Stopped in with a few family members (not my choice). First of all the establishment is a cash only place, they conveniently have several ATMs at the restaurant for a fee. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor dinning tables. Honestly this place really seems like fast food sea food style. Personally, I just am not a fan. I ordered the New England Clam Chowder which was not the way I like it, it was very runny and watery. I had the ribs because I did not want any fried sea food. The ribs were bad, smothered in awful bbq sauce. The only thing I liked were the tostones. My girlfriend ordered the fried whiting and it had no flavor it was rather blah. I did not like this place and will not return.

The food was fried great nice and greasy just the way I like it. I ordered a fried fish platter with all the fixings. The clams the shrimp the calamari the fried fish the fries. The service was nice and quick. The food did not take long at all. You can eat inside or out side. Clean place.

The food and service at Tony's is always amazing. They are fast and efficient. The food is delicious. Prices aren't bad. There is plenty of seating. I loveeee coming by whenever I'm craving seafood!

This place has been a staple in my life for about a year now. It's a beautiful restaurant with a cafeteria style feel near the waters of City Island. Despite them selling seafood it never really smells that way, is always clean and is nicely setup. There is usually a good amount of people here even on slow days. The workers are quick and the orders are taken and delivered very quickly. My favorite thing here is for sure the DRINKS. They have the best bar, best Henny Colada in town. The food is also great and I 100% recommend you come in here at least once in your life!

We got 12-15 ketchup and salt packets. HUGE WASTE

I am not from around here anymore. I have been living in Southern California. I missed good seafood and my brother recommended Tony's on City Island. I had been hearing about this place for some 30+ years ago. So, as I was staying in PA for a while I decided to make the trip. The drive was 3 hours one way! So grateful the weather was nice. We arrived at 11:14am. The parking lot was empty. There's plenty g parking. Like A LOT!! When we entered there were 4 other people. I was at a loss as it was my first time. We approached the counter reading the wall menus trying to decide and instead of asking if we needed any help or had questions he told us to hurry up and order. There was no one behind me. My mother is in her 80's and I have to order smart for her. Not everything fried. That went out the window. Ordered her a Lobster, Shrimp & Fries. She was good with the shrimp. Wasn't impressed with the fries. Everything was warm. I like my food hot. I expect it to come out hot. It's FRIED -it should come out hot. Cold Cement floors which I imagine is a good thing when it's hot outside and packed inside. Lots of tables. They are all uncomfortable for larger folks. If the chairs slid back or were an inch or two farther from the tables it would work. They have an ATM on the premises. And at the prices here - you're going to need a lot of cash. They offer a full bar. I got an ICE COLD CORONA. I was happy it was ice cold. It was the only thing that came out at an appropriate temperature. I ordered a Lobster shrimp Combo - fried the coleslaw served with it was almost an insult. The tartar sauce WAS an insult. The tartar sauce was gross. Watery. Flavorless. My brother ordered the Fish Fry Combo - scallops, Trout (?) - with the fish bones still on the filets. When they sent out the wrong food - my brother went back. Almost 20 minutes later - he came back frustrated. The counter guy had not put in my order. As we paid THAT price I wanted the items. Instead of addressing THEIR mistake and getting me my food ASAP - they decided it was more important to argue in front of everyone waiting to order. It was pathetic. Unprofessional. The food was just not at peak - and we were literally the THIRD order of the day. The bathrooms could use some attention. Management should consider retraining but this is a cash cow. They won't change anything. They don't consider it broken. Overpriced / Total disappointment Checkout SEAFOOD CITY - same concept done right. It's just a few streets up. OUTRAGEOUS! Better bar offerings. Friendly employees. Good food!!

Came here with family for a quick seafood run as Johnny's is closed during the winter . My only complaint is that they changed how they make the fried shrimps which I wasn't a fan of . I ordered lobster tails and shrimps. The lobster tail was so good, well seasoned and tender , I ordered some as well as crabs to go . Was not too crowded and service was excellent . Tasted a Dusse colada which was good as well.

Here is a spot in the bronx that I have been to several times and never disappoints. Tony's pier. Located all the way in the back of city island on the right-hand side. I came here with friends on this rainy gloomy day, so it was not packed with people. That might be different in the warmer weather seasons. Tony's pier. I usually get the fried combination platter even tho I can't finish it. It comes with whiting, flounder, calamari, shrimp, scallop, and clams. The place looks great now and has a lot of seating.Service goes pretty smoothly. I recommend giving tips to the bar host. Your drinks will be stronger each time, lol.

My uncle and I visited this restaurant for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere, specifically outside seating area is very scenic and has great views! The only part that was quite unexpected was the very long line and wait time. We waited in line to order our food for about 45 minutes! Once we finally got to order, we received our food quickly but the wait time was ridiculous. We ordered the fried lobster tails with shrimp and fries. We both enjoyed our meals. It could have used a little more seasoning but it was good. I would have given it 4 stars but it gets 3 stars because of the ridiculous long wait time to order.

I've been going to this restaurant since I was a little girl. I would feed the seagulls (b/c it is at the end of city island where the water & rocks are) French fries. My go tos are the shrimp dinner(consists of fried shrimps, steak fries, & coleslaw) or fried lobster tail. Their tartar sauce & coleslaw slaw are the best I ever tasted. You can tell their both homemade! Staff isn't very friendly but they have fast service! Most items are fried & it is mad fresh when you order. They fry it by order so food isn't just sitting there. Drinks are ok they have fallen off on that. I always order a henny colada. The atmosphere is nice outside bc you can sit by the water. However, inside is cafeteria like.

I wish I could give this place higher than 3 stars but unfortunately it lacks in some areas. I have been coming here for a couple of years now and their food continues to be very consistent in flavor but they haven't remodeled or invested any money in trying to make the place itself look better. The bathrooms are usually not that clean, the dining area is pretty simple with plastic red benches which are not the most comfortable. The outside seating area is usually not that clean either. Their frozen piña coladas are very good, they are generous with the amount of liquor they put in. My favorite thing to order is their fried lobster tails that comes with 4 tails and French fries and right now is costing $40. Their baked clams are also delicious; the breading is very flavorful. Their oyster bar is a hit or miss; some days are better than others. Their French fries are not good; they lack a lot of flavor. The line is usually pretty long since it is a very popular spot in city Island so you can see yourself waiting maybe 20 minutes on the line and other 10-15 minutes for the food. They do have a large parking lot so parking is never an issue.

Tony's is similar to the other no frills place across from it, Johnny's Reef. You go inside, order at the counter, and receive your food on a plastic tray with paper plates and plastic cutlery. The menu is mostly fried seafood and they even sell $5 beers and cocktails too. This place is a good option if you want to save some money and do not care to be at a fancier place. Best of all, it is located at the end of island and there is outdoor seating that is right on the water.

The chef comes from the world of high-end NYC dining, and you can feel that experience in every detail of the food. There's a level of creativity, precision, and thoughtfulness here that honestly feels Michelin-worthy. This makes sense, because the restaurant has earned that recognition. Beyond the food, Archie's also has one of the best Scotch and whiskey (bourbon and rye included) selections anywhere in the area. It feels curated by people who genuinely care about food and drink, not just running another restaurant. We eat there often, especially for brunch, which is spectacular and consistently better than it has any right to be for a neighborhood spot on City Island. The best example of the attention to detail was the chopped cheese sandwich special. When it arrived, my first thought was: "How is anyone supposed to eat this giant thing?" But then you take a bite and realize the bread was custom made specifically for the sandwich. Somehow it completely melts in your mouth along with the meat and cheese, making this enormous sandwich unexpectedly delicate and perfectly balanced. It's the kind of detail most restaurants would never even think about. Archie's is a true hidden gem and proof that truly exceptional food can exist in places you wouldn't expect.

The garlic bread was absolutely divine--each piece bursting with the aroma of fresh garlic and infused with a silky finish of premium olive oil. It's the kind of bread that sets the perfect tone for the meal to come. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the stuffed flounder. This beautifully prepared fillet showcased the chef's skill, generously filled with succulent crab meat that complemented the delicate, flaky fish perfectly. Every bite was a harmonious blend of flavors that melted on the palate. Accompanying the flounder was a baked potato that deserves its own praise. Tender, smooth, and perfectly seasoned, it had a wonderful buttery texture that paired beautifully with the main course. I also indulged in the fried shrimp, which arrived golden and crispy. The accompanying sauce elevated the dish to another level entirely--perfectly balanced and expertly crafted to enhance rather than overpower the natural sweetness of the shrimp. The french fries were equally impressive: crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. JP's has earned a loyal customer in me. Every element of this meal demonstrated care, quality, and culinary expertise. Highly recommended for anyone seeking exceptional seafood on City Island. Fried flounder sandwich $22 Tasteless!!! There was absolutely no seasoning to the flounder nor the batter that it was fried in. I swear it tasted like "nothing." 3. Clam chowder (forgot the price) Upon opening the container, we saw a film of oil on the top. Having lived in New England for a couple of years, I have had my fair share of clam chowders and this was just missed the mark by a bunch. My daughter and I had a spoonful of this chowder and it was awful. The chowder was gritty and not smooth. Also, the color was off (beige color). Yes, it was beige color and not that smooth white color. It had no clam taste, but rather a taste of that bottle container clam juice you get from the grocery store. We never went past after the one spoonful. Yes, it was that awful. 4. Clam bellies (forgot the price) Again, no seasoning. However, it was fresh and the best thing we ate. The clam bellies were good size. The batter was light. Everything about this dish hit the mark (minus the lack of salt/seasoning). The people who worked there were pleasant. They were not rude or disrespectful. However, the way how we were seated was unpleasant. We were a party of 2. We paid for our food. Bought enough of food for 4 people, because we wanted to try as much as we can. However, we couldn't sit at a table next to the harbor. We had to sit at a high table with a busted umbrella that that food stain AND the tables were next to the line. So as you're eating, people next to you are waiting online can look and hear your conversation. Mind you, there was a table left that was next to the harbor but they wouldn't give it to us because they want to give that to a family of 4 or more. It is just very poorly managed or it could be that we're not "special" enough to be seated next to the harbor. Note: Obviously, I don't feel privileged enough to be eating there. When they said they're not willing to give me the seating next to the harbor, I kindly asked them to pack my food to go. Again, the staff was pleasant but their subtle entitlement is what threw me off. I do NOT recommend this place at all for a good seafood fix. There are better places at south shore that will serve "seasoned" food with nicer hospitality.
