Fujinoya is a rather small Japanese restaurant in Hartsdale…read more They have sushi bar which is small but their sushi was great in quality. Dining room has about 10 small tables so packed on Saturday night with waiting line to outside. We had Izakaya kind of menu choice this time and they were true Japanese taste and I can easily feel this place own by true Japanese owners. They had good deal drink special and a jockey of draft with an appetizer $8, we took that of course. Great fish and meat appetizers menus here. Ramens at the end of dinner we call "Shime", were ramen and they have a few different kind and our two kinds were good. It's important for us that ramen noodle not over cooked and hot soup, they didn't fail on that point as well. They had a few other good Shime foods on the menu, too. Two of us ate and drunk pretty much and the bill came $140, that is reasonable for the amount and quality of food and great services. I'd better come here more often and should try their lunch as well.

The sushi/sashimi quality was just ok, not top tier. In the past the sushi texture was very good. Bento box was a big disappointment. A 4 piece sushi roll and 3 pieces of sashimi were the "meal" portion my husband selected for his box. In the box was a small amount of seaweed salad, tossed Japanese salad, a piece of rolled cabbage that wasn't edible, and potato salad. Cup of miso was served separately. I have never seen potato salad served in a bento box and I've eaten a lot of bento boxes. No spring rolls or shumai or gyoza which is usually included in a bento box. (see photo)

A pretty lackluster showing for Japanese food in Westchester…read more Sushi is in the name, and it was.. whelming. Passable but don't expect anything amazing. Maybe the rice wasn't seasoned enough? Can't speak for the nontraditional rolls. We got kitsune udon, and this was not kitsune udon. Normally the broth is dashi; this was like drinking a bowl of sesame. Also there were broccoli and carrots and pieces of abura-age, definitely different from the usual. The chicken katsu was weird, too - I'm pretty sure it wasn't actually using panko, but something closer to register breadcrumbs. Definitely better places in the area.

The food comes to your table as it ready and I don't think you can really go wrong with anything on the menu. Each dish and bite was better one after the other! For 2, we had the following: 2 hand rolls, 4 sashimi, 1 crispy rice and 3 robota. This was just enough. We maybe could have done one more thing but overall we were really satisfied. The hand rolls are delectable. Super fresh and packed with all the tasty goodness as you make your way through the roll. They also have a wide selection of sashimi, all of which were amazing and carefully articulated with the most flavor packed garnishments. For the robota we went with the chef selection. The steak was so tender you could break it apart with chop sticks. The chicken was also delicious and packed with flavor. When I go back, im just diving into the chefs special in all of the sections, it's really the way to go! Highly recommend for some great Asian eats in Rye!

Parking is paid meters for the plaza. We weren't too hungry so only got one appetizer and two entrees. Our server was very nice, service was efficient and nothing to complain about. The restaurant was big and plenty of open spots without a reservation. Our food was ok, sort of what you would expect for an asian fusion place in the middle of a predominantly caucasian town. I think most people in the town would probably have enjoyed this more than we did. Sushi was good, fresh and lots of varieties. Overall we thought it was good with everything taken together, ambiance more so than the food. Appreciate the service though!

The servers are also very kind and inviting. The place is very authentic Japanese inside. To the right, beautiful tatami-like wooden booths, and to the left regular booths, and tables in the middle. It is smaller than most restaurants, but very well spaced and decorated with a lot of creativity, but not overdone. I love this place, and if you love sushi this is the place to go! :-)

Parking is street parking but it was plentiful on a Wednesday night. The menu had option's; cartel Ones, Brothers de Sashimi , Sushi Maki Roll, teriyaki , bento boxes . We started with edamame . Dave ordered 2 rolls . I ordered a bento box and white tuna sashimi in the side.., I was a tad underwhelmed when they didn't have toro or uni which was on the menu. My frown was turned upside down when I tried my bento box with fish katzu and sashimi with 3 fried rice upgrade ; everything on that plate was delicious ; from the shumai to the sashimi the rice just scrumptious. The waitress was awesome attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We are planning our return so many options a little time.

Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10…read more Ambiance : 9/10 I've been here several times for their regular sushi rolls and appetizers, and they've never disappointed. This review, though, is all about their omakase experience. As always, the service was exceptional. The owner and staff are incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely make you feel like a valued guest. The only reason this wasn't a perfect 10/10 had nothing to do with the restaurant. It's a small, intimate space, and unfortunately another table had a baby who cried throughout much of the meal. Not the restaurant's fault at all, but it's something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quiet omakase experience. Now for the food, the omakase was fantastic. I won't go through every course because part of the fun is the surprise, but what really stood out was the fish-to-rice ratio. Every piece was generously topped with beautifully fresh fish instead of being overloaded with rice, which I absolutely loved. Each bite was thoughtfully prepared, incredibly fresh, and full of flavor. Dessert was another pleasant surprise. Instead of the usual ending you get at many sushi restaurants, they served matcha ice cream topped with sweet red bean paste and pieces of mochi. It was unique, refreshing, and the perfect finish to the meal. Overall, I'll definitely continue coming back, not just for the omakase, but for their regular menu as well. If you're an omakase fan or looking for a quality sushi experience without breaking the bank, this place is absolutely worth a visit.

Pay attention to the 5 star reviews. Those are legit. We go in person because they often give us complimentary appetizers, which have included blue fin, king salmon and others in creative and delicious arrangements. Our favorite menu items include: sushi deluxe, tricolor sushi, heat roll. However, the sashimi is the best part- fatty tuna, yellowtail and salmon are the best. And they've converted me on fluke and kingfish.
