My boyfriend and I are obsessed with this place. I moved here from Manhattan where I had unlimited amazing sushi options and was worried I wouldn't find the same quality here in the Bronx, but couldn't be happier with what I found at Sake II, it's the same if not better than my favorite manhattan spots. I was completely surprised by the quality and service by this little spot in the bronx on 187th. The sushi was awesome. I went simple and got the traditional spicy salmon and a few philly roles and was really satisfied. Looking forward to trying much more on future visits. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE!!!! Do not order from here because they are RUDEEE. I ordered 2 orders of the any 3 rolls sushi special and had it delivered to my house. My order was $30 total but I HAD to pay the driver $5 cash for making the delivery. When my order got here, I realized that they messed up one of my orders and gave me spicy tuna sushi instead of salmon avocado sushi. So I called to tell them they made a mistake and the lady did not even believe me at first... she literally gave me her personal number to send her pictures of the order. So after she saw the evidence, she offered to give me $5 store credit OR have my salmon avocado delivered with me having to pay the $5 cash delivery fee AGAIN. *WHICH LITERALLY MAKES NO SENSE!* So I told her that it doesn't make sense and that I would like my correct order delivered again. And she said that is not possible because I am too far from the restaurant and the delivery guy demands $5. Then she had the audacity to tell me to go pick up the order myself, or to try uber eats instead next time (rather then ordering through their website). So I told her this is YOUR mistake NOT MINE, so I deserve either my $15 back into my card or my correct order delivered with no extra charge. THEN she had the nerve to tell me that she didn't want to continue speaking to me because I was giving her a headache; and then she hung up on me while I was speaking. Then I called again and a man answered the phone and was a bit nicer but kept insisting that I give him my name and number so they can just write me down for $5 store credit. And then when I asked for when his boss will be at the restaurant, he HUNG UP THE PHONE. In conclusion, I don't recommend this place to anyone. There is a Hispanic delivery man who is consistently rude and refuses to come upstairs because he says he has a lot of other deliveries, today I specifically wrote in the comments to bring upstairs because I was injured.. and he still argued with me and said still if you are injured u should come down stairs next time a bit earlier. None of the other delivery men do this... he also claims that he cant figure out my buzzer in which all u have to do is press the apt number and the call button.. The service could've been better in many ways. Since I dine in many restaurants, common things like water or the offer of a beverage is an automatic thing but in this case it was not. The presentation of the appetizers and the main course needed a lot of work. I'm accustomed to being served in a small teapot when being served tea, in this case I was served in one ceramic cup and the tea was lukewarm and was not offered a refill. Since this was a test trial, we spent about $80 to get the full feel of what's on the menu, it was okay and still not sure if I would go back. The lady on the phone was very rude. She said I missed the delivery call, but the call immediately stopped. I replied immediately to the delivery text message saying I was coming down. I tried to call back as soon as possible, but the deliver person didn't take my call only one minute after I missed the call. Sake II is, by far, the best Asian restaurant in the Fordham-area. They are extremely respectful of dietary modifications and special requests. Plus, they are Fordham University student friendly. I have asked, numerous times, for extra rice and they add it with no problem!! Amazing! There sushi is really good and tastes fresh. In general, if you want to have a good meal that will energize you, rather then slump you down (like most Asian food places in the Bronx do), then order from Sake II. I used to LOVE this place, service has slowly been declining, the lady that calls back once the online order has been received is rude and their new delivery rule is NUTS. The delivery minimum went from $20 to a whooping $30 + a mandatory $5 tip. $30 worth of food for 1 person is ridiculous. I love sushi, but it's just not worth it anymore. It's difficult to find sushi in the Bronx and we were happy to have found a place but the fish was sliced so thinly you could see the rice through it. We were the only people in the restaurant when we went and the place is rather small (it seems more like a take-out restaurant). The people weren't very welcoming or friendly either. Overall if we happened to be around and craving sushi we might consider going in again but we certainly wouldn't go out of our way to eat here. Ok ya'll know that when I write a Yelp review it's either absolutely amazing or so super got damn awful I have to let the public know...WELL CHILE LISTEN UP!!! I have eaten spicy tuna rolls from fancy restaurants in Beverly Hills to the Jack's Dollar store on 31st by Penn Station ( seriously I did!) and everywhere in between.So my pallet is pretty discerning and well developed. With that said THIS was DE WORST SPICY TUNA ROLL I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! ( including the rolls I had from Jacks and Duane Reed which were surprisingly pretty good)...I'M NOT KIDDING!! My coworkers and I ordered from this place today and NO ONE was happy. I had the Terriyaki Salmon Bento box with a spicy tuna roll. As I am eating the Spicy tuna I'm asking myself " why is this so bad? Did I do something to deserve this?" The Spicy Tuna was not at all spicy, and the tuna tasted stale and old as did the seaweed and the rice and the tempura sprinkle...like what did I eat?!? It was what you would imagine the food display of this lunch to taste like after it's been in the display window for 2 days! The salmon portions were really small and even though I specifically asked for low sodium soy sauce, I got none instead. That's right, no soy sauce for the spicy tuna roll. As a matter of fact, there was no soy sauce in ANYONE's lunch! There was an order of Hibachi scallops that came with 3 small pieces of scallops, and there was an order of Hibachi chicken that came with dry chicken. NOT ONE PERSON was happy with their order! To not be a jerk I called the restaurant to say " hey, we were not happy with the order and were missing soy sauce" and the chick on the phone says " oh you must have made a mistake because the soy sauce was in there. Someone else must have taken it". I said " my spicy tuna roll was not spicy at all" She said" that's how we normally make it because people don't like it spicy. If you want it to be spicy you have to let us know." O_O Can you PLEASE TELL ME WHY DA HELL DO YOU CALL IT A SPICY TUNA ROLL IF IT IS NOT SPICY?!? LORD BLACK BABY JESUS I CAN'T!!!!!!!!!! So I say" might we get a discount on our next order" She says" Oh we don't give discounts because that's how we normally make our food. Sorry you don't like it" So maybe it's me and my overly developed pallet for Japanese food because I see this place has better reviews from other people....and cheap sushi is always worth a try....but here you really do get what you pay for. Like they are NOT trying give you quality...maybe the quality is based on how much you pay and when you eat there. Like if you come in they say" oh she looks like she had sushi before, make it good" as opposed to calling on the phone from our ghetto office address " oh they in da ghetto, it won't matter how we make the food because they don't know better".
