Tokyo House is hands-down my favorite Japanese spot in the BX. It's usually difficult to find decent sushi out here but this place does not disappoint! Take advantage of the 3 sushi roll lunch special. It is very fairly priced and you get a decent amount of food. I went with the eel avocado roll, yellowtail scallion roll, and salmon roll. They were perfectly fresh, nicely spicy, and packed with flavor. I also got a sashimi appetizer which tasted very fresh, light, and delicious. They provided an assortment of yummy fresh fish which were all very good. Portions are big, so I was stuffed and happy. Prices are more than reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. It's definitely a great value in Riverdale. I have been ordering from here on and off for years, and the consistency is unreal. Fresh ingredients, delicious execution, and that neighborhood charm keep us coming back. If you're craving authentic, satisfying Japanese food without the fuss or sky-high prices, Tokyo House is the spot. read more

Not sure why I keep coming here ... Guess I need to learn my lesson every few weeks or so. Place is really hit or miss but mostly miss. We get the salmon teriyaki bento box and most of the time they give in the cheapest cut possible.... The fish is white, barely grilled, slimy and has a slight fishy taste. They increased their prices by like 33% at least give a better cut and better grilled piece of fish! The salmon we get from the AYCE is better quality. I regularly went to Tokyo House before the pandemic, and now order from them once in a while. After touring many of the sushi restaurants near Yonkers, I've picked them as my regular spot. While they may not be quite up to Manhattan standards, I always have a good experience. You can tell that their fish varies in freshness depending on day of the week -- sometimes the red snapper, yellowfin, or white tuna is outstanding, other times it's just alright. This is perfectly understandable from a small restaurant, and I don't hold this against them. The fish is always at least good! It's just sometimes outstanding. They're also pretty generous with their avocado in California rolls and the sizes of their sashimi slices. Their tempura rolls (dragon rolls?) always have good crispiness. The miso soup is good, the salad is very meh. So, in lower Westchester, they're one of the best value and most consistent sushi spots. Consistently nice. read more

People who work there are always nice, and they fill out orders quickly. Glad to have this option in the neighborhood. This rating is based on my one (and only) experience with this restaurant. I ordered the Sushi Dinner and a salmon skin roll with spicy mayo. The order arrived quickly (Uber Eats) and and in good condition. The salmon skin roll was good. However, when I got to Sushi Dinner, the tuna roll had an odd, unpleasant taste, and I stopped after one piece. Some of the rest of the sushi items were OK, but I had the distinct impression that something wasn't right, perhaps the fish wasn't that fresh. I simply could not finish the meal. Sushi isn't new to me, I've eaten and loved it for many years - there was no novelty factor involved. I was very disappointed; on one hand I'd like to give this local business another chance, because as a performing artist I know many people in the food services as well as the arts who have been impacted by the pandemic, but I'm not sure I have the fortitude to go through this again. One of my items was missing, the shrimp tempura chef's special roll was gross, not fresh tasting at all and they are really cheap with the number of pieces it comes with. Wings weren't wings but tips in a onion/noodle stew, which was not in the description. I have ordered wings so many times from different places and never have I gotten my wings in a stew. Maybe because the wings were so bland they thought that by adding this stew to it it would make up for it? FAIL. The next morning my stomach made me regret even eating a bite of this food. We have gotten takeout here a few times when visiting my Dad nearby. Call 20-30 minutes ahead as they are busy for lunchtime. Very fresh sushi, sashimi and chirashi. Bento box with fried shrimp was very generous. In fact we definitely ordered too much food but we enjoyed the leftovers later of tofu and salad and fruits. Healthy and delicious! I could tell my questions were annoying her a bit, but she was still polite. She couldn't help me make a selection or provide any reassurance.
