Raised the prices to include the drink....Food is mediocre. Waitress never came to get our plates and give us the fortune cookies

We have loved eating here for some 25-30 years going way back to when it was Super King Buffet. We've seen it change hands a number of times. Now, these new owners have made Sakura Buffet even better than we've known it. They brought back the Mongolian BBQ on April 1st, which we have been missing. We'd go to the Bakersfield location when we had the urge for the BBQ. This place is much much better than the Bakersfield location with more selections from which to choose for your Mongolian BBQ. They also do let you put in your liquids for the BBQ here. We use all three available. The new owners discontinued the pudding not too long ago, only to bring it back. On our last several visits, we did not find the pudding. They have discontinued it again. The pudding has long been a staple at this buffet, and the new owners need to bring it back and keep it! Also, we have not seen watermelon here -- another common fruit every year. There is no reason not to include watermelon in their fruit selections (they have watermelon at the Bakersfield location). They have not had the crab legs since they took over, however, they have the dungeness/blue crab, crawfish, muscles, clams, and sometimes oysters for dinner. They also have roast for dinner, but they make the gravy too sweet. Some of these latter items mentioned used to be only available on Fridays and Saturdays with previous owners. We're also glad that the tables are spaced out better than before. It may be due to the pandemic, but it is greatly appreciated. Easier to get in and out of seating areas without feeling that we're packed like sardines. This is a great place to come and eat, but the owners need to bring back the pudding and keep it, make the roast gray NOT sweet, and bring in the watermelon. They have pretty desserts, but they don't have any flavor. Kinda bland there. We do love this eatery. read more

I went with my family for my father in laws bday there was 13 of us and a total of 11 of us got sick after eating there the food was awful and I would never go back dont take your kids my daughter was violently throwing up my brother in law called the next day and they didnt have much to say to him. On top of the fact we were all very sick the staff was so rude when then cleaned our table they threw the plates in the bucket and seemed to be very annoyed. Dont waste your money or be prepared to vomit...I would have given no stars if I could. read more

Sakura Buffet was clean but the staff was not very friendly.... I'm there for the food, so... nice variety, and FRESH items. Took off a star because the coffee was horrible. Enjoyed the variation of shrimp items. They had both Asian and American food so everyone was happy! read more

We seem to come here often. I don't really know why. The variety? The sushi? The Mongolian? It's close by...We just seem to come here..I like the freshness if you come when it's really busy. Otherwise not so much. read more

We came on a Sunday night around 7:00 p.m. There was ample parking in the lot in front of the restaurant, and the place was full of customers but still with available tables. When you walk in, you are greeted and pay for your meals before starting. It is $15.99 for a weekend day or night, and you can either tip then or later when you are served with fortune cookies. It includes drinks and ice cream. We found a booth and walked around the buffet before getting our first dishes. - Mongolian BBQ: You pile on your plate vegetables, protein, noodles and sauce. I went with cabbage, mushroom, egg noodles, shrimp, and teriyaki sauce. The cook stir fried it for a few minutes, and my plate was ready. - Chinese food: There were a lot of choices, but I'll just list the items I had; salt and pepper shrimp (nice size, not that salty or spicy); BBQ pork chops tasted like Peking spareribs but not as sweet (nice taste though); beef with broccoli (I didn't take any beef, but the broccoli was cooked just right where it was not hard but not mushy); mixed veggies (I picked out the string beans; they were similar to the broccoli and a little crunchy - perfect); cheesy wontons which had too much cream cheese for me (also not an actual Chinese food). Chow mein and fried rice were good. I'd say all were authentic but slightly too salty. - Japanese food: There were maybe 7 different types of sushi/nigiri and 2 different sashimi. I had 1 salmon nigiri (rice was big, salmon was too thin, and didn't have any taste); several pieces of salmon sashimi that were cut in cubes and tasted okay with soy sauce but didn't taste fatty at all. I also had several pieces of sushi, more like California rolls, topped with a variety of sauces. My conclusion is not to come here because of the Japanese food. - Seafood: shrimp cocktail, oysters, snow crab legs; I had about 1/2 lb of shrimp cocktail (sauce was really good! spicy but not too much); a dozen oysters (they had good flavor, but a couple had sand). My husband had about 25+ crab legs; they were hot and pretty good. - Soup: There were 4 soups available, but I didn't try any: miso, hot and sour, egg flower, and Other: Cheesy mussels (yummy but very small mussels); salad bar had about 10 choices including potato salad but didn't try any of it Desserts: Variety of cookies and cakes, jellos, fruits: I didn't try any of that. Ice cream: There were soft serve ice cream, ice cream sandwich, creamsicles, fudge bars. The last several were in the Good Humor box, but all were Walmart's Blue Ribbon products. While not GH products, it's pretty impressive that they were included Drink: Drinks are included. There were a bunch of Pepsi products, coffee. They have an Icee machine, but it's broken Service was adequate. She took our plates quickly and gave us fortune cookies when we were finished. Bathrooms were a little messy, but I feel like it was more that it needed tidying not that it was gross. All the products were there, but the paper towels were overflowing, so there was a pile on the floor. In the stalls, there were some papers on the floor as well, but that's more on the customers. I think they just need to have someone tidy up the bathroom more frequently. I would definitely return. I feel like if I went somewhere else, I would have spent at least $16 anyway. I didn't feel obligate to eat a lot since just my oysters alone was good enough. I wouldn't bother with the Japanese food next time though. read more

I honestly used to love coming to this buffet it was my go to but now that they have adopted a pay first and seat yourself set up it has made this place a nightmare we could not find a seat and when one of the employees told us to sit in a closed section since there were no tables available as we sat down we were approached by others saying it was closed and that if we stay there we would not be serviced there was no where to sit! Where were we supposed to eat? very poor customer service we did not receive any service at our table dishes piled up and we had to go and get our own drinks from the fountain because they refused to even service our table I've never been so upset at a place where I'm paying to eat this is horrible definitely never again not worth the aggravation or embarrassment horrible customer service do not recommend it's just not worth it read more

Reasonable price. Somewhat clean, when the bus people actually tend to the tables. Wish they picked up plates more often. Our last visit seemed like no one came to pick up our plates and we ended up putting them on the table behind us because we had no room. Great food but service is impersonal and a bit unfriendly. The thing I hate the most is the prices are way high and they are greedy. I went there on Mother's Day expecting a deal for moms or at the very least the same pricing. Instead they jacked the prices up to 15.99 knowing they would be busy and a family wouldn't want to offer to take mom here and leave due to expense. I hate that the most. I took my child for a lunch on Saturday. Parking lot was full but managed to find a parking not too far. They have horchata as a drink option and that's a plus for me and also has a bottle of Tapatío hot sauce in each table, that's an another plus for me. Sushi selections are decent and the Mongolian barbecue selections are decent also. Overall they have a good selection of food. Service was ok. And price is inexpensive for Buffett. I might come back to this place but since I'm on diet, it will be a long time until next time. :) read more

I have a bad experience this weekend, I fund on my food, the langostinos (crawfish) or rive shrimps are bad, I fund mold on it, this food can causing seafood poisoning, I try to speak to the manager and they tell me it's not a big problem and they continue serving the food!... the food never was removed from the pans, I stand up and live this place and hope not to get seek... people please be carful with this restaurant......SAKURA BUFFET IN LANCASTER CALIFORNIA read more

I used to come here all the time, but suddenly they adopted a "pay first" policy. In turn the terrible service has gotten even worse here. The food is good. It is not a big buffet but I think they have a lot of food. The sea food is great. The crab legs are really good. When my dad goes there he always gets a full plate of them. The food is fresh. The place is perfect for a family. I like to go there with my family and we always have a good time. Their dessert is great. They have many types of dessert: cake, cookies, fruits, etc. I always get cookies with ice cream. The parking is good. They have a lot of space and you will always be able to get a parking space. The restaurant is always full during the weekends; so, you have to wait, if you want to get a sit. If you don't have a lot of time, don't go there. They have a special bar where you can get your food and they cook it for you. read more

Came here to eat the other day and what a mistake it was. Quite honestly, this buffet caters to a certain clientele and it is evident with the low prices, less than mediocre food quality, and dirty atmosphere. I was actually a little uncomfortable eating at this establishment with its "B" rating. Pros: - Low prices - Food variety Cons: - Dirty - Clientele - Less than mediocre food quality If you want a quality buffet try Asia Buffet in Palmdale. It is definitely more pricey ($18/person for dinner) but it keeps the riff-raff out which in turn keeps the place clean and food quality much higher (although not as much of a selection as Sakura). read more

I have been coming to this Buffet for years, started coming back when it was Super King Buffet. When it became Sakura Buffet, even better . . . I love Chinese food and their variety is awesome. It is a great value for the price, there are so many things to choose from even my son (Mr. Picky) finds quite a few items he loves, especially the Orange Chicken. Visiting from Long Beach, CA about 2 hours away to see the poppy fields and the musical road...decided to check out this place because we needed something fast and easy that would accommodate 4 adults and 7 kids ranging from ages 10-2. This was the best option...we aren't huge fans of buffets as where we live the options are endless but we weren't up for a sit down dinner and having to wait for our food with 7 kids....so here goes...quality was ok...it wasn't bad but it wasn't great...variety was so limited, we're use to so much more but what can we expect from a town with not much options...this was great for Lancaster....it was great for the price we paid...we didn't expect much really....our favorite was the ice cream options our kids sure are their $5-$9's worth of ice cream (cones, Icey, ice cream sandwiches, orange & cream ice cream bars)...it was a great place to congregate with a large group and was close to everything we wanted to visit! read more

Unfortunately, there aren't many choices in Lancaster. I have been here three times hoping it will get better. Don't eat the oysters! I got a bad one and burped up the taste for two days.The staff is friendly and nice, but the guest on a Sundays, have been loud and obnoxious, each time I have been there. I love the comments about this not being Vegas quality. You people must have hit up some sweet ass buffets in Vegas. Look...I am under no delusions. I live in Lancaster okay. This place is AWESOME! especially for Lancaster. 10.99 for dinner buffet on the weekend. I was legitimately excited to come here. I'm also from Jacksonville, Fl. And Sakura being around the corner from Wal mart makes me feel right at home. The clams were yummy. The crab legs were tasty. Let's just say it! I loved it all. I am amazed by how many good reviews this place has. Also, by all the awards and accolades hanging on the walls. Either someome is blind or those awards were paid for. I saw one that celebrated the cleanliness of this place. Yes, the greasy windows, paint splatters on the booths and lamps held together by paper clips and exposed wire may constitute clean to some people but not to me. Maybe because I dont live in Lancaster? The one star is as low as I can give and I cant even account it for something. They charge $9 for a lunch buffet of indistinguishable meats in sauces, banana filling in the sushi (not kidding), and mongolian bbq. I didnt get that far. The hubs and I maybe had a total of one plate combined bc we couldn't stomach anymore. So frustrated that I paid for this crap. Asia Buffet in Palmdale is cleaner, cheaper and has more variety. I went here this past weekend. Normally when I think of the words "Sushi" and "Buffet" I would turn my nose up. But Sakura Buffet does buffet sushi differently. They only put out a little bit, and they always had a chef watching over the food and making fresh batches. It was very fresh and tasted good. The whole buffet was well kept and tended too. I watched the employees take away old food and throw it out to make sure only quality food was served to it's customers. I was very impressed with Sakura buffett. My husband and I came here for the first time after church. We were totally blessed by the huge variety of foods for a buffet. Everything we had was really delicious. We saw lots of things not normally anyplace else in a buffet like crab legs, cream cheese filled wontons, sushi and Mongolian BBQ. It was well worth the money. We will be back! read more
