The best sushi foie gras I've had in a very long time no wonder they were voted best sushi 2025 ; I've been trying to get here for a while and I was out voted or something came up what a mistake to have waited so long to try this amazing sushi and sashimi. I'll say it's tight quarters and I totally heard the first date conversations of the couple next to us (and if they bake to second date she's settling by the way ) the staff is quick but not overtly attentive they know they've got a gold mind , for example they won't acknowledge you as you walk in ...way to busy and they took my empty glass away never offering a refill. Sushi Mike's has the freshest sushi in all of Westchester. My cousin first introduced me to this restaurant almost 6 years ago, and I've been coming here and ordering ever since. The staff is extremely polite, and they don't hover over you but check in periodically to make sure everything is okay, so thumbs up for service. Ambiance is very chill. Definitely a great hangout spot for amazing sushi. Takeout is also great and the fish retains their freshness. I usually get the sushi deluxe set and order a few other pieces of nigiri a la carte. I ordered delivery from here. For an appetizer, I got edamame. They were having a buy one, get one free deal so I got a second one for free. It was a perfect portion size and tasted good, but nothing too notable about it. Sometimes edamame is served with a heavy dose of salt on top but this didn't have much, which I appreciated. I also got avocado and sweet potato rolls. The sweet potato came with extra tempura on top which was a nice touch, though the fried dough could have been a little crunchier. The rolls were tasty. A good size, but not overly stuffed. I specifically chose this place because they have a side of spicy mayo on their menu. This is what takes vegetarian rolls from good to great and I didn't want to risk asking for it in the notes of my order and the restaurant forgetting to include it. Their spicy mayo had a stronger kick than most places so I really enjoyed it. However, they charged $3 for just a side of this sauce, which I felt was way too high. Recently move into the village of Dobbs Ferry and wanted to try sushi with my family, so we decided to go to Sushi Mike's, on Main Street, it look decent from the outside. not mind blowing but ok. Anyway after we got in and were seated our nightmare began, WOW......! Where to start, first of all the waitress was so rude, disrespectful and had an attitude totally uncalled for. When we order drinks, we were served in broken glasses, ( 2 to be exact ) we requested replacement, we did not receive an apology rather an answer stating they will provide another glass, and then they brought them without saying anything.....!!!! Then we order appetizers, they ask us to place the whole order at the same time which we did, I guess they do not understand what's the difference between appetizers and main course as they brought all at the same time. It serves me right not to read the clues, this was supposed to be a Japanese restaurant, the music was loud Hispanic salsa ( I love salsa music ) and was nearly empty, the atmosphere seem unwelcoming, we were seated by the window and we could see mosquitos on the window, not a pleasant view, and trying not to get bitten was uncomfortable. The food was not what we hope for, badly prepared and poorly presented in the plate, and was placed around empty spaces on the table, not what you expect from a restaurant waitress nor management when they train their employees to serve paying costumers. Never I had felt so coned at a restaurant, the flavors very dissatisfying, the whole thing a nightmare. We just moved into the neighborhood and were so excited to try Sushi Mike's--especially me, since I absolutely love sushi and was hoping this would become a regular spot for our family. But right when we walked in, my husband said, "They're being really rude," and honestly, he wasn't wrong. I got the Omakase again and here's how it lined up: 1) it started with smoky Oysters, shucked and plump 2) Horse mackerel with fresh wasabi in a dipping sauce 3) Japanese amberjack with truffle and caviar 4) Garlic lobster with sprinkles of edamame where the roe would be 5) Crispy Horse mackerel with green tea salt 6) Foie gras sushi 7) Uni, scallop and ossetra caviar 8) A sushi medley of toro, shrimp, salmon, uni, red snapper, lobster, and an eel roll with a clam soup to cleanse the palate between each piece. we've been customers for at least a decade if not longer. For the most part the food has been excellent...then sometimes just good...now NOT good. Some nights are ok some are amazing, the consistency isn't there and when you spend $160+ on takeout food for 2-3 people, it should be very good! Tonight was as new low, 80% of my dish was cabbage. There was barley any chicken, pea-pods or NOODLES. (Chicken Yaki Udon is a NOODLE dish). Also, trying to pick up an order has been increasingly difficult, a couple of times they didn't have our order. Other times we have been told a hour+ on a weekend night only to get a call 14 minutes later saying it was ready. Sushi Mike's was a staple in the lower Hudson Valley for well over a decade. I remember coming here when I was younger before I even liked sushi and would just order entrees. The line was always out the door and you'd anticipate the wait for the fantasric food. This was what I was expecting when I went during the day to treat my mother to lunch, but it wasn't the case. We ordered the crispy rice spicy tuna appetizer which was dry and bland. The sushi was alright, but Our waitress was rude and spilled water all down the back of my chair and onto my phone without an apology. And to top it off, there was a couple practically on top of each other in a corner seat. The murals and fish tank are just as beautiful as I remember, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be back. We have driven past sushi mikes a million times and despite hearing good things, we've always been hesitant because the name just seemed silly for a Japanese restaurant. Don't judge a book by its title! Sushi Mikes food quality is on par with our other favorite westchester sushi spot (Kumo Scarsdale). The service definitely rushes you and is clearing plates before you've even had time to process. The food also comes out as it's done so it was sort of all out at the same time. These were the only negatives during our experience. Servers were nice, food was delicious, and we didn't have to wait. Prices were fair. Atmosphere is small but fun. Cute mural on the wall, fun fish tank with interesting fish. Overall we will likely be back. Definitely a solid sushi option. We have been eagerly anticipating eating the food at this local sushi spot in the river town of Dobbs Ferry since I last passed this place while delivering for Uber Eats last winter. Finally, today, we were nearby, hungry and decided to try this highly popular sushi place in the parts. (We are from Yonkers) My wife and I appreciated the precautions they took like hand sanitizer station the plexiglass and the social distancing that was enforced while we placed an order to go. Wait time was minimal - 10 minutes or so. We ordered the kamikaze roll -Sushi Mikes Special Roll - a Shrimp Tempura Roll and a California Roll. The kamikaze roll had shrimp tempura, (are you seeing a pattern here, yet?) cucumber, pickled jalapeño pepper w/ spicy sauce. The Sushi Mike Special Roll has shrimp and Avocado with Smoked eel plus Smoked Salmon laid out on top. The food was FRESH, down to the rice that it was wrapped in!! Very delicious and the presentation was good! What particularly stood out for me in flavor was the Smoked Salmon" it was wonderfully smoky and I could tell the salmon was super fresh. All together the bill came to $44.25 w/o any drinks. I think it's pricey BUT because it was soo delicious, I can easily forgive the slightly higher bill at this restaurant. What it boils down to is that this sushi place is high quality freshness and they do their best to satisfy their customers appetites. I've been to quite a number of sushi places, but Sushi Mike's always stood out as a place I wanted to try. I'm not sure why - maybe because it's located in Dobb's Ferry (which has a number of excellent restaurants), or maybe it's because a number of my Yelp friends gave it good reviews, or maybe because I just like sushi. Whatever the reason, I wanted to try. Tonight my friend and I were feeling it so we decided to make our way to Dobb's Ferry to check this place out. Like most other sushi restaurants I've been to, SM's isn't large. Upon entry there's a small seating area where the sushi bar is and then more seating some steps down. We were warmly greeted by a gentleman (was that you Mike?) which I thought was really nice. The decor doesn't really flow throughout the space; for me, the upper seating area gives off one aura while the bottom gives off another. There are some nice paintings on the walls and music playing which adds to the atmosphere (the restaurant also smelled amazing). The menu is large, they have a nice variety of soups, mains, basic rolls, speciality rolls, and combos; it was one of the more extensive sushi menus I've seen - I was impressed. Since it was cold out I wanted some soup. I got the dumpling soup which had three pork dumplings and mushrooms in a tasty broth. The soup hit the spot; the flavors worked with just the right amount of dumplings - it was presented nicely as well. For my main I got two rolls - the spicy shrimp roll and the out-of-control roll. Both rolls were very good and tasted super fresh - the out of control roll had spicy tuna and avocado topped with eel and the spicy shrimp roll had just the right amount of heat. Service was very good; it was fast, friendly, and they were on top of it. Overall I'm a fan of Sushi Mike's and glad I tried it - definitely one of the better sushi places I've been to in Westchester. I would definitely return! read more

I ordered Garlic broccoli appetizer, dumpling soup and out of this world rolls. The broccoli and soup were cold even though it was only a 15 minute ride home. I HATE having to warm food up in the microwave but I had no other choice. The broccoli was supposed to be cooked with ginger and garlic but it didn't have much of a taste. The dumpling soup was good and so was the rolls. One order of the rolls will get you eight nice size pieces. An oasis during a challenging time...Sushi Mike's is an old favorite of mine, but since I am not in Dobbs Ferry much anymore I haven't been in awhile.
