Decent but the fish was not very fresh. The rolls were way better. Not much people in the restaurant... My sashimi slices were not all equal width, and the second from left on the front had tons of scales still left on the fish. The dark red one (bluefin tuna akami per below comment) was VERY fishy (it's the body, not the belly where we usually enjoy toro/ootoro/chutoro from), so it didn't taste like it was very fresh. Upon research, it seems the akami is the leanest part of the bluefin tuna, meant to have a more "umami" flavor (however, this did not taste like umami to me, but rather something else). An interesting mix for sashimi, but I would stick to the rolls here. Salmon was okay, not much fat to it, not very creamy and rich like we're used to. The bottom left one had technically a sauce on it? I realize they put a ton more sauce on my husband's plate vs. mine, but I am used to having no sauce added to my sashimi. Not coming back to do omakase since we weren't impressed with the rest. The eel was a nice smoked flavor with perfectly creamy avocado. The only saving grace to the meal.

    Assorted sashimi.

This place is a sushi experience. Sushi snobs will enjoy this place. The service is excellent and their menu looks spectacular. The ambiance is very nice Their miso soup tastes freshly prepared and not too salty. Your average miso soup is dispensed out of a soup dispenser and can be salty tasting. A+ One aspect of any Japanese restaurant is their chopsticks. Believe it or not, in Japanese custom it is actually an insult to rub your chopsticks together to remove the wood splinters after separating them. That is because in Japan, chefs pride themselves on having chopsticks where there is no need to rub them together. This place has quality wood chopsticks where there is no need to rub them together. I got an assortment of nigiri sushi. From top left to bottom right: 1) Mackerel with brown garlic, 2) Kingfish topped with pickled lettuce, 3) Japanese black snapper topped with umami sauce, 4) hamachi yellowtail topped with jalapeño pepper, 5) salmon with crunchy garlic sauce, 6) fluke topped with fluke fin, lemon juice, and lime skin Their sushi is spectacular and deserves praise. My top 4 recommendations are as follows: #1 - Hamachi Yellowtail - spectacular. A true mouth pleasure #2 - Salmon - one of the best pieces I have tried #3 - King fish (seasonal) - a must try. #4 - spicy salmon roll was spectacular. The other pieces of sushi are as follows: The mackerel- tasty with a smoky flavor from the black garlic Japanese Black Snapper topped with umai sauce - the umai sauce made the roll. Tasty Fluke - I may not be a fan of fluke in general but they do a spectacular job with the garnish 10/10 would recommend for adults looking to enjoy a nice experience. Expensive but tasty.

The freshest fish I've had in all of the sushi restaurants in Westchester, very intimate interior, feels like you're in japan at an exclusive omakase restaurant. The service and staff were so nice and friendly and helpful, I had a great experience, absolutely delicious

TLDR: There is amazing Omakase style sushi in Westchester. A spot called Umami Sushi in Ardsley NY! I moved into Manhattan, and now that has become my primary food scene out of proximity. However, I found a little slice of the city in my hometown and went for dinner yesterday, and OMG. It blew my mind. Umami Sushi in Ardsley has been our go-to spot for years. The Cramer household as resident Ardsleans are in-the-know about this local gem. The fish is consistently fresh, the staff is helpful and prompt, and Candy and her family are great owners who make an effort to get to know the regulars. A few weeks ago, Candy told us that with their renovated sushi bar, they were going to start Omakase service with a Manhattan sushi chef? I was over the moon! Omakase is a Japanese phrase which means "I'll leave it up to you", or chef's choice. There are many famous Omakase sushi establishments within New York City, and while delicious, they are insanely expensive! I booked a 7pm-9pm time slot right away. The experience was fabulous! In total we had 17 courses, each course consisting of an appetizer or a nigiri style sushi piece. The best part about Omakase is the sushi chef is allowed to curate an experience for you that you could not get eating standard rolls. It's an art form of its own, and the chefs are able to showcase their creative morsels of deliciousness while also providing menus that's use the freshest products in-house. You also get one-on-one time with your sushi chef, and he listens to your feedback and incorporates your tastes within the upcoming courses. We had an amazing sampling of toro, uni (sea urchin), truffles, caviar, Spanish mackerel, yellow tail, sea bass, monkfish, and the list goes on. Each round was got better as we went along. Our chef created unique pieces that I have never seen done in a Manhattan Omakase, and all of them distinctively held their own. The best part? Compared to an establishment like Masa or Sushi Yasuda in NYC ($$$$), Umami offers a very, very conservative price for the quality, creativity, talent and service that went into our meal. Do yourself a favor and for your next birthday, anniversary, client dinner, or adventurous dinner out, book a time slot for one of Umami's Omakase options via their Yelp, and get yourself a bottle of Sake because you deserve it!!! Oh, and be sure to say hi to Candy for me!

Went back to Umami Sushi , first time in a long time ... The Omakase was great ! It's a little fusion style but you won't get this style at any Japanese sushi place in Manhattan. Strongly recommend the Omakase menu ! Would definitely go back

Had a wonderful Omakase experience here. All the sushi pieces were delicious and very nicely presented by the chef. Cute place to go for a date or special occasion. Deff a must try if you in the area.

Thanks to the Yelpers I found this spot which did not disappoint! *AMBIANCE* It's a no frills, minimalistic restaurant but don't be deceived because the food speaks for itself. You can either find street parking or there's a metered lot across the street. We had a late lunch so there were open tables inside, and a few outdoor tables to enjoy your noms. *FOOD* I ordered the roll lunch set ($18), not only because variety is the spice of life, but I love having sushi, soup and some sides. The sushi was very fresh and I loved the gyoza, spinach, egg sides. We also ordered the tempura duo ($14) appetizer which was perfectly crisp. The shrimp and the veggie tempura were probably some of the best tempura I've had. Highly recommend the lunch sets (which are offered until 3:30pm)! *SERVICE* Service was fast, friendly and attentive. Overall, come hungry and leave with a sense of joy and possibly a mild food coma after!

Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly depending on your grasp of history, Poke is actually a Hawaiian dish.
