Like most cigar shops, this shop is filled with mostly friendly guys who will be happy to talk to a total stranger. The walk in humidor has a decent assortment of cigars but more importantly to me (and this IS my review), the brand that I prefer to smoke. Comfortable chairs and a large lounge towards the back, which I did not use. I chose to sit in the "bar" room. Perhaps the back room is less smoky, I don't know. I'd write more but I have to do my laundry and wash the smell out of my clothes. ;-/. read more

I've been to a lot of cigar lounges over the years, and Doc James stacks up with the best of the best. Josh greets you immediately and is as hospitable as anyone in the business. The humidor is extremely well stocked with selections from almost all brands imaginable (including full lines of Tatuaje, Roma Craft, and Drew Estate, which is a huge draw). The prices are good, but not amazing (NY tobacco tax is pretty insane). There is a membership available, but you can easily just come, grab a cigar, and enjoy the extensive lounge. There's no gimmicky day membership required, which I really love. There aren't any outside cigars allowed (so no cutting fee). It's $20 to bring in a bottle of liquor, or $10 per 6 pack (but they supply glasses and ice). They have water, coffee, and soda, which are all $2. The lounge is awesome; there are plenty of TV's, super comfy leather chairs, and an outside section that is gorgeous. The decor is great, and there's soft jazz playing in the background (but not so loud it's annoying). This is a world class cigar lounge, and it's worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

Anybody can open a cigar lounge, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be many great ones in Westchester County and that shocked me until I discovered this hidden gem in the heart of Mamaroneck. All of the staff are very welcoming, and the owner Josh is very knowledgeable and is always willing to make a suggestion based on my preference however it would be nice if some of the staff knew a thing or two about cigars. The selection is good for the size of the humidor which is humidified just right and the prices are what you would expect in a retail shop. I like that the several ares to sit down and enjoy a smoke are open to non-members and the outdoor area is great during the warmer seasons. read more

Excellent and comfortable lounge with comfortable chairs, great ventilation and big screens. They also provide fantastic perks like coffee and bottles of water. And unlike most lounges in the area, you don't need a membership to enjoy your smoke in the lounge. My go-to spot for buying and enjoying cigars. read more

Everything about this lounge is top notch. They occupy what seems to be an old cottage/house, and as such the place feels very cozy. The main lounge area has 15 or so plush leather chairs, with multiple surfaces/ash trays to make placing a drink or your cigar highly convenient, and multiple flat screen TVs. There is an additional room/loft upstairs with another 8 or so seats, an 8 foot pool table, cards, poker chips, games etc. Arguably the best part of Doc James is the outside area. With multiple seating areas (totaling another 15 seats or so) and 2 additional flat screens, it's an absolute pleasure to enjoy a cigar out there. The staff is very friendly/knowledgeable/accessible, and is always cleaning ash trays, and offering beverages (soft drinks and espresso/coffee are available, and alcohol is BYO). As for the humidor, it is perfectly humidified, and well stocked. They have cigars for every budget starting around $4 and going up to the super premium lines that you would expect at a high end establishment. I have friends that make the trip up from NYC to enjoy this lounge. There is literally nothing that I would change about this place, and I have no qualms about giving them a 5 star review. read more

This is a very nice cigar store/lounge in Westchester. It's very clean, has a great selection of cigars, and there is plenty of seating.The only negative is the prices. I know the store is located in a wealthy area but the prices are very high. DJCL is roughly 10-15% higher than others in Westchester or LI. If not for the prices, I would have easily given them 4 if not 5 stars. read more
