My friends and I agree that this is Riverdale, not A sushi hotspot desitation and we would rather sacrifice a point on the physical construction /proper sushi technique than go somewhere else that has beautiful perfectly rolled sushi- with less fresh fish or rolls that are more rice than filling. Also- the sushi IS good! I usually go for salmon, tuna and a sweet potato tempura roll The lunch specials (monday-saturday until 3:15 pm) are a really good deal and come with pretty good miso soup and a fresh side salad. I am appreciative that they run a little later in the day as well. Aoyu has always been very reasonable abt modifications- there is no upcharge for brown rice for lunch bento- easy to request veggie instead of pork gyoza, and I really don't like crab- imitation or otherwise- so they always let me sub a cucumber avocado roll instead. She claims he was demanding free food. I understand that she was busy. I get that people come in from the street and they can be a pain in the ass. I also acknowledge that she was a small Asian female and may have felt intimidated. But the interaction felt kind of racist, to be honest. It felt like she was very quick to dismiss him, show him the door. I get that this man was unlikely to become one of her better customers... granted. But I don't like the way he was treated, regardless. I would consider returning, but I hope they will consider how that treatment feels to another person.

They sent tofu teriyaki instead and the tofu reaked of stale frying oil. The rest of my bento box reflected totally poor quality food: broccoli past its prime, dumplings completely stuck together and mushy. The vegetarian sushi roll was ok as was the white rice. But you have to work pretty diligently to mess those up. Honestly, most of the Bento box went into the trash. My wife ate my vegetarian roll because I simply had no appetite left. Kiki assured me that their fresh was sourced from known sources, and though she didn't pressure me to try anything I wasn't ready for, I was later surprised to find that the raw salmon nigiri was probably my favorite among all the offerings. Attendees were able to watch two sushi chefs expertly prepare each and every offering, and it was a treat just to watch them work. The quantity is laughable and cry-able at the same time. Strike 4: Some of the roll pieces were tiny and empty in the bottom half. Buy one get half the sushi off the roll??? Strike 5: The special roll in the solo set was 3/5 egg and 2/5 bamboo (!?!), and only 1/5 fish. This wasn't the case for the first order here nor ever any other time in my life!
