At first, I was a little concerned because the place was crowded, but they seated us right away and we didn't have reservations. They took our order almost immediately and we did not wait long for our food, which was delicious. We started with Pork Gyoza and Vietnamese Shrimp Summer Roll. For the entrees I had the Sashimi Deluxe, and the fish was very fresh. My wife had General Tso's Chicken and the chicken was extremely tender and flavorful. The decor was lovely and noise level was moderate considering they also do full blown hibachi. But I really wanna shout out the entire staff. Took my mother here for Mother's Day and boyyyyy I wish it was Groundhog Day so I could eat this meal over and over and over again. This was an extremely disappointing experience. I've ordered takeout from this restaurant before, but this was my first time dining in, will likely be my last visit. From the moment I sat down, I felt unwelcome. The waitress approached my table without a greeting, without a smile, and without any basic warmth. When I politely asked whether the lunch bento boxes were still available, she rolled her eyes, didn't even look at me, and simply said, "Lunch is over." I responded, "Okay, I'll have the dinner bento box then," and she immediately walked away. Later, when I asked for a ginger ale, instead of a simple "Sure" or any acknowledgment, she responded with a dismissive "Mm-hmm." Throughout the meal, every interaction felt cold and uncomfortable. Whenever I needed something and called her over, she would approach with an attitude that felt dismissive and impatient, never smiling or showing the most basic level of hospitality. What made the experience even more upsetting was noticing how differently she interacted with other customers. I observed her smiling, chatting, and being noticeably friendlier with several non-Asian customers. As an Asian customer myself, it left me wondering whether I was being treated differently. I can't say for certain, but the contrast was difficult to ignore and made me feel even more uncomfortable. Honestly, I considered getting up and leaving after ordering because the atmosphere felt so unpleasant. The only reason I stayed was because I didn't want to be rude after placing my order. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the experience. It was average at best, and there are plenty of other sushi restaurants offering similar or better food with much better service. The final impression was the worst part. After paying and leaving, I wasn't thanked for my business. I was simply ignored. Dining out is about more than food. If I'm spending my money, I expect at least a basic level of courtesy and respect. I came here with my gf after an evening at spin class. I had the shakes and needed some food in my system. She suggested that we come here for dinner. I found parking around the corner but for a Thursday night, street parking spots were slim to none. The hostess sat us immediately. They were pretty busy and we didn't realize that it was close to closing. We ordered our food and soon after, our server went MIA. I told her that I wanted to also order some take out and she said she should be right back, that I would have to order withing 10 minutes, but she never returned. My dining companion saw her eating in the back with another employee. There was another server that was supposed to take over for our server, I'm guessing. She seemed to try to avoid our table at all costs. If I caught eye contact, she seemed to go in a different direction. She was abrasive and acted as though she was upset she had to handle our table as well. Carlos, a busser, was very observant. He noticed that we were having difficulty getting service to come to our table. He was very attentive and would stop by to make sure we had everything we needed. We asked him for some things but did not want to inundate him, as it was not his job. Eventually, the server stopped by our table and took my takeout order. Trying to pay the bill and getting containers for leftovers took some time as well. Carlos retrieved some containers for us and manager stopped by our table to handle our bill. I definitely won't come here when it's busy. They're not super expensive but it's not worth sitting someplace where the person tending to your table is acting like they don't want to be there, and that you're an inconvenience. The food was great. We shared the duck rolls and sashimi pizza. The rolls were tortillas, Stuffed with duck and veggies. It was served with a hkisin honey mustard sauce. The sashimi pizza looked so small when I first received it but it's got a ton of flavor. It was also on a tortilla, topped wtih tuna, salmon, white tuna, avocado and a sauce with tobiko. It was amazing and they used a torch on something because you could taste the smoky flavor. I opted for a couple rolls. I had a salmon skin hand roll which was good, and a fantastic roll, with tuna yellowtail, salmon, avocado, cucke, tobiko and scallion in a special seaweed roll. It tasted so good! My friend had the General Tso's chicken with brown rice. It came with a choice of soup or salde and she opted for the latter. It was a large portion and she had leftovers. I brought home chicken teriyaki for hubbs and that was also a large serving, and my son had their red curry with duck. Both dishes came with choice of soup or salad, and I got them both miso soup. Everything was packaged with car and made it home without issue. I'd probably only ever get takeout from them, if I'd drive that far. read more

Red Plum is still rocking after all these years in the village! I was happy to see it thriving and seats all filled outside and inside. Running around and really got enticed by the crowded outdoor seating so we stopped in for some lunch. Salmon and Beef Negimaki Bento boxes. Things that stood out were that they didn't break up the kani stick for the California roll (most places now halved them for lunch specials), they still serve 3 shumais (many places had lowered count to two), the teriyaki was very flavorful and the proteins were both cooked to perfection--so tender. The Ginger dressing is not the best I've ever had and the service is a bit dry/quick. It makes sense for a busy place but I didn't mind everything that we ordered. read more

I am not a sushi person so when I come here I try to order something different off the menu. This time I got the sesame chicken. It came in a sort of shell, which was very interesting and made it more unique. The chicken was overall very good. It wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping, but the entrée did come with a soup or salad and white rice or brown rice which I like. The atmosphere is very chill here and a really good date night spot. The real issue is their Hibachi should be avoided: - $7 for each fried rice, and they barely add anything (egg/veggies/sauce) to it -No option to upgrade from regular rice to fried rice like other restaurants. Both or nothing - Sever was rude and we all had to individually request dipping sauce rather than it being served to everyone by default. The food was mediocre. - The chef was clearly a part-timer as his showmanship was lackluster and he didn't even ask how we wanted the steak cooked. - The hot sake was cheap crap warmed up in a microwave. I wasn't expecting it to be the greatest since their hibachi tables are only open half of the week, but it was easily in the top 3 worst hibachi dinners I've ever had. read more

I had a very nice lunch there. We sat outside, and I started off with a mai tai. For lunch, I ordered the basil chicken dish with a salad. My girlfriend ordered steamed chicken with broccoli with garlic sauce on the side. My mai tai was great, very flavorful. The food came out and it looked stunning, adorned with fresh flowers. The basil chicken was excellent, and the salad was cold and crisp with a wonderful ginger dressing. My friend loved her steamed chicken dish, especially since she could add the sauce that she desired. Service was excellent, our waitress was very friendly and nice. I feel like every time they come to this place they never disappoint. It is a fun night out with an Asian fusion vibe. Dim lit beautiful decor. Definitely an upscale vibe with good prices. We had a variation of meals with mine being the red curry. The menu states that it's spicy but for me being Indian it's definitely not. But I also think even if not Indian this isn't a very spicy dish. Granted, it's still delicious. The portion of my red curry was huge definitely enough to share for two people. Not enough rice comes with the curry so I would suggest ordering another side but you'll definitely have enough to take home. Love this place!! So mom always turned her nose up to sushi. It's the weirdest thing as she a global traveler. Well on this chilly afternoon as the sun peeked out from behind the clouds, mom decided to be adventurous ! Must be that Mai Tai! From the lunch menu I had 3 rolls- crunchy tuna, salmon/ avo & shrimp something. After careful inspection and asking questions like a 5 year old she agreed to try the shrimp cause mom knows shrimp She liked it ! mmmm she said! Lol This is the part where I mention that she didn't know how to use chopsticks ( don't judge) so I got her the kids version of it was funny to see but it's all about baby steps. From the beginning I realized this would not be a fine dining experience. The sushi was warm, the soy sauce was vapid. The 1 star review was already underway. I then ordered sashimi ($12), to which they brought out eel ($30). When I let them know the mistake, I was schooled on the properties of sashimi and told that the eel was sashimi. Naive, young, and as someone who does not know the properties of sashimi, I believed them. Later, I was charged for the eel... Fuming, I told them again about their mistake, but they rudely explained to me that the eel was what I ate and I therefore had to pay for it regardless. After some commotion, they took the eel of the tab but still charged me for the sashimi (which I never got). Red Plum: we could have had something great. I will not be returning and I will not be recommending this place to others, but will be telling them about Ginban.
