties, weddings, etc.) because we know we can count on her to make us feel glamorous. (Yes- she does make up too!!- She is the absolute complete package) Do yourself a favor, see Jaime...you won't regret it. The Mint Bar is also a very warm hearted hair boutique. The decor is absolutely adorable. Parking is easy, location is easy, and Wi-Fi. Truly a top of the line location. read more

Jaime has done my a hair and make up for a few different events. I have used her for a couple weddings and a fashion show. She is professional and friendly. I would definitely recommend her for hair and make up. She was very honest with me about whether or not a certain style would work with my hair. She didn't just tell me she could make it happen and then have my hair turn out less than amazing. She offered a couple different options based on my hair type. I have loved everything she has done with my hair and my makeup. read more
