Not sure why it's taken me so long to get here - as a kid I have fantastic memories with my grandparents at the now closed Gary Chu's that was located in downtown Santa Rosa. I guess partly because I didn't realize the ownership of Osake. The experience at Osake was great, the staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean and has really pretty decorative wall hangings. For appetizers we ordered the Martini Prawns (based on other reviews) and the spicy garlic edamame. The prawns were delicious and served in a martini glass - think walnut prawns sauce for taste but comes without the walnuts. The edamame had a garlic teriyaki sauce on them - which I haven't had before and enjoyed. For lunch I had the Marilyn Monroll (cute play on words) shrimp tempura, crab salad, scallops and spicy sauce. I'd order this again, so good with the crunch and the spicy sauce. My daughter had the dynamite roll - smoked salmon baked and drizzled with spicy sauce. We both finished our order- no complaints here. There is also plenty of parking. Worth checking out if you haven't been.

We have eaten here many times and the food doesn't disappoint. The food was well packaged. The carburetor roll is my favorite and the hot and sour soup and edamame are delicious! My only issue is that the prices are a bit high for what you get. It obviously hasn't stopped us though because we keep going back.

Osake Sushi never disappoints. The martini prawns are an absolute must--perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The chef's special is always an excellent choice as well, and it's fun to try whatever they're featuring. I've come here many times and it's consistently great. A wonderful place to share dinner with friends and enjoy some amazing sushi. Highly recommend!

Family favorite in Santa Rosa! The walnut shrimp martinis are a must. The sushi is always so tasty with excellent presentation. The staff is always welcoming and never miss a beat. Pro tip (if you drink): try their sake flights!

HELLO?!? What? Never hear of Gary Chu??? Wow! Newbie!! Ok, in all seriousness, Gary makes some of the best sushi around! The service is always excellent, and the interior design is very welcoming. There is a large aquarium that you will not miss! Tip of the day: scallops, and Uni toast.. remember, you heard it here first..

Price increases without upgrading food, staff or ambiance. At times, patrons seem more appropriate for a dive bar. Far too loud.

I called the restaurant in advance to ask if I could make a reservation and to please give the check to me, as this friend can be quite stealthy about paying the bill. The lady who answered was most pleasant and accommodating and she mentioned that she would be our server too. The interior looks very similar to when this place was known as Aji. The previous owner had done a remodel before it changed hands so it is much brighter and inviting. We were seated at a booth and the menu is quite intriguing. They offer all kinds of nigiri/sashimi, classic rolls, special rolls, ramen, udon, bento boxes and even a kids menu. I don't eat raw fish so I ordered the green curry ramen which was a beautiful serving with two thick slices of pork, bamboo shoots, and a jammy egg. The broth was not what I expected. Even though the menu says medium spicy, I found it to be a very mild with a thin broth. I really enjoyed the slices of pork. My friend ordered the tempura udon. It was a nice serving of udon with vegetables and her tempura arrived separately on a plate, which we liked. Otherwise, the tempura would get all soggy. She couldn't stop commenting how good everything tasted. The interior is clean and service is outstanding, friendly and helpful. Our server was kind enough to take photos of us. When we arrived home, my friend realized that she had forgotten her leftovers. She was terribly disappointed so I told her to call the restaurant and sure enough, they had saved her leftovers in their refrigerator. What a very kind gesture! She drove back to pick them up and she was elated that they had been saved for her. Thank you Shiki for the nice meal and for saving my friend's leftovers. There are a few tables outside so you could enjoy a meal with your furry friend. Parking is available right outside the restaurant shared with other businesses.

I am still completely shocked by what happened at dinner tonight…read more The four of us went to a restaurant we've visited many times before. My mom loves their poke bowl and always orders it with less rice because she doesn't want to get filled up. Every other time she's ordered it this way, she's received a reasonable amount of rice--less than normal, but still enough for the meal. When my mom's poke bowl arrived, it had almost no rice at all. Since there was barely any rice worth mentioning, she told the waitress about it and asked for some rice to compensate. She was brought a small bowl of rice and added some to her Poke. When the bill came, we noticed she had been charged $5 for the rice. We politely asked the waitress about it. The owner overheard, and interject telling us that because my mom asked for less rice, she received less rice. We explained that wasn't the issue--we were confused about being charged extra for rice when the original portion was so unusually small.....nonexistent. The owner insisted that my mom hadn't asked for "half rice" and then went on to tell us that "you Americans don't understand how poke bowls work." At that point, we were stunned. We tried to explain our concern, but the conversation only became more frustrating. Eventually, I said to forget it and that we would just pay the extra charge. Instead of letting the matter go, the owner brought the chef out of the kitchen to further explain why we shouldn't have expected more rice. It was incredibly insulting and completely unnecessary. She would not stop berating us. We repeatedly asked her to stop, but she continued arguing the point. What should have been a simple question about a side charge turned into a lecture and a confrontation. We finally got up and left. This wasn't about the cost of the rice. It was about the way we were treated. We've been loyal customers for a year since she opened, and I've never experienced anything quite so disrespectful in a restaurant. Shame on you, Yu. Telling everyone we know.... and we know a lot of people here.

First the good part- it's my first time at SEA Thai Bistro. We liked the location, ambience, our server - PK. PK was helpful and hospitable also humorous so fun to interact with. We informed PK we would like to order vegetarian and he was nice enough to suggest what mains can be ordered/altered to make vegetarian (without any fish or fish paste added). With limited choice being there, we ordered Tofu Drunken Noodles, Chicken Cashew (chicken substituted by Tofu) with Jasmine Rice and a few chilled Simba (& Simba refills). The other part was - the staff member at the right side of the door. She looked hassled throughout; right from the time we walked in and exited. We told her we did not make a reservation and are two of us so is a booth available, she was reluctant and still made us sit at the smaller table for two (while most of the indoor tables and booths were still free). No problem, maybe she had been having a bad day. Similar hassled attitude observed at the time of leaving; leaves one with not a great taste ! So, while we would likely choose to come back for the food and else that felt good; hoping we don't have to meet or be greeted by that same employee and her inhospitable attitude.

At the end, I also got the homemade sauce just to try bc it was packed in a glass mason jar and relatively affordable. For food, I got tonkotsu ramen and the broth was good. I think it was missing the condiments and some umami flavoring. I'm not sure. It was 3.5 imo. The sesame balls were good and so was the octopus ball. The salmon looked plentiful and came with lots of sides but I'm not sure how it tasted bc I didn't order. All the dishes were cleared out though so I'd say it was a successful lunch trip. They have a long fish display in the front and plenty of seating too! Reminds me to go back to Japan soooon.

And my taste are different differently different than others. There was something off about the kimchi... It just didn't taste like what I'm used to, but I mean that could be a restaurant thing. I was also thrown off by the macaroni salad. It also had no flavor. I really enjoyed the bean sprouts and wanted to get another serving but was told it was a sample serving and that they don't do more than that. I could pay two dollars m Overall, I think my biggest issue was that a lot of the food was much sweeter than I expected. I was especially surprised by the grilled shrimp because I never imagined it would taste that sweet. I'm not going to lie, I still ate everything because I paid for it and didn't want to waste the food. The highlight of the meal was the Love Boat sushi roll that they light on fire. Visually, it was really impressive and made for a fun presentation. Taste wise, though, it was just an average sushi roll. I couldn't tell that the fire added anything to the flavor. I didn't notice any smokiness or anything that elevated the dish, and I honestly think it would have tasted the same without the fire. For what I paid, I don't think the meal was worth it, so I probably wouldn't come back just for myself. That said, I can see why other people might enjoy it. I did really like the jalapeño on the sushi roll because it added a nice kick, so I would order that again. This is also one of the few times I've had Thai iced tea that was simply too sweet for my taste.
