The first time, the machine was clearly broken, yet they were still using it. It looked like someone took a bucket full of paint and threw it all over my body, and the water sprinkling down my body made it even worse. Two years later, I went back and specifically told the employee, Marteena, about my previous horrible experience. I even told her that it happened in the last room. Despite knowing exactly what happened, she still took me into that same room and used the same machine. This time, I ended up with an extremely uneven tan my feet were tanned, some areas were tanned while other spots weren't, and the overall result looked terrible. I gave this place a second chance after they ruined my tan before my wedding, and they somehow managed to disappoint me again. I will never return and would not recommend this place to anyone, especially before an important event.

I was truely impressed by the attentiveness and skill level of this salon. Everyone was extremely welcoming from the moment I walked through the door. I was greeted by a wonderful" Hello", "How can we help you" and "Can we get you something to drink." I was instantly impressed. Usually when you walk into a salon you are lucky to be acknowledged by some highschool aged receptionist who would rather be anywhere else. I was then greeted by my stylist who was professional and well put together. She made eye contact and introduced herself. I was brought to her area for an in depth consultation. She listened to my wants and needs and also made some suggestions. We agreed on a game plan and headed over to get me shampooed. WOW!!! What a killer scalp massage with AMAZING smelling products. I was so relaxed and at ease by this point. We went back to her station and she began cutting. She was confident and assertive during the whole cut, She continued to ask questions which made me very happy. I felt like she actually wanted me to like my hair. After the cut she gave me the BEST blow dry style I've ever had. (It lasted for 3 days after my appointment.) Not only did she spin me around and show me the back but she stood me up and double checked the length while I was standing. I am sooooo happy I went to Reflections. It was overall the best salon experience I have ever had. I would recommend this place to my own mother. That says a lot. Got my hair done by Deserae, and I absolutely love it!! She did an amazing job with my super curly hair. I showed her a (crappy cell phone) picture of what I kinda wanted, and we talked about the options. I have been coloring my own hair black for years now, and it was time for a change, but I knew it may be difficult. She gave me her opinions and explained everything to me, so I knew what was involved in getting the color that I wanted. Turned out amazing. Deserae also does lash extensions and brazillian blowouts (which may be on the table for next time I visit lol). I love the Salon itself too. Its a very nice Salon, but not stuffy or snobby at all. (I didnt feel like I shouldnt be allowed in there, because I wear converse and jeans, and not heels and dresses lol). Very relaxed and comfortable, but still beautifully put together. Feminine, but not scarily so. Men are comfortable there too lol (a guy came in for a cut while Deserae was working on me). I have definitely found "my" Salon. Couldnt be happier :) read more

Aside from the fact that the salon owner is Amazing, I had the best experience with Vikki Slade! I have been to a lot of hairstylists over the years and I knew that going lighter or blonde was going to be a process from black. There are a lot of people out there who don't want to do it. I was kind of just getting up and going to let it grow out, but still really wanted my hair done! Vikki Slades confidence and how she responded when i told her my hair goals made me so happy and hopeful again! You can tell shes very experienced! She is amazing with communication through the process, and very easy to talk to. Super caring and understanding this woman loves her work! She recently moved to Yuma, Arizona, but still commute back-and-forth to San diego to keep serving her clinets! That is dedication! I called and left a message on Monday when they were closed and I was contacted when the shop opened early Tuesday morning. I explained that I was only in town today, was leaving on a cruise next week, had been driving cross country in an RV since Christmas, and desperately needed my roots touched up and highlights done, and a serious mani/ pedi. My feet were deep in the throes of winter crud. And they fit me in. Dana did my hair, touching up with color my home stylist had sent, and added wonderful highlights. It looks great! Then Margie gel nails on my hands, which hopefully will last til we get back, and did an awesome job of finding my feet under all that dry crud. The staff was fun to talk to and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely go back if I lived near Lakeside. In fact I just might when we get back to the States in March. read more

Reflections is a super cute salon and day spa located in the the historical area of Lakeside. Veyra cut and colored my hair and it turned out amazing! I had lots of terrible dead ends and she helped me choose a two great colors for my hair( chocolate brown and red). The salon is super clean and well decorated( lots of beautiful purples). Everyone there was super friendly and very accommodating! Veyra was very flexible, even when I showed up to my appointment 15 minutes late! She took her time to cut, color and style my hair without rushing! I also met Margi that day, the owner of the salon, who also cuts hair and is a nail tech! She was extremely friendly and welcoming! Star Metoyer made room in her day for me; and not only listened to what I asked for, but spent a LONG time on my hair! Reflections provides small town feel with big town service! I'm a country girl and I can't stand going to snooty salons. I get upscale service at Reflections without the big city feel. I see Chandra for eyelash and eyebrow tints. She's very attentive and a perfectionist with her work. I also had a Pumpkin Peel over the winter. Loved it. It is a hurdle/challenge to just get an appointment. I am sure these people are nice and are probably good at what they do.
