We almost didn't come here. First, because we thought we had make reservations (we just stopped…read moreby), and second because we thought we had to be super dressed up (no need, just decent casual wear). For months we kept putting it off because of the early reviews, and honestly, they weren't very encouraging. After finally giving it a chance--not once, but twice (once for lunch when they just opened and once in the evening around 6ish. FYI it got packed after 9pm on the weekend.)--I feel like we got a much better sense of what this place has to offer. Hopefully this helps anyone who's still on the fence. The Food (photos attached): Every dish we ordered was excellent. The chicken wings were cooked perfectly--crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The Nashville chicken sliders were packed with flavor, the jalapeño poppers were fantastic, and the Ribeye chicharrón strips were absolutely addictive. For dessert, the butter cake was very good, but the real star was the chocolate cake. It was incredibly moist, light, and not overly sweet, making it one of the best restaurant desserts we've had in a while. The Drinks (photos attached): Outstanding across the board. I completely fell in love with the Guava Piña Colada--it was refreshing and perfectly balanced. The Paper Airplane cocktail was not only delicious but also a fun presentation. The fresh draft beer was crisp, and the margarita with its signature salted foam instead of the traditional salted rim was a unique touch that really worked. The Service: Our bartender, America, made the experience even better. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations without ever making us feel rushed. It's rare to find someone who genuinely elevates the dining experience, and she absolutely did. Excellent customer service from start to finish. The Atmosphere (photos attached): This was one of my favorite parts. During lunch, it feels like a relaxing escape from the day--peaceful, comfortable, and perfect for enjoying a conversation over a great meal. At night, the entire vibe transforms into a stylish, speakeasy-style lounge with a warm, inviting atmosphere. Despite some older reviews mentioning a strict dress code, we saw plenty of people dressed comfortably and casually, and everyone fit right in. One of the bartenders also mentioned they have live music on Friday evenings, which gives us another reason to come back. Even more exciting, they shared that they're planning to add a sports complex in the near future. If the quality of the food, drinks, service, and atmosphere are any indication, we can't wait to see what they do with that expansion. It sounds like they're committed to making this an even better destination for the community. Overall, this restaurant completely exceeded our expectations. It's beautiful, clean, serves excellent food and creative drinks, and provides outstanding service. It genuinely feels like they listened to customer feedback, made improvements, and are continuing to get better. We're so glad we gave it a chance because it turned out to be one of the nicest dining experiences we've had in a long time. We sincerely hope they stick around because we'll definitely be back--and I can easily see us becoming regulars.

My husband and I eat here 2-3 times a month, but I was able to recently host an event and it went off without a hitch! We booked the dining room the right for about a 40 person retirement party. Heather was in contact with me days before my event to see if we needed anything, which was nice. We were able to come in an hour early to decorate and set up prior to the event start, which was perfect. Sam and Joseph were able to keep up with the drink and food orders through the whole event. They provided anything and everything we asked for. The food was delicious. We pre ordered some appetizers for when we arrived and it was a nice kick off to the party. Our favorite dish is of course the mild buffalo wings and lemon pepper is a close second. The buffalo cauliflower, mozzarella sticks, and zucchini fries were also fantastic. I'm looking forward to hosting future work & personal events at Coach's Tavern! Highly recommend.

Baracoa Cuban Restaurant was an amazing discovery when we stopped for a lunch pitstop on our drive…read moreup towards Tehachapi. I can easily see them being a favorite in the Palmdale area. There was plenty of parking in this lot. The entrance is located through their patio, which can be a bit counter intuitive. We came at opening and the restaurant got really busy during our time there. Initially we were looking at the sandwiches because it was lunch time, but then we were going to a wedding that night so we decided to eat something more filling since the ceremony and speeches always delay the eating. All entrees here are served with black beans and rice or congri, and 3 fried plantains. My boyfriend had the Ropa Vieja ($28) with the congri and I had the Lechon Asado ($25) with the rice and beans. Our food came out pretty fast after we ordered. My boyfriend's Ropa Vieja is a Cuban braised beef. The congri is basically a mix of the rice and beans. This dish was super tasty and the shredded beef was so tender with the bell peppers and onions. I can really taste the red wine and tomato sauce in the base. I took a few bites but in general I preferred my dish more, and vis versa he enjoyed his dish more. My lechon asado is a roasted pork that is super super tenderrrrrr. It was so sweet with the grilled onions and it had the perfect amount of fattiness without being over bearing. SO GOOD! Love the plaintains too. I'm glad I got the rice and beans option because I would have gotten too full too quick with the congri. I barely touched my beans and only got through half of my rice. Both dishes came with this super tasty garlic butter sauce that I poured on my rice and made it even tastier. It was so good. One thing I didn't enjoy about the experience was the flies attacking us and our food. Since the door is open and connected to their outdoor space, it leaves the opportunities for flies to come in. We had to play defense with the flies the whole time. The service here is a little slow. Especially when I was trying to get back on the road I wasn't feeling too patient. I waived down multiple staff members too. Also I got hit with an undisclosed 3% surcharge for using my credit card. I only found out after I got the receipt. I would have paid in cash if I knew. *dislike* LOVE LOVE LOVE the food. Might be the best Cuban food I've ever had... and I've been to Florida where there was a lot of Cuban spots. Room for improvement with service, flies prevention, and the disclosure of the credit card fee.

My aunt made reservations to this place in Palmdale. Palmdale is a very dry, hot heated area,…read more surrounded by bushes and lizards and maybe snakes too. Anyway, this place apparently is a fancy Cuban restaurant according to my aunt. We decided to eat here for dinner after 7pm on a Saturday and it was booked. A great place to take a date if you can even get one nowadays, lucky you. You found the right place. The Cuban food ordered was a vaca frita sandwich that was reasonably priced at $17 or so. It was dry, lacked seasoning and had even more dry plantain chips on the side fried to high heaven. My aunt ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. Still dry but more moist than my vaca frita sandwich. Server was Juan, he was good, good patience and quick delivery. Good overall was mid in my book. Maybe should have ordered the $65 plate with seafood. But it was overpriced. Although I could afford it, $65 for a plate is ridiculous. The other entrees included the fried bananas but the sweeter ones and black beans and rice with for example oxtail, fried steak, chicken and pork, of which was overpriced as well. At least $30 for each dish or more. Take a look at that menu. The ambiance inside was loud, outside was louder. Music was playing and there was this massive window door that separated the inside and outside. Inside it was small, there was a bar area for alcohol drinkers and in the back was a nice restroom. Other than that, it was a decent Cuban place, needs to adjust prices for the entree, but the sandwiches were at that sweet spot. The sand which to me needed sauce like tabasco or cholulu or some sort of wet birria sauce that would make it taste better. Incredibly dry, was not a fan of the texture, taste was fine. Came out to $50 for both plates and it was a little lackluster in my opinion but everything else, good service, nice ambiance and decent sandwich prices, it was worth the visit but maybe a one and done not sure. Maybe the plates are delicious.

This is a review in two parts. First, lunch…read more Maxdons claims to have the best steaks in town. Pretty bold statement. However, the place has been around for a long time and the rumor is that it is pretty darn good so I figured I would try the lunch menu. I will be returning this weekend to try the dinner menu and report in on any differences that I may find because this lunch experience was somewhat unique and definitely worth writing about. Upon entering, I was washed over with a wave of nostalgia. It reminded me of all of those semi-fancy places I got to experience with my parents in the 1970s from the lighting to the ambience to the music to the general overall feel, which is very welcoming. And if you are as old as I am, will definitely take you back. And that is a great way to get an appetite started. However, that's when things got a little strange... On a Saturday afternoon, they had exactly one young lady tending bar, working the grill, and acting as a server for not only the interior but for the outside patio area. I'm not sure whether or not this is a gimmick or just a very inefficient way to save money, but let me tell you that that young lady worked herself crazy to take care of everybody and under the circumstances did a fine job of it. Unfortunately, the grill is out in the main dining area and an open fire grill unattended can create somewhat of a safety issue. In addition, an old gentleman well into his cups decided to go over and place his face 6 inches above the food that was currently being cooked, which I thought was a little unsettling. Based on all of this, I decided to order a cheeseburger in that I did not want to risk $50-$60 on a steak that was not going to be attended to consistently. That, dear reader, will come to pass this weekend when I go in for dinner this weekend. Now that we have a basic understanding of the layout, I want to mention a few awesome things: The cocktails were very well made. Generous pours, but they didn't overdo it and the result was delicious. I, myself, enjoyed a Mai Tai. The salad bar was modestly stocked, but did not have a bunch of unnecessary, ridiculous items that people seem to think makes a salad taste better. They also had a soup of the day. But, at 95° outside was not on my list of things to eat. Again, that will be Saturday. The cheeseburger was surprisingly delicious due to the fact that I don't think it was looked at more than twice and flipped more than once, but it was pretty darn good with a great char, and medium as ordered. Upon requesting the check, it was noticed that the dinner salad listed on the menu at $7.99 was charged at $25. After three different conversations, the overworked server / cook / bartender realized the error and immediately made things right. All in all this place is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The research I did shows that the locals just love it. You can go on a classy date or something casual with some friends, and you will still have that sophisticated, refined throwback to an earlier time when going out to dinner was truly an event. The only concern I have is for a staff member having to deal with several people and wear several hats with no backup whatsoever. The inability to stay on top of a grill that is consistently going in the main dining area is a safety concern, but not the fault of the server herself. This is a management decision and I would definitely recommend that a second person is always on whether it is lunch or dinner. She did mention that in the dinner time cycle, there is another person who comes in to assist and that is the reason I'm going back Saturday. I want to see how the dinner turn and burn works because the burger was really good and I imagine that the steaks are gonna be just as good as everybody says they are. It is definitely worth a visit. Until then....
