Wow. I'm so happy. I haven't gotten my hair cut in 2-3 years and Claire did amazing! She did exactly what I asked for even though I gave her two different type of ways I wanted my hair. Called months ago to request an appointment and I was told someone would call me back, which never happened. I chalked it up to them getting really busy so I found someone else to do my hair and moved on. Called a few days ago because I really wanted to give this another shot since they're SO close to my house and have mostly good reviews. Well, same song and dance. My absolute favorite place to go for my hair! I was looking at hair salons in my area when I stumbled on this salon so I decided to try them out. I was nervous because my last experience with a hair salon in El Cajon left me nervous after leaving with horrible hair and far from what I wanted plus the management handled it very poorly and didn't care how unsatisfied I was. Anyways back to this amazing place. The first time I had my hair done was with Coley and the second time with recently with Lainey! I had stereotypical COVID-19 hair, overgrown and discolored, and I decided to contact Jenna at Salon Thrive based on the fantastic Yelp reviews and specifically from a client whose hair resembled mine. After my appointment with Jenna, I have found my new Santee salon and stylist!! I was thrilled by the job Jenna did. I got a cut and color; I also asked for a different color than I'm used to getting (lighter brown instead of dark brown). Jenna totally understood what I was going for and talked to me all about the process she was going to do. After she rinsed out the color and started blow-drying, she could tell that the front was too light, asked my opinion, then without any hesitation corrected the color in a specific section all over again. She was determined to achieve the color and look I had in my mind. Her demeanor is friendly, understanding, and very customer-oriented. I have super thin straight hair so she did a dry cut which is fine but she did not take her time at all. My dad, sister, and I have been going to Danielle for the past few years for cuts and occasional highlights. Each visit has been great up until my last, I went to Danielle to get my hair done for my 21st birthday. I asked for an ashy blonde balayage and showed her the inspiration pictures I've been looking at for months to show her exactly what I wanted. She said she could do it and started to put my hair in foils. Just 2 hours later my hair was done, I looked at it in the mirror couldn't see how brassy it was in the salon lighting and although it wasn't quite what I wanted I thought it was okay and left the salon. When I got home to show my family my hair they were all horrified and said "What happened!? That's not at all what you asked for!" Then I looked in the mirror and was instantly shocked, it looked like I had gotten my entire head dyed yellow besides the 1 inch of dark brown roots not blended at all (Pictures attached). I messaged salons asking how much it would cost to fix my hair. The next morning I had 10 different hair stylists message me back, all of them said they can't believe she let me walk out of the salon with my hair looking how it did and that I should ask for a refund and see what the salon can do. So that's exactly what I did, I texted Danielle saying how sorry I was that I had to do this but I'm really not happy with how my hair turned out and I would like a refund. One minute later she calls me and immediately is very defensive and tells me I'm not getting a refund and she did my hair exactly how I asked for it. Later in the conversation she said "If I did what you wanted, it would've taken more time, more product, and cost more money," however I never said my appointment had to be done at a certain time and neither did she. She was very hostile towards me and said "I didn't fu*k up your hair." After this upsetting phone call, I drove to the salon to speak with a manager. I spoke to Katie about my problem, she agreed my hair needed to be fixed. Her recommendation was to have a stylist that works under her to fix my hair (at full cost). I asked if I could get a refund but she said all the chairs are rented out privately so no. I am truly appalled with the lack of care for a customers hair wishes and then being so disrespected when bringing up concerns. After my family has been such loyal customers to this salon, I'd think they would have handled this situation much differently. Unfortunately no compensation was offered and we will not be returning. read more

Curtis is a great communicator and efficient through Yelp; he helped set me up with a keratin treatment and gloss with accurate price quoting. Erika did a keratin treatment for my long, thick hair. She is very sweet and made me feel comfortable! Everyone I talked to at the salon was friendly and welcoming and seemed to be having fun. It's a nice environment! Erika did a GREAT job with the gloss/tone for my hair as she explained we had to "oversaturate" the hair to a cooler, neutral color as the keratin treatment will pull a lot of color out. She did a detailed job at making sure the hair was clean, toned, and covered with keratin prior to the heat sealant. I waited to write this review until after a few washes and my hair is much softer and calm (less frizzy, more shine) as I was hoping! read more
