The more I visit this place the more I love it! This last time I went, I had a mission to fulfill my sushi/sashimi craving. The sushi place I went to the previous night left me unsatisfied and yearning for more and better sushi. As an introvert, I prefer to come to restaurants on their off hours. To my surprise, even at 1:30 PM the place was busy. There were plenty of tables, but there were also plenty of patrons. Most of them were Korean, which is always a good sign when you go to a Korean/Japanese restaurant. The server and she was the only one was extremely nice. In her younger days, I'm sure she would've passed for a K-pop star. I knew what I wanted from the menu because I searched their website the night before. I ordered the 25 piece sashimi dish. It comes with a salad and miso soup. The salad was tasty with a nice light dressing that didn't overpower the other foods. The miso soup was perfect. It was not too salty as the other place that I had visited. The star of the afternoon was the sashimi plate. It came out on the bed of ice that was huge! My eyes bulged when I saw how much food was on there. In today's shrink-flation I was expecting smaller portions but I was wrong. There were so many varieties of fish that all tasted amazing. I'm not a big fan of octopus, but this one was perfect. It wasn't chewy and the sizes were small enough to fit in my mouth without feeling like I ate a large rubber band. I'm not sure of all the fish that were on there, but most of them would qualify as my favorites. I'm so glad they did not add the omelette thingy that I absolutely hate. Between the sashimi, the miso soup, and the salad I was completely satisfied and happy. I know there are other places in Santa Rosa that are probably better, but this will be my go to place when I'm craving sushi sashimi. They also have Korean dishes, but I've not tried any of them yet. Perhaps the next visit, I will try them out. Maybe what I will do is order the smaller 15 pieces and add a Korean dish. I love this place! Stopped by because my friend and I didn't want to cook dinner. Was surprised but also concerned it was a sushi and Korean spot. Places that do sushi plus something else often are associated with subpar food all around or only good on one end. No need to worry about that, the fish is fresh and the bibimbap is tasty! Tempura: the combo appetizer was good, comes with a shishito pepper tempura! The Oreo tempura was good, I think the whipped cream being on the said as a dip option would be better but it was still crispy and good. Sushi: my friend got a Godzilla roll and it tasted amazing, perfectly sauced with actual crab. My Uni sashimi was expensive ($17), but worth it as it was a very good quality for two pieces with plenty on top. Korean: seafood bibimbap was SIZZLING behind able to achieve a nice crisp on the rice without burning it. Lots of squid and tiny shrimps. Sauce on the side including gochujang to spice up as you like. The banchan was simple but good, wasn't too strong or lacking in flavor. Staff: A few regulars came in while we were there and I can see why, they are just the sweetest people ever! If I lived closer I'd come in monthly at least. They have ANKIMO! Cozy place for a casual date or group meal. It was our first time here. Bf and I got the chirashi bowl, bento box and Sake Heaven Roll. Chirashi bowl was pretty good - fresh cuts of fish and they even had toro. It included lots of cucumber and seaweed salad. We got Sake Heaven Roll to share which was salmon and cucumber topped with salmon and imitation crab. The roll is huge and after my Chirashi bowl I was so full. If I were going out to eat with one of my girlfriends I probably could share a chirashi or one of the sashimi combos and a roll with them. Bf got the bento box with chicken and salmon teriyaki and tuna sashimi, which he thought was good. The rice was a bit dry and some grains were burnt but wasn't a big deal because it was still edible. The bento box and chirashi bowl each came with miso soup and salad. Miso soup was a bit salty but the salad was fine. Lots of people came for their takeout orders while we were there for dinner. Friendly quick service. We were surprised when they brought out complimentary dessert with our check, which was a fried Oreo for each of us. I'm extremely upset. We drove in from another area and won't be back. The service was very disappointing. We were greeted by the cooks when we walked in, but when we sat down, we noticed the new table-side computer system. I asked a staff member for assistance and had a question about one of the rolls, but she simply pointed to the kiosk and walked away. We got up and left. What's frustrating is that they still bring menus to the table but refuse to take orders in person unless it's placed through the kiosk. Came here for lunch with my husband and daughter. The interior is very clean and calm with cute decor. The hostess was very kind and the food was made fresh and piping hot (gyoza and side of steamed rice). I got the Prince roll and my husband got the New Mexico roll. The Prince roll was a nice sweet umami flavor. The rolls had nice portions! I got very full. We also tried the toro nigiri which was also very fresh tasting. While the food isn't inedible and the portions huge I found it to be overall lacking in flavor and quality. The nigiri had a rubbery texture and I could detect a sort of chemical-y taste that suggested the fish is of lesser quality and/or kept for too long. The sushi rice was cold and missing that typical mirin flavor. The edamame was unseasoned. The seaweed salad was the only item they got right. My boyfriend and I came in on a weeknight for dinner and it wasn't too busy at all. We ordered one bento and two rolls to share, which was a good amount of food for the two of us. For our bento we ordered the chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, and tonkatsu. Each item was pretty tasty, though the salmon seemed a little bit overcooked. Flavors were good, though! Katsu was nice and crispy and not too dried out. Bentos also come with a standard miso soup and side salad. For the rolls we ordered a basic salmon roll and the big spider roll, both of which were yummy! No complaints about the fish quality. Though the menu is a bit pricey, we enjoyed this meal and we would come back next time we're in the area and craving sushi! My super big fried roll was good as well was my tuna nigiri (was very dark in color, but probably just oxidized- tasted fine) and I was forgiving the water salad until I tasted his rolls. Very fishy, and not in a "it's fish it tastes like fish" kind of way. It had an after flavor that tasted like it wasn't fresh, possibly frezer burnt or left out too long. 3 stars because my roll and nigiri were good. Maybe avoid the salmon? I've been here a few times and before my last visit the place would have earned a 4/5. Unfortunately the last time I went they really messed up the rice. It was the worst rice I've ever had with sushi. It was so dry. The type of dry where you didn't put enough water when cooking the rice or how Safeway sushi taste after leaving it in the fridge overnight. My nirgi 12 piece set was quite disappointing as well. They decided to give 1 piece of salmon, 1 piece of tuna, 1 egg, 1 fish eggs, 1 shrimp, 1 eel and the rest white fish. The cuts were small and not well done. Just because it's chef's choice doesn't mean get rid of your less popular fish. The customer is giving you trust to responsibly craft a balanced and tasty plate!! I went with my sister because it is one of her favorite sushi spots in Santa Rosa. My sister and her husband always finish their sushi but this time there were a lot left over...
