Been here a few times for a pick up with no complaints. Yesterday was tired and didn't want to cook so I stopped by to pick up a small pork fried rice and small wonton soup. Went home to find out that the wonton soup had the main ingredient missing- WONTONS! How the heck can you leave this out! If it wasn't that I was tired, I would have taken the soup back. For appetizer we had korean beef and for dinner we had house special Pad Kee Mao and korean pork both spicy as we expected. I love ramen, and for a long time I would limit my ramen consumption to Manhattan as I couldn't find a good place to eat it in the Bronx and getting there needed more effort and travel. When Shangerila opened, I was overjoyed since it quickly became one of my favorite places in the Bronx. If you love ramen as much as I do, you'll love that this restaurant offers a large variety of ramen, including tonkotsu, shoyu, vegetarian, and seafood! My personal favorite dish is the Spicy Miso Ramen, which tastes really good and is authentic. You may get an extra side of chili paste, which is what I do! Their flavorful shrimp dumplings are another thing I adore, and this dish is excellent for a chilly winter day! And don't worry if you're not a lover of ramen--their menu, which includes Japanese and traditional Asian cuisine, is great. They also serve freshly made sushi, and their wonderful Mongolian beef and crab rangoons are excellent beginning alternatives. The meat is quite soft and juicy, and it has a ton of flavor. Another excellent choice is the vegetable lo mein; the noodles are always excellent and the veggies are fresh! This gives elevated "chinese food". It gets even better the best thing about eating here, which I do religiously at least once a month, is that they are budget friendly YES and they offer an all-you-can-eat option that's a fantastic way to try out different dishes from the menu, this gives you the opportunity to get your feet wet without fully committed which is perfect if you want to get out of your comfort zone! This location is within a 5-minute walk from the subway and the 6 line. One thing to keep in mind is that parking may require you to circle the block once or twice if you're driving, but as the neighbor is a residential area, there should be spaces available. The positive thing is you don't need reservations and the restaurant has a mellow ambiance, the staff is courteous and friendly. They offer a decent cocktail menu as well. I was looking for a sushi place on the east side of the Bronx and this one appeared. It started as an AYCE restaurant and it is no longer, I was curious to try it out. I went on a Sunday evening where it was packed by 8pm. Food:2.5/5 Let me get specific, I got the sashimi deluxe ( $25, rating 4/5) but, our appetizers and my meal was really disappointing. Firstly, I asked for the FJ Noodles and the server explained that they do not serve that dish, even though it is on the menu. I was like seriously?! Then, I ordered the 10 Piece Hot and Spicy Wontons appetizer to get a wonton dish covered in a sweet peanut butter sauce. Similar to the sauce served with Vietnamese summer rolls, not spicy at all. The takoyaki was clearly not fresh as its shape on the plate was that of a truffle (a round mold with a flat base) and instead of circular sphere. Finally the soup dumplings were meh (not very flavorful) and they served without black vinegar and ginger instead a side of sweet soy sauce. Finally, the udon soup was 75% veggies, 5% beef, and 20% udon. I was so disappointed I ended up eating a portion of my partner's food. Only going back for sushi. Service: 2/5 Honestly, this is place where you need to flag down a person to place your order. I was hoping the service button around the table worked but, clearly not as I waited for over 20 mins for the waiter to notice me. After the menu confused (talked about above), we slowly got our food and chugged our water glasses to distract from our hunger. We had to flag the waiter again to refill our waters and he didn't talk to us until was asked for the check. Not great, but maybe I expected too much. Shangerila is easily one of the best Asian fusion cuisines in the Bronx. My favorite entree is the General Tso shrimp. This jumbo shrimp dish is satisfying and filling. The batter and sauce is perfect; I thoroughly enjoy it every time. When I first tried this dish, it was super spicy (not to my liking). When I had it the next time with out the spice, it wowed me! Wow! Shangeri -La Restaurant in Pelham Bay has been remodeled. The transformation is stunning, inviting and the lighting makes the place feel intimate. The food taste fresh and delicious. However I had the flounder with cabbage in a warm broth this dish was alittle salty I could not finish it. I let the waiter know but I still had to paid for it. Discovered this hidden gem in the Bronx while exploring where I can get some tonkatsu ramen. I had one in a place near me and didn't even have pork like come on. Anyways this restaurant had an authentic tonkatsu ramen and it was delicious. I took it to go and it was well packed with all the utensils I needed. I also had Philadelphia roll taste the way it's supposed to. What amazed me about this restaurant is how large the menu is. I don't know who's cooking in the back But they must be very talented. First time ordering takeout from here and everything was better than expected! The reviews had me a little skeptical but I still wanted to try it & I was glad I did. Glad to say that our food came out pretty damn good. I had gotten the beef stir fried udon & the spicy salmon roll. The udon was pretty legit, the udon noodle itself had that chewy texture that I like and it came with a lot beef and one of my fav type of mushrooms. The salmon roll was not bad pretty basic but it's better than most places in the BX lol. The sushi rice was made just right and the salon was pretty fresh. He had ordered the dinner special chicken and broccoli and the dumplings. Both were pretty tasty as well. We couldn't really complain, everything was made in a timely manner and came piping hot, what more can you ask for?! Very sad to see the AYCE is no longer available. Especially because this was known in the neighborhood as a staple ayce sushi spot. First of all I have to say the food is good, this rate is more about the service, this was terrible, me and my husband came in before a long day and ordered appetizers which were seaweed salad and a soup and a large hot sake. Ordered delivery and that process was pretty smooth. They even allowed me to pay with CC over the phone as it wouldn't allow me to do so on their website. I ordered garlic sauce chicken, a Mongolian beef, & general tso lunch specials. I asked for all meals to be spicy as well. I'm pretty sure the order was wrong since I got two Mongolian beefs which none were spicy. I'm coming from Florida so I was expecting a mind blowing fried rice experience, instead it was ok, just not memorable. I order from here often...esp during the pandemic. I USED to live in the area and would dine in often. So I'm familiar with the food. It's always been absolutely delicious. When i found them on Uber eats, i was so excited!!  I have experienced some issues with the deliveries. Through trail and error I've learned what i can and can't order for delivery.  In my recent order i got a sesame shrimp bento box. All of the sauce from the shrimp went into the other compartments especially my California roll. It was swimming in warm sesame sauce. I couldn't eat the rolls. One other time, delivery was delayed and my shrimp tempura roll was soggy and not crunchy anymore. Now if i order delivery, i avoid those two items.  I have gotten the following menu items as well: Shrimp lo mein dinner (comes with pork fried rice). Orange Chicken.  General Tso Chicken. Beef and broccoli (not crazy about the brown sauce. Its very light).  Shrimp broccoli (same feeling about the brown sauce but the shrimp flavor makes it more delicious). Korean beef bento box. General Tso Shrimp Bento Box. California roll. Spider Roll. Soup dumplings (a must buy. Everytime). Scallions pancakes (dont bother. Too thick. Not crispy). Angel roll. Pan fried pork dumplings (too thick. Not great). Chicken noodle soup. My recommendation would be to pick up the food yourself, if you can... either way, im sure you'll be happy with your meal. They no longer have the all you can eat special which is the main reason why we came here but we decided to stay either way. Our mouths watered and it was just pretty awkward watching him eat as we wondered when the rest of the food was going to come out! Food Delicious, full of flavor and great portions! We didn't order drinks, we really just went for the food. I ordered their hot and spicy wonton, which was amazing! Would order again !! My friend went their mango roll which consisted of mango, salmon and avocado. As for our entrees, we went with their chicken pad thai, shrimp pad thai, kung pao chicken and general tso chicken (both came with a side order of rice).
