Food was so good. Crab legs were a decent size and the prices are affordable. On my way now to get some crab legs with garlic butter.

As a foodie who travels to many restaurants in many states and countries to try different ethnic cuisine, Hook & Reel in the boogie down, Bronx did not disappoint me at all. I went with my son and was very happy with their outstanding service, food, atmosphere, and their caring and professionalism. I will definitely not hesitate to recommend anyone to visit and enjoy their food, hospitality and professional, which many restaurants lack in our days. They have many large screen tv's to watch sports, etc., as you sit and enjoy your lunch, dinner and drinks. We had hush puppies, Catfish Basket, Wings, The Cajun Boil, which included Crawfish, Black Mussels, Shrimp, spicy and few alcohol beverages. Words cannot express how satisfying we were today. Like to thank our server Shawn, and special thanks to Ella, owner of Hook & Real, who came by to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and she went around as well too to attend other customers. Ella, caring, professional and hospitality is what makes a business. If you are around in the area drop by to enjoy a wonderful experience of their food and hospitality. I will definitely come back again. Once again, they continue with a 5-star rating. Thank you, Ella and your server Shawn.

On this revisit to this particular location, I came because…read moremy friend wanted to do happy hour here to kick off our spring break session, (we were off from work because our schools are closed.) We missed happy hour because it was over at 6 and we arrived at 6:30, she thought it was until 7pm, bummer for us. They also had no live dee jay like my last visit. We still decided to dine in anyway because she really had a taste for some seafood. I went ahead and ordered a mini shrimp boil along with some crab fries and a frozen drink that was not worth taking a picture. First off the crab fries did not have real crab meat and I was told it did, but once I ate around that, my fries were really crispy and tasty. Second my shrimp was not deveined because I ordered them with the head attached and my friend who didn't have the head attached, her shrimp was. Had I known this I to would have just ordered no head attached. It is a way to devein a shrimp with the head still attached to it, but I digress. After spending time trying to devein it myself, the shrimp was just ok. My corn was the best part of the boil, unfortunately it only came with one piece. My drink was just down right watery. It was not blended well and had no taste of alcohol. My server, who was very nice and friendly, gave me a free shot with it because the drink was just a hot mess. My overall experience to be honest. I don't care for this place and I really don't like seafood franchises. They seem to have some locations better than others but when it comes to the seafood itself, they really miss the mark. I'm glad that everything I received was a good price and really affordable, but I rather spend my money elsewhere. If you want to come because it is a big location to accommodate a large crowd, and your on a tight budget, well than sure I'd say try them but I would look for a better location, such as the one I went to in Yonkers, but this particular location, I would not recommend. So on that note Happy Yelping!

So came back to try another sandwich...I have yet to try something from Ann Claire's. This is just…read morecloser and I've heard has a better selection because they have many pre-made sandwiches you can order from. This time around I tried the Morris Park Special and this might be my new fave here. The red peppers and Sopresatta (Italian dry-cured salami) is what makes this sandwich great. There are slices of deep fried eggplant as well, but honestly, next time I would opt out of the eggplant and ask for extra peppers. The inside of the sandwich is then drizzled with olive oil vinaigrette (?) and it is just to-die-for. I knew that only half of the regular would be enough for me, but honestly, it was so darn tasty that I had to eat the other half...and quick too (hence, the reason for no pictures). Some changes have been to the place. Instead of the many fliers tacked up on the wall of each sandwich, they've now installed boards with the sandwiches neatly typed on it. A needed improvement. The hot food was out as well (out at 11AM) and looked very fresh and good as well. There were meatballs and pasta and fried chicken tenders. The cold pastas in the counter as well as by the hot food items looked good as well. Can't wait to come back and try another sandwich!

I've had a variety of their hot and cold sandwiches and tried their buffet once. The food here is pretty good. I really like the sandwiches. Everything is fresh and made with care. During lunch time, this place gets really busy and the lines are long because it's one of the few viable lunch options in the area. Because of this, the prices are a little steep. I can find similar food at lower prices in other places in the Bronx. The prices are comparable to Manhattan here. I ordered the spicy Italian sandwich and it came out to $7. The other sandwiches here are in the $5-6 range and are also really good. But I do have to say the spicy Italian was my favorite. I know I will be coming here more when a deli craving hits. Their sandwiches are worth the money. But beware of the really long lines during lunch hour! The sandwiches (esp the hot ones) take a while to make, but I like that everything is fresh.
