    Match Tiramisu

If you're looking for the freshest sushi in Sonoma County, Sake 107 is the place to be! Growing up in Hawaii made me incredibly picky about fish quality, and I can confidently say this spot exceeds expectations. Their fish is exceptionally fresh, and they feature a new menu every day--check out their Instagram for updates. The food is absolutely worth every penny. I ordered the sashimi plate, spicy salmon hand roll, Melt in Your Mouth roll, and the matcha tiramisu. Everything was incredible, and the total came to about $60. The interior is clean and beautifully designed. I sat at the bar, and the sushi chef was super friendly, chatting with me and checking in the whole time. The service is very fast! If you're ready to treat yourself to high-quality Japanese cuisine, Sake 107 is a must-visit.

We stumbled upon Sake107 for dinner before we drove back home and somehow found our new favorite restaurant in Petaluma. The main dining room is cozy and inviting, but we sat at the sushi bar since we didn't have reservations. We just made their happy hour and were able to order a round. We ordered the seaweed salad, tempura, spicy salmon hand rolls, and the country miso soup to start. I especially loved the miso soup, it felt like something a Japanese grandma would make and was very hearty and warming with all the different veggies and tofu inside. We were really impressed with the fish quality and generous portions on the rainbow roll, which was one of the best we've ever had. The explosion roll was really unique, there was a huge pile of tempura fried onions in the middle with enough to take home. We got hamachi and aji nigiri per the chef's recommendation and the fish was all very fresh with a great ratio to the rice. Not only was all the food really good, but the service was also one of the best parts of the meal. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly, and we loved the great conversation we had with the sushi chef. Highly recommend this spot, I will definitely be back to enjoy the nigiri the next time we get to come here!

I have been enjoying this fabulous establishment for several years. Opening before COVID, and enduring during it with take-out service, and then outdoor dining before getting back to "normal", this has been a go to spot. I can easily argue that Sake 107 serves the best sushi in the North Bay. Those are big words, I understand. But when I look at criteria, I think of the following: cleanliness, freshness, service, presentation. Sake 107 aces all those. You will not find cleaner or more fresh fish anywhere. The selection and menu is relatively simple and not overwhelming. In fact, tonight, as I visited, I recognized several new items that I had not seen previously. Everything is in its prime, from fish to vegetables. Even the oil used to flash fry tempura is exceptionally clean. Every time I go in, I feel like part of the family. I feel like I am exceptionally welcome. The owner and chef and staff are quite personable and even ask how my family is doing, having brought them previously on occasions. This is definitely a cut above a "really good restaurant". The plates come from the sushi bar in the kitchen rapidly and looking extremely appetizing and well presented. Owing to its namesake, a healthy selection of premium sake is available. I typically choose to order the sampler, which gives me an opportunity to try small portions of different kinds that I might enjoy. I am more of a wine person than a sake person, so this particularly is helpful. In several years of coming, I have never had a bad visit and have never had food less than stellar. Even though sushi restaurants in general tend to be more costly because of the quality and type of food, you're purchasing, another thing that sets Sake 107 a cut above, is that they don't charge for pretentiousness, unlike perhaps some "high-end" sushi restaurants in the Bay Area. Two piece nigiri for $10 or three piece sashimi for $15 is extremely reasonable for what you get. Rolls from $14-$20 make sense as well. If you're looking for outstanding Japanese cuisine, clean and delicious fish, attentive and friendly service, and a bill that's not astronomical in the sushi realm - Sake 107 will please you very much.

Absolutely amazing. Live in Novato and was near by Petaluma. Yelped it and it didn't disappoint. Super fresh fish, fish Bone Miso was very good. Top notch service and super friendly. I would expect this in the city or LA fine dining. Will definitely be back. Thanks Team Sake 107.

We recently relocated to Sonoma county (The Sea Ranch) from Silicon Valley (Menlo Park) and have had some nice meals along the coast since we moved here FT (Harbor House, Ledford House etc) but this little spot is a real gem. Friends recommended it so we had a double date night and filled the table with all sorts of goodies. Great evening and food. Highly recommended. Small, simply situated on a very quiet street in Point Arena. A few doors down from a decent locally sourced weed shop (also worth a visit BTW), and a local fish monger (Point Arena is a commercial fishing port) and solid local bakery (Pelican), this excellent restaurant serves up a variety of rotating locally sourced small plates and yakatori style grilled meats and veggies as well as some raw fish and stews as well. Highlights were the sashimi, the fish roe on rice, the grilled pork belly, the grilled cabbage salad, the tempura shrooms and the fried chicken oysters as well as the grilled chicken thighs. All excellent. They have a nice selection of saki's as well (we had 2 small bottles to share $20/each) and to close the meal we had the Matcha ice cream with passion fruit ! All in for 4 people including tax and tip $250...which in today's world seemed very fair to me. Great meal and great vibe overall. Chef/owners apparently have strong training and work experience in Japanese settings and fine dining restaurants- which may explain why this place does very simple things so well... Make a reservation on the weekends otherwise you'll miss out or end up eating at the bar. There are certainly worse things to do than that...however, trust me. Visit here and thank me later. Well done Izakaya Gama ! We will be back. This will undoubtedly be on our regular "locals dining out rotation" now. Bravo Izakaya Gama !

Fried, grilled, steamed, raw... not a single miss. We were staying just up the block on a short getaway, and this ended up being one of the most memorable parts of the trip. At one point we were talking about Rintaro in SF, and the chef overheard us--she mentioned he knew the folks there and spoke highly of them. Honestly, after eating here, I think Gama is better, and at a much friendlier price point. Warm atmosphere, great food, and a chef who clearly cares about what they're doing. It is very true that it is difficult to get in this spot during peak hours. A waitlist will have you on point, but you will still have to wait a little bit to get in. Trust me - it's all worth it. The team of hosts and wait staff treats you kindly, even though there's the "stress" of a wait. Once seated in the dimly lit space, everything happens more quickly. Your order is taken and it's not long before you get some plates coming your way. The food. Amazing. Simply delicious. Well thought out, fresh and well presented. I had the black sesame asparagus - the sauce so incredible. Then the sake sashimi was melt in your mouth quality. And a couple well equipped rolls satisfied every desire. Wine by the glass on the list, besides beers and sake. A must-go sushi place for the Bay Area. Along with Sake 107 in Petaluma, Kirala in Berkeley and Ebisu in SF -- this is a place you need to visit.

We were second in line. The doors opened, and the hostess seated a couple, a man and woman, in a booth. My wife and I, two women, were second. The hostess pointed us to a table with chairs up front. We told her we would like a booth. She said they save booths for parties of four. I pointed out the couple that had just been seated in a booth. She looked irritated and just pointed to the table with chairs. I politely asked for a booth again. She looked more irritated, and pointed to the worst booth. It was a booth on one side and chairs on the other, right behind the greeting podium. She walked away, and we sat ourselves in a normal booth. I was actually wondering if someone was going to ask us to move. The whole experience really put a damper on our night although we tried to pretend it didn't happen so we could enjoy ourselves. In addition, my hamachi was not good at all, and I have eaten a lot of hamachi in my time.

They have also just completed an expansion and remodel which added more seating, and opened up the restaurant with a bit. They still use the iPad based ordering system which I always like, since it allows for better pacing. While before I praised them, this time left more to be desired. The sheen seems to have come off. Not sure if they changed chefs, but fish did not seem as fresh, sauces were a lot more heavy handed (overkill), and it just didn't feel as clean tasting as it used to. Maybe an off night, but not nearly as good as I remembered it to be. They have more cute robots now - and the bee decor makes it feel more like a proper restaurant. Though they have a wide menu - I would probably encourage sushi lovers to look elsewhere. The ramen, fried rice, dumplings and bento boxes are probably a stronger suit here now. They also seem to be doing a lot of take out service now as well.
