Henny coladas are always a favorite here and an NYC summertime staple that yoh can't go wrong with. Come with cash because they are cash only !

This placed is rightfully called "Seafood City"! The menu is extensive. It's very difficult to decide on what to get. If you don't come early, you will be on line for over 30 minutes. And it's another 30-45 minute wait to actually get your food. Unfortunately I was unable to wait to get food so I got a couple of drinks; Henny Colada and the Blue Hawaiian. Both drinks were equally delicious and strong. I can't wait to come back here and experience the food. Cash Only.

I wasn't prepared for this Instagram recommendation to actually live up to the hype--but Seafood City did just that. First off, plenty of free parking, which in New York feels like striking gold. Walking in, I was surprised to see a massive, cafeteria-style setup with rows of picnic tables. It wasn't the vibe I expected, but once I settled in, it worked for the casual, lively atmosphere. The menu is huge, filled with countless seafood combos at very reasonable prices. I ordered the Seafood Paella and Manhattan Clam Chowder. The chowder was a bit different than I anticipated--more like a seafood-infused minestrone--but still flavorful and hearty. The paella, however, really impressed me. Perfectly cooked rice (not gummy at all) with every piece of seafood tender, well-seasoned, and balanced throughout the dish. I chose to sit outside, which made the experience even better. There's an outdoor bar with frozen and on-the-rocks drinks, plus waterfront views where you can watch the boats lined up along the docks. The atmosphere, paired with fresh food and fair prices, makes this a spot worth the trip to City Island. Would definitely come back when I'm craving a casual seafood fix with a view.

Love this spot for chill vibes and good seafood. Its very casual so if you want more sit down with service don't come here. It's more cafeteria style wait with a number. I think the prices are reasonable and the drinks def have liqqqqaaaaa. Crab legs and french fries are my go to but the lobster tails are good too. Def stop by the bar! But please note they are CASH ONLY. They do have atms but of course that has a fee.

This spot is doing THIS right!! 100%! There is plenty of parking. We came here directly AFTER eating at Tony's. OMG am I glad we did. Tony's was a disappointment. This place has personality. Check out my pics!! My brother ordered 2 dozen Oysters, Fried Lobster and Shrimp. The fries here and skinny short fries. The shrimp were delicious!! The lobster was also delicious. The CORONA was also iced cold. The oysters were huge and UBER FRESH! They were served with lemon wedges, horseradish, ketchup, Tabasco sauce. YUMMY!! If you are bringing children - they have an arcade area and the decor ALL OVER is FUNTASTIC! Outdoor patio has plenty of seating over looking the waterfront. All-in-all a fantastic end to a really unsatisfactory day. COME EAT HERE!!

We've been going to Seafood City for years. It's our go-to spot for the food, drinks, service and very spacious whenever in CI. Great spot to ride in on your motorcycle; plenty of parking. Pretty clean facilities. Quick service and the drinks are amazing. Not sure about some of these reviews saying they're watered down - oh hell no!! At least that was never the case when we've gone there over the years. Try their Henny colada (strong) and you'll see. The only con they don't have umbrellas at the bench tables to prevent the sun beating on your head. Overall nice place and definitely recommended.

This restaurant has been a part of my life for more than 22 years, and each time I go, it feels special and nostalgic. When I was a child, I can still recall thinking I was traveling to an exotic place, like the Caribbean, to have fresh seafood on the drive to City Island. Once we arrived I would grab my meal and run outside on to the seats, taking in the grandeur of the water's vista. I will not gatekeep Seafood City, the Bronx's secret jewel! If you're looking for delicious fried shrimp with a side order of french fries (which also includes a pickle and coleslaw), Seafood City is one of the greatest places to go. The shrimp tastes even better when you squeeze some lemon over it. They have a huge menu and also make delicious baked clams, crab legs, and lobster tails. The seafood here is incredibly fresh, you will not find anything like this in New York. The portions are substantial and the order of shrimp and fries, along with the sides, costs less than $20. The pricing is also reasonable. It should be noted that this establishment accepts only cash. However, there is an ATM on site for you to withdraw cash, or you can go to a local bank. There is plenty of space to park if you are driving because the lot is large. You can also take public transportation use the 6 line to Pelham Bay and then transfer to the 29 bus to get to City Island. This location is both indoor and outdoor seating, and is ideal for large gatherings. However, it is self-serve with no wait staff. I can not forget about the Pina Colada, which is the main deal, to Henny or not Henny? (IYKYK) The cherry is the best part, and you can choose whether or not you want alcohol in it. Personally, I like both! This beverage is ideal for a spring or summer day, and it's delightful to sit outside and enjoy the view of the water. They also have wine, sangria and other cocktails.

My favorite go to seafood spot for a quick bite. We went early, so they were empty and service was quick. It was nice, clean and quiet.

Cool casual spot to grab some seafood. Food not bad. Shrimp were good when ate with tartar sauce and hot sauce. Snow Crab legs were a bit skinny but tasty. Filet of sole stuffed with crab meat was disappointing, full of bones and small pieces of crab shells.

The service is good. The place is clean these people really take care of you when you come here. The service is really fast. The drinks are decent. The prices are amazing. They do have an outside area where you can sit outside the summertime but there's nobody out there today cause it's kind of cold outside, but they also have a game area where the kids can play games and you can just take your time and eat your food and enjoy your company. People are having birthday parties and anniversary parties and celebrations here, taking pictures, singing, and having a good time I like it here occasionally.

Friends took me here for my birthday and we had reservations at another place, but they "lost" them? All of us have been here before so we decided why not, and see what happens. The place was incredibly busy, we had about a 20 minute wait but it was worth it! Our server Robert was top notch. Professional and cordial. He Immediately came over with glasses of water, garlic bread, cheese and olive tapas, a house salad, and napkins. Tried the broiled fisherman's combo: shrimp, scallops, fish fillet, mussels, stuffed clams, lobster tail, and a side, I opted for linguini with garlic aioli. Everything was cooked very well and the presentation amazing and beautiful. Now here's something you don't see every day; an actual stuffed clam where the clam is still partially attached to the shell! None of that surimi crap! Finished the meal with a double espresso, shared a tartufo and cheese cake. I don't know if the digestif was complementary, but it was a nice touch. I don't know how the kitchen keeps up with the orders. The waitstaff must put a few miles on their feet a day and a cardio workout carrying the trays overflowing with food. Amazing! Everything in the restaurant is kept neat, clean, and organized. The music is not overwhelming. You can hear each other at the table. When the weather is a little nicer, they have beautiful outdoor seating with views of Long Island sound. It is very romantic, when the sun is setting, you can imagine yourself being somewhere exotic and far away. As the song goes; "Sometimes you don't know what you got till it's gone."

At 6:30, it wasn't busy, probably because there was a snowstorm the night before? We'd ordered The Seafood broil and a side of New England Clam Chowder. Yes, they brought out a (very generic) salad for the table, garlic bread (good - best part of what was served, honestly), and a (mediocre) 'antipasto'. The Clam Chowder comes, its tepid and so thick that the spoon is standing up in the bowl. Tasted it ("Has this been sitting since yesterday?"), and hard pass. Sent it back. They apologized, came back in 7 minutes with replacement bowls "we made it fresh". In seven minutes? It was warmer and thinner, but the damage was already done to my palate and phyche. "No thank you" *not even for free Of course, the plates come as that soup arrives - there's no room on the table, anyway. The main course was as disappointing as everything else: If you like alot of seasoning, a ton of breadcrumbs and grease - by all means, order that seafood broil! The two and a half inch lobster tail was the highlight, the shrimp wasn't bad - but the scallops, clams and all the rest were absolutely smothered in breadcrumbs, old bay and grease. We were looking for a replacement for (the now closed) Artie's. This ain't it. I'll spend the time and money to drive to Jordan's Lobster Farm in Island Park when I want quality seafood, I guess. I wish I'd taken photos to accompany this review, but I kept trying to salvage the evening and enjoy the company of friends I hadn't seen in awhile. Overrated diner with valet parking. Do better.

Send one to get the fried's, one to get the steamed, raw, etc. It looks like any seasonal shack on the eastern seaboard, but just a tad busier and a tad nicer. Service is good becuase it's far enough away from the NYC grind that people aint tryna bring that vibe. They're trying to have a different experience. It's got great views. Cash only of course. Seating is cafeteria style. I usually have to go for a walk afterwards to help digest everything. Prices are high if you indulge or come with your whole family, but it's kinda in line if your tryna splurge and go big. My usual order is steamed snow crab legs, fried calamari, fried clam strips, steamed cherry's and little necks (or raw if it's daytime or late summer) and a steamed whole snapper if I'm with more than 1 person. It's a feast, but worth a gout attack. It's fresh seafood that's well prepared and simple. You can't go wrong on the cocktail sauces, butter, lemon on most items.

We walked in the nautically themed Crab Shanty and were seated quickly. The fries were good, the clams and shrimp better and the lobster was great. The lobster is buttered and seasoned well. These are not jumbo lobster, but adequate for the price point. This beautifully prepared fillet showcased the chef's skill, generously filled with succulent crab meat that complemented the delicate, flaky fish perfectly. For those who live in Co-op City and the immediate vicinity, this is place I would keep steadily on repeat. Part of my experience was navigating the MTA subway, specifically the 2 and 5 trains, thinking Baychester Ave on the 5 was the best stop, but the end of the line at Eastchester-Dyre Avenue may be better. Walking Tillotson Ave from Baychester, you have to know how to take Tillotson to its apparent end along the New England Thruway and where to cross a pedestrian walkway that passes over I-95 to access the continuation of Tillotson on the Co-op City side of I-95. Access to Kaijin can be a factor in your experience, but the experience adds to my knowledge of NYC and how to do it again, because Kaijin is worthwhile to experience again. I arrived around 4:30 on a Saturday. This was a mistake. I would arrive when the restaurant opens or when the dinner rush calms down after seven. As a single person, they will lower your priority on the wait-list. I checked a few times as my number 16 was passed over until I insisted when number 32 was called. They could improve the management of the wait-list. They are trying to seat as many people as possible and many come as large parties for birthdays and from Connecticut and Virginia I overheard. Right off I-95, Kaijin has become a destination, so you are better to visit on a weekday and avoid the weekends if possible. Getting right to the point, the steamed lobster tails come out hot, buttered and well seasoned. On a crowded Saturday, a few people are very aggressive with one woman being offensive. I didn't escalate, but I can see this becoming a hostile scene. They bring out the lobster tails and ring a bell to let everyone know. Waiting for my second lobster tail around the 70 minute mark, I had my plate ready. On a busy weekend afternoon or evening, you will be lucky to have three lobster tails. I did not take any pictures after a lengthy trip to the restaurant and about an hour wait. There is something for everyone and it's not all seafood. The fried chicken looked great. I never got over to the sushi or salad and cold items buffet . The steak and beef short ribs cut the Asian style were not as tender and tasty as I had hoped. The baked salmon was good. The steamed deveined shrimp were better, along with the mussels, both very fresh and well seasoned; though, the shrimp can become overcooked if sitting out too long. The buttery seafood shells, crispy calamari and fried fish were excellent and I ate plenty. That fried fish was crispy on the outside with seasoned batter and flaky inside, almost like cod! I was not in the mood to eat the always plentiful crab legs after my efforts this Saturday. The lobster was superb, but I only managed two. I did not get to the ice cream and desserts. I can understand there is plenty of room for a more glowing review if you are able to access Kaijin at a better day and time, but my reviews are based on facts and real time experience. One could come for the $24 weekday lunch buffet, minus the lobster, or come for the $39 dinner buffet with the lobster on a weekday evening. Given the dinner buffet is open all weekend, I imagine you are better arriving very early or perhaps come after seven on a weekend. Almost everyone behaved well under the circumstances. When I was finally seated, the server quickly took my drink order, lemon iced tea, and never let my glass go empty. My plates and napkins were cleared regularly and efficiently. They did not rush you with the bill at the ninety minute mark and my table was made ready for the next guests by the time I put on my hat and backpack. The bathroom in the back right corner was clean on the way out. 3.7 stars, but could be better on a weekday.
