My Bento box
Amy P.

I had another wonderful dinner here. I ordered a mai tai to start, which was really fruity, coconuty, and strong! Just perfect. My friend ordered different pieces of sushi, and I ordered the chicken teriyaki Bento box. We both started off with salads that had nice cold crisp lettuce and fresh ginger soy dressing. It was a perfect start. My chicken teriyaki was extremely tender, and I loved the California rolls and shumai that was served with it. All the food was delicious and the vegetables were crisp. My friend thoroughly enjoyed all of her sushi, which looked extremely fresh and fabulous. Service was very good, everyone was very friendly and nice. It was a wonderful meal.

Spicy Crunch Tuna Roll and Eel Avocado Roll

Mamaroneck never disappoints with their amazing one of a kind restaurants and Zenzo Sushi yet another great restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately and was able to pace our order quickly. Due to it being lunch time, we ordered the Sashimi Platter and a Maki roll of eel avocado and spicy tuna. The lunch specials came with the choice of soup or salad and they had a variety of drinks as well as a bar. The food was elegantly presented and the flavor of the food was as fresh as can be. Do to the restaurant not being too crowded, they allowed us to sit and socialize with no interruptions, which we really appreciated. The staff all wore mask and took all safety precautions. Bathrooms were separated by male and female and had a good number of stalls. The restaurant itself is very spacious and the decor is casual modern chic. As for parking, there is only street meter parking in the main street unless you want to park on a residential street and walk downtown.

My online order total that DOUBLED when I went to actually pick up my food!

I ordered sushi from Zenzo last night for the third time since being in Mamaroneck and was absolutely shocked in the worst of ways. I placed an online order and was given a total of $46 and change. Upon picking up my food, the total was $83. They apparently have offers on their website that they refused to honor in store. This is absolute fraud and I am disgusted by their business practices. And for mediocre sushi at best. Save the stress and go to Red Plum right across the street where you will find quality products and customer service. Zenzo is an absolute sham.

Ordered take-out and it was a great experience; I may come back to dine-in. I got the lunch special 3-roll combo. To my surprise, it came with two pieces of shumai, a spring roll, and a soup! Everything tasted wonderful. The only thing I would say is the spicy-crunch salmon roll could have had more spice. (it was pretty bland)

California, spicy girl, great Mamaroneck, crazy Friday

Looking around for a new sushi restaurant around the area, we ended up at Zenzo. Started with some Mai Thais (good) and lychee martinis (too sweet), both could have been better if added a bit more liquor. Moving on to the food, we ordered pork ygoza as an appetizer, and some Friday night, great Mamaroneck, California, shrimp tempura (favorite) and spicy girl rolls. Everything tasted delicious, will def come back. In the event you want to do take out, they offer a 15% discount.

Salad that accompanied my lunch special

Located on the always busy Mamaroneck Avenue, Zenzo is one of a few sushi/Japanese/Asian restaurants in the area. The biggest pluses from my recent visit were the timeliness and friendliness of the waitstaff. I had multiple staff members check on me and each of them were very nice and approached with a smile. At departure, too, they made it a point to wish me a good day. The lunch specials are decently priced and you can choose from several dishes or roll combinations. Main/regular menu has no shortage of options. The beef w. broccoli I most recently ordered was accompanied by a generous bowl of steamed rice and was preceded by a salad (you can opt for soup if you wish), as well as a fried spring roll cut in half, plus 2 shumai. All in all, the food was okay - nothing bad or great about it. The decor is nice (a bit dark, which didn't bother me) and there is plenty of seating available for groups of various sizes. Metered parking out front.

BAM! POW! ZAP!~~~[Peppered Seared Tuna W/ Wasabi Cream]

Our favorite Sushi spot in Hartsdale is terrific, but The Man primarily likes coming here for their Steak Short Ribs appetizer- (they actually look good and raves about the taste). Greeting has always been cordial and brisk. Off-whiteish almost fabric/almost vinyl seats and cushions, dark wood tables and the expected pop of neon lighting- here and there. I actually noticed this time around, Zenzo's noticeable wall, with tons of small, wooden boxes and black Chinese characters on them. I mean, I knew that much that they were Chinese characters and not Japanese or Korean- but I was curious and asked our server the meaning behind them and said that they're actually Last Names. Ok. We were later told, Zenzo's owner is Chinese and most of the employees also. Any...how...our waitress respectfully asked if we wanted cocktails- The Man went for a Double Rum & Coke I skipped the cocktails, because I wasn't in the mood. When I told our waitress that I didn't want a cocktail, she just brushed off in the quickness with no acknowledgement. Ok. My Seared Pepper Tuna was fantastic and with my request, I asked for it to be light on the Wasabi Cream- Excellent!!! According to my husband, his Steak Tips were great- as always. He then placed an order for Salmon, Spider & Rainbow Rolls- while I went for the Crispy Scallop Roll. All were good and neatly presented, but noticed, how loose they were. Service was ok. Between trying to decide what Roll I wanted to order and our waitress not taking it upon herself to even say, "you know what? I'll give you a few more minutes to decide"- I almost felt rushed. Maybe it was the quiet Friday night in Mamaroneck, but our waitress kept staring at me. Don't you need to sort some water glasses? Or fold napkins? Come on... why the stare? I don't know. Nothing really horrible. But experienced Zenzo several times in the past, and I think it's almost time to part.

Small Kani Salad
Tina C.

I got takeout from here and did not love it. The Kani salad was extremely small and taste was ok. I got pad Thai with chicken, the chicken texture was off, it was not chunks of small chicken, instead it was strips of tofu looking chicken. Sushi tasted good. The fried rice was too sticky to eat and the spring wrongs was soggy.

I have always wanted to try this place. I had meeting in this area so I stoped for quick lunch, I don't know if they do lunch special but I ordered from menu as apt Yellotail Jalapeno, Toro Suahi and 2 eel avocado hand rolls With Toro inside. The restaurant seems quite may be the lunch time is over (2:30 PM) so I was easily seated near by window and server started taking my order. Toro was good but not the best, the owner is so friendly and nice. Very knowledgeable about the business. The service is good here too. They have buy 1 get 1 free beer which is good. They said can not wait to open patio for outdoor customers, nice ambiance and well set up menus". I will be back here sure.

At first, I was a little concerned because the place was crowded, but they seated us right away and we didn't have reservations. They took our order almost immediately and we did not wait long for our food, which was delicious. We started with Pork Gyoza and Vietnamese Shrimp Summer Roll. For the entrees I had the Sashimi Deluxe, and the fish was very fresh. My wife had General Tso's Chicken and the chicken was extremely tender and flavorful. The decor was lovely and noise level was moderate considering they also do full blown hibachi. But I really wanna shout out the entire staff. Every single person seemed to go out of their way to be friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend and would come back again.

Mama Love got the fried snapper, lil bro absolutely annihilated his eggplant dish. Plates was getting cleaned like rent was due. I really can't say enough good things about Red Plum. Service was good ,t's usually AMAZING, but I get it, it was Mother's Day and they was getting smoked. Still, the ambiance and vibes were stellar. Real cozy, real cool, low lighting, good energy... the type of spot you pull up to for a date, family dinner, or to fake having your life together for two hours.

I explained that I was there to pick up my own order, but was then told they don't do takeout and was directed next door to collect my "pickup order." After leaving confused, I called the restaurant to find out where my food actually was. Only then was I told to come back because my order had been there the entire time. The entire process was disorganized, unprofessional, and completely avoidable. What made the experience especially upsetting was that I was treated as though I didn't belong there from the moment I walked in. It felt like I was being stereotyped based on my appearance, and I left feeling embarrassed and disrespected. Whether intentional or not, that's how the interaction came across, and it ruined the experience before I even received my food. As for the food, the uni tasted old and lacked freshness. The scallops were mediocre at best--I'd rate them a C. The sashimi assortment was the only highlight, as it was fresh and flavorful. I had originally hoped to return for the dine-in experience, but after the way I was treated, I have absolutely no interest in ever coming back. No meal is worth being made to feel unwelcome. There are too many restaurants that value their customers and know how to treat people with basic respect.

As soon as we sat down our waitress came to take our order and the food came out quickly. I would suggest they hire more help because our waitress was scarce. She was working too many tables. Apparently they have another room around the corner for large crowds to watch the soccer tournaments so she was working that room and the main room too so it took a long time for her to come back around to us. In fact, I had to go upfront to ask the owner to melt the cheese on my Cuban sandwich cause it took her too long to come back. Also, when I asked for mustard for my Cuban sandwich because I couldn't taste the mustard she told me without going into the kitchen to find out if they have mustard that the restaurant doesn't have mustard. When I told my granddaughter to show her from the menu that mustard comes the Cuban sandwich she looked stupid and retreated to the kitchen and came back with a small cup of Dijon mustard. The Caribbean rice was trash. They should take it off the menu. The fries were awesome. The skirt steak was okay. The waffles and chicken were decent. The pork dumplings were tasty. The chicken empanadas were good but I've had better at The Cuban Inn in Tarrytown. The panini Cuban sandwich was not good even with the missing mustard I got from the kitchen. I would not order it again. I would go back but would try something different next time before writing them off altogether.

The soup dumplings were definitely the highlight. They make the dumplings right in the restaurant and you can watch them being made. The dumplings were flavorful and full of soup, and my son especially loved them. Six dumplings ended up being a good amount for us. The vinegar came in a dropper which seems ingenious - much easier than dipping. The chicken and broccoli was also very tasty. The chicken was soft and nicely velveted, and the portions were generous. The mapo tofu was okay -- a little saltier than expected -- but still good when eaten with the rice. The brown rice itself was slightly on the hard side. Service was very good. Our server, a young man, was attentive without being overbearing, which we appreciated. One thing to note: parking can be tricky since it's all street parking and there are a lot of nearby shops.
