Visited this restaurant on a Friday night and, for a while, we were the only customers. The service was quick and attentive, and the overall vibe was quiet and calm. The shumai appetizer was light and delicious. The sushi was a solid 7/10 - good quality with fairly standard flavors. The katsu don wasn't the typical bowl-style dish; it was served on a plate with plenty of teriyaki sauce, but it was still very enjoyable. The bill was affordable, which was a nice bonus. Would 100% come back! read more

Ordered the lunch special and it was very delicious. The rolls were made quickly for pickup. I was not able to dine in but when I went in to pick up up food the place looked very nice and put together. The miso soup was also very tasty. Would definitely order again and try to dine in. read more

I've been ordering food here for a while now. Mostly their sushi but the last two times I've ordered from the hibachi menu and it was great. The food is delicious, the hibachi portions are great! Lots of vegetables, nice portions of chicken and shrimp and it all tastes fresh. The service is quick. Quiet inside. Just take a look at your receipt they include the tip automatically when ordering online. read more

Wanted really good Asian food while recuperating from surgery in the Bronx. The BX is somewhat of a food desert, in terms of quality, and depending where you are... I did some research, and of course the Yelp was a lot of help. Thanks y'all!!!! My guy kept saying this was a great choice and it really was. We ordered a few dishes, including soup, which I very much needed. I was happy that the miso soup was not salty. We ordered the steak and shrimp hibachi, which was fantastic. We also ordered the chef's special chicken dish which was sooooo good. Everything was on pause and we were pretty much were speechless, except for the "Uuuummm, uuummm" LOL. This was an Uber eats delivery, but we plan on having a meal at Tomo when we are in the area. read more

Had a nice lunch here today. I was the first one in the door upon opening, and I appreciate their unlocking the doors on time 'cuz it's cold outside. Bathroom was my first visit. Nice and clean private set up. Once seated at a booth, the waitress wasted no time and got my drink order. The miso soup was a little weak for my taste but I still liked it. The sushi was great though... the yellowtail scallion roll has that really nice flavor I love, the salmon Avocado was fresh and thru gave nice portions of fish. The best was the Toro Sushi... so fresh. They have a full bar here. Nice place! read more

LITERAL PLASTIC. I was halfway through my meal and chewing a piece of beef negimaki. I kept chewing thinking I had just gotten a tough part of the meat. NOPE. Spat it out and saw it was a piece of plastic wrap. So appalled right now. read more

I was waiting for the pandemic to end so I could sit inside and give this place a proper review, but here we are 9 months later and we still can't dine in so why wait anymore. I could always update later. Literally just this year I tried sushi for the first time - not here. I've always heard nice things about this place, including the sushi, so once I decided I was going to like sushi, it only became natural that I finally come here. Yes, they have plenty of non-sushi items on the menu as well, but sushi was always the main event here. I've been ordering the same things every time (I'm still a sushi amateur) - the sushi deluxe (10 pieces of sushi & a California roll) and the sushi regular (8 pieces of sushi & 1 tuna roll) - both offer the same assortment and is very filling. Each come with a choice of miso soup or salad. They're generous with the chopsticks and napkins. The menu is very deep, so if you're a sushi fan you'd have more than enough to choose from. One day hopefully someone will teach me about the rest of the menu. Since the pandemic, it's only been take out (when that reopened), so perhaps one day if and when things return to normal we can see how the dining experience is. I've known some people who have and they always said everything was good. Staff has been friendly enough when I call to order and when picking up. Parking is metered, but after 7pm is free. I believe Sundays are free. Yonkers meters have that free 10 minute option if you're just picking up. All in all, a great sushi option and if you do like sushi, you really ought to try this place if you haven't already. Yes, I'm still relatively new to sushi, but this place has kept me liking it and hopefully one day I can try the rest of the menu. Recommended for all fans of sushi or Japanese cuisine. read more

Visited this sushi Japanese spot on McClean Avenue in Yonkers. The restaurant was clean, had a nice setup, and meter parking outside. The service was really good and so was food and sangria. We were both pleased with our vegetables, tempura, and shrimp orders. Will try again. read more

A gem! Quality and portions feel like a steal and just delicious and visually appealing. The space feels like you relaxing nice ambiance. The service is where it lacks, feels like they need more help waiting seems to be something you'll have to deal with. Recommend and will look forward to returning. read more

This is my go to spot for sushi. However always pick up because that delivery guy....I might catch a case with him. That's where they lose their first star. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. Their speciality rolls are good. Their hibachi is just okay in my opinion. The decor is where they lose their second star. The chairs are starting to peel. The decor is minimal. It's just a turn off. read more

Been here multiple times. Sushi is always fresh and affordable.Theyre always so generous with the amount they stuff into the handrolls (check it out in the picture) and price ranges $6-10 for them. Service is also great, servers are always so sweet and attentive. I got their hot green tea and they're ALWAYS coming around to refill it. Parking is annoying since it's all meter but that's just Yonkers. Definitely one of the best sushi places in Westchester. read more

Food is always great. Service is friendly and attentive. I visit with friends from work weekly. We always leave happy.

I use to love this place until today. I made and order for delivery and when I received that order i didn't have the proper items for the order and my Kani salad was mostly cucumber. I called to rectify only to have the lady there start screaming at me that someone else has to jump on the phone. Saying it was placed in the bag. Unfortunately why would I lie about getting my items was so turned off by the customer service and lack of empathy i just told to say never again. read more

Rude delivery man. I tipped him and he said " That's it ?". I've worked in the restaurant business for years and I know that tip isn't mandatory but obviously highly recommended and appreciated . However , some people don't tip delivery people at all so him saying " that's it " is uncalled for and rude . I'm sure he does this to other people as well. read more

Great food here. Clean and cool. Friendly staffs. Pay for parking but HEY ITS NY hahah

One of my all time favorite restaurants. The food is always SO good and fresh. I'll always recommend it.

Had another great meal at Tomo tonight. A nice turn of events, considering our earlier attempt at dinner. Godzilla Roll was great. Wish they used real crab meat instead of imitation but because it's fried, it doesn't do any harm. I love that they have a brown rice option for your maki. Don't be alarmed by the deep color of the brown rice. It still a nice alternative to white and tastes just as good. They offer a nice variety of sakes and hubby and I always love to pop in for an impromptu meal. Doesn't hurt that they're not too far from the homestead but on the weekends, make a reservation because they get PACKED and the front area is too small for all the people they usually have waiting in the wings for a table. After having such terrible experiences at my former favorite sushi spot, East Harbor, I was elated to have been told to try Tomo. It has become a staple for Japanese cuisine in the area for my family. read more

I got a food delivery yesterday by Ubereats. So I wouldn't skip to talk about delivery. I ordered vegetable tempura and roasted duck fried rice. I was a bit upset because the potion was not worst the price at all. They gave you 5 - 7 pcs of Vegetable for $8 tempura and shedded roasted duck in fried rice for $15!!! I gave them 3 stars because food was taste good enough to earn it. read more

Really great sushi rolls! The lunch specials are fabulous! I highly recommend. Our go to for take out.

Perfect sushi! I ordered the sweet potato roll, Inari, and some spring rolls. 3/3 on each! The sushi was tasty, the spring rolls were crispy, and the Inari packets were perfect. Also received a side salad with my sushi, which paired perfectly with the rice and yams. Also the dressing/sauce that came with the salad was a better dipping sauce than say the soy or duck. Will come again when I'm craving sushi, so incredibly happy that this hit the spot! Thanks and God bless :^) read more

They are very disrespectful. I placed an order and paid online and the guy started yelling from the car after I came down and picked up the food that he wanted a tip. Then the restaurant proceeded to call my phone and say I have to tip and if not do not order anymore. read more

If you want perfectly fine sushi in the Yonkers/Woodlawn area, hit up Tomo for a relatively inexpensive good meal. The specials are a great value and the sushi is pretty decent. I would stay away from their Chinese-style entrees, though. The sesame chicken I had was extremely sugary and saucy as opposed to crispy and savory. I will say that their delivery is lightning-fast and it's always a good Sunday night last minute dinner plan! read more

This place has great lunch specials!! Got their teriyaki chicken box that came with fried shumai, white rice and for an extra 2 bucks they gave me an avocado cucumber roll. Also with my meal came miso soup, salad. I would say for the price alone this place is worth a visit. I felt so full after eating my meal, the chicken was super tasty and not salty like other places, the rice was also good and the shumai was great. Server was very polite and super attentive, definitely recommend! read more

I've lived in this neighborhood for most of my life and I can honestly say that it's difficult to find a nice restaurant to sit down in for a nice meal. But Tomo was a pleasant surprise. It's like having a Manhattan sushi bar right next door. The decor is colorful with dim lighting and the staff is friendly and attentive. Pros: Warm hand towel before your meal Great menu with plenty of interesting options Shrimp tempura roll and spicy tuna rolls were among the best I've ever had Cons: Ademame starter was a little too heavy on the salt but still good Octopus sashimi was tough and chewy Cucumber and yellowtail rolls were straight-forward and unfortunately a little boring (cucumber, rice and nori: That's it? Yawn.) Rolls weren't well wrapped and kept falling apart. Kind of annoying. I'm curious to see what this place is like at night. It definitely looks like a nice local place to grab a drink and socialize, so I'll be back! And best of all, the meal was very reasonably priced. read more

I was introduced to this place by my girlfriend on a last minute Friday dinner. Food was excellent and tasted fresh. Decor is really nice and modern. Place is clean and service was excellent. Four stars (4) because when we arrived we were seated in a table that was dirty and it took them a few minutes to clean. Not sure if they were short in staff that night, or was a lack of detail. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. This won't stop us from coming back. Sushi presentation was on point. Ok bye bye now... read more

Tomo Sushi - Grill - Spicy Tuna, Yonkers and Manhattan Sushi. #musttry - Sushi Bars Near Me - Yonkers, New York

I actually was a believer in the sushi here at Tomo Grille. The reason why I like it is because they put little rice and lots of fish. And usually the fish is fresh, but all it takes is one time to convince me that they are...mediocre. Today I ordered rolls: the spicy tuna roll, the spicy salmon roll and the tempura roll. The spicy tuna and tempura roll were good. The tuna was borderline though, but still edible. The salmon though was NOT EDIBLE AT ALL. It smelled so bad and had a strong fishy taste, which tells me the restaurant is scrimping on freshness. I believe restaurants deserve a chance to correct their mistakes (in fact, it shows great character as customer service when a restaurant admits fault and rectifies it). Today they didn't take that chance. I called, not looking for anything back (although I should've asked for my money back) but just to let them know their salmon wasn't fresh today. The lady on the phone snapped at me and said, "Ok, noted, bye!" Then hangs up on me. This only means she didn't really care what happened to my order. Be careful w this place. Sushi should be fresh. Theirs isn't. read more

I tried this place out because I saw it had four stars and it's nowhere near four stars in my opinion. I sat at the bar. I ordered miso soup which had a weird aftertaste. I ordered Philadelphia rolls and that had a weird taste as well. I then ordered shrimp and chicken hibachi, that comes with fried rice and mixed veggies. The fried rice was bland and not good. My chicken and shrimp had a odd amount of pepper on it and was very soggy and mushy... I don't get it like it wasn't cooked how I'm used to having a Hibachi. Every time my water was empty I had flag and ask. Staff was not that attentive. Overall first impression not impressed at all. But I do like the decor hip and chic. read more

Ordered Tomo a few months back on a whim. It was close to the house and offered delivery. I didn't expect much and now I understand why people tend to state "you never know what you're missing out on if you don't try it." No meaningful words were ever spoken about a sushi delivery place. They've been my constant go-to ever since. Most nights I suggest sushi for dinner, which doesn't always work out in my favor. However, now that they've reopened again I'm on track to becoming a human spicy tuna crunch roll. read more

Ordered from there website, paid through the website. Food came fast it was a party platter. I thought I had more money for tip but I didn't only had a few singles, I apologized to driver guy and promised him I would tip better but it was all I had, delivery guy got mad and wanted more money. I politely told him I didn't have more money. He told me I placed $60 order I should have cash. I told him I miscalculated and thought I had more money and I apologized. He demanded I call restaurant to put tip on credit card, I called to do so but lady said I paid on website so I couldn't modify it. I tell him I could tip through credit card. Delivery guy started yelling and called the restaurant speaking in yelling in Mandarin on the phone. He was blocking the door so I told him to step back because he's blocking the door. I closed the door and thought I was over but it wasn't. He starts bagging on the door yelling hello hello. I open he demanded tip of the few dollars while speaking mandarían. I gave it to him and left. This whole event was like 20 minutes of him standing in the hallway yelling. I called the restaurant explain what happened and she said he's very friendly he doesn't yell. I'm like he was loud like yelling upset loud. Lady on the phone was like he wasn't loud he's not like that. I'm like wtf Never ordering from there again read more
