Both appetizers were so crispy and the dressing on the salad only made the crab taste more amazing. My guests entree was Yaki Udon Beef, with an aroma that was intoxicating, the flavor was outstanding. First visit here. Got here at 4p, the place was empty. I ordered 3 rolls & a soup. The rolls don't come worth soup or salad, and I feel like their rolls have a lot of fillers. The salmon and avavocado roll was good but the shrimp & dragon weren't worth the $. The dragon roll has lettuce in it along with cucumber. The shrimp roll has a lot of breading & not enough shrimp. I also got a clam soup (~$10) it had 4 clams, shell & all in a clear broth, totally not worth it. There's metered parking outside if you wanna give this place a try. Its been a while since I've had such yummy sushi. The staff was so friendly. Service was quick. Went here with my fiance and a couple friends. We were seated right away. My friends are regulars so they knew what they wanted. I got a summer roll which was shrimp tempura with mango on top. My fiance got the chicken tempura which was delicious and fried to perfection. Dined in: Sushi was okay, the sunset roll was good but the spicy tuna didn't taste very fresh... then when the bill comes I see all these up charges for sauces and soy paper when she didn't even tell me there would be a charge when I ordered it. She said I thought you knew... ummm no it's my first time going there. At least tell me there is an up charge since there is no where on the menu stating that. Also, when I was going to order the Philadelphia roll with fresh salmon instead of smoked salmon, she told me there was a $1 up charge for that, so why not say it for the other stuff. Their service is efficient and polite. Food isn't anything out of this world but it is good quality. Their shrimp wontons are handmade and yummy. Alas, because Sakura is a six-star restaurant (you get my point) with very friendly staff who work hard to make sure an order is just right -- my companion can't do anything spicy, so we asked for regular tuna in a roll instead of spicy, no problem. Very fresh ingredients, beautiful bright colors, splendid presentation -- very artistic without being pretentious -- and splendid results. The fish had beautiful flavors, the elaborate roll we had was multi-layered and multi-textured . . . our waitperson kept coming over to give us more delicious ganmaicha tea. Best hidden gem at Pelham. My family and I come here at least twice every week. Every time we come here, we are always greeted by smiles of the waitress and feel so welcomed. They talk to us like we are friends and always have a good time here. When we order rolls or sushi, the fish is always so fresh. Every single single time. Does not disappoint. Sushi is a treat in my household because I am the only one who eats it. My wife doesnt like it, therefore, the chances I get to indulge are few and far between. I've lived on the edge of New Rochelle next to Pelham for a little over two years now and boy am I glad this spot is a 5 minute drive from my house. Every time I go in I am greeted by quite possibly the most happy staff I have ever encountered. Always an exuberant "HELLO!" and I am quickly assisted whether I am dining in or taking out. The sushi is AMAZING. The regular rolls, the specialty rolls, the sashimi, the soups, the tartare's...just all amazing. The food is also priced reasonably for sushi. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. Yes, parking might be an issue once in a while, but park two blocks away if you need to. It wont kill you. And....the food is worth it. Recently, I've turned my wife onto their Hibachi meals as an excuse to go to this restaurant a little more often. And guess whose been able to have a little more sushi once in a while???? I don't know who had the shift around 3-4pm on June 19, 2021 but the person got my entire food order wrong, denied they did when I called back and then proceeded to talk over me and be extremely belligerent, told me I'm wrong and that they aren't going to fix my order. I'm allergic to pork and wanted Chicken Teriyaki, they gave me Salmon and a pork egg roll. Then had the audacity to tell me I'm wrong?????? Why would I order pork when I'm allergic?!!?!! I have to say we've been coming here for years Cheryl our waitress is very sweet and accommodating. They pretty much no us by now so we normally place the standard order as usual but the main course we always ask for a surprise. We like hot and spicy and let me tell you I was surprise is always on the money. Behind the counter is Jackie Chan that's what I refer him to always. Do you want another tasting personal surprise? TERRIBLE !! The food wasn't good at all- my rolls fell right apart when using my chop sticks, made it very messy and hard to eat!! My friend was from out of town and agreed! was not impressed at all with what he ordered!! Also, The service was terrible!! The waitress put a glass of wine down right in front of us when we still had the (oversized) menu's and it got knocked over and spilt all over my friend. ( it was a full glass) The waitress didn't even comp. that glass of wine when the bill came it was on the bill.
