Family Sashimi Boat
Anh P.

Honestly such a hidden gem in Santa Rosa. Haku Sushi and Hanbuk Korea BBQ sharing the same spot so you can literally order sushi and K-food at the same table (lifesaver if you're indecisive like me lol) Our grp of 4 got the medium Family Sashimi Boat from Haku and it was huge. The fish was thickly sliced, super fresh and it came with miso soup, combo tempura, and salmon kama (sooo fatty and good). We also ordered spider rolls (soft shell crab, crab, avo, masago) which had a nice crunch. And if you want something light, definitely get the jedi mind trick (no-rice roll wrapped in cucumber with salmon, tuna, hamachi, crab). Super refreshing and didn't leave me feeling bloated. Then, from Hanbuk restaurant, we got the ohjinguh bokkum (spicy stir fry squid). Should've ordered extra rice because the sauce went so well with rice and was not spicy at all (just mild spicy) Overall, great experience. I would rate Haku Sushi 4.5/5 and Hanbuk 4/5.

The roll had a great balance of fresh fish and colorful roe, and the edible flowers were a nice touch. Service was fast and everything was well prepared. I'd definitely come back!

This is a maze of tightly packed tables, in the front, with an area in the back that has a bit more room, though didn't see it used. I was seated immediately, and the waitress took my drink order. You can order either sushi or Koean BBQ, which I found interesting. I chose sushi. I ordered the nine piece sashimi that comes with misa soup and a small salad. Also, the "I'll have what she's having" sushi roll (like a rainbow roll with more fish and tobiko). The fish was very fresh. There is a parking lot right across the street.

This has been our go to sushi spot in Santa Rosa. The first time we came, we ate at the restaurant and very much enjoyed our meal. We have been ordering our food to go. I like their Bento dinner and hubby gets his rolls. The service is always prompt and they also give you a 20% discount if you pay with cash with your to go orders so that's a plus. Love the look of the place also.

Late night cravings? Haku Sushi has you covered. I love that I can get either Japanese food or Korean BBQ, Haku is a crowd pleaser option for those who can't really decide what they are craving. The food is flavorful, the staff is friendly and the cozy atmosphere makes it easy to linger. I mostly love that they stay open until midnight! Haku has definitely saved me on those nights when cravings hit or when I planned last minute dinners. Huge selling point is always how late they stay open. Every time I come I have to order the Sex on Fire Roll, it's a must try and compliments any dish. 10/10 love this place.

Chicken Karaage (4 stars) - strange color but crispy and good.

We had lunch on 4th of July at Haku Sushi before our weekend outing to Bodega Bay. Haku is a unique restaurant that offers classic Japanese cuisine, a full-blown Korean BBQ menu, and some amazing Asian-flavored ice creams and mochi. The food and ambiance are great, though I will ding them for having a bathroom with a malfunctioning flush. We ordered: * Chicken Karaage - Their version of Japanese Fried Chicken had a funky white breading and teriyaki sauce drizzle. Despite the appearance, it was crispy outside and soft inside. Definitely better with the spicy mayo. * Teriyaki Chicken and Salmon Bento was decent, though our 5yo wasn't a huge fan for some reason. * Sushi Combo was decent - I got California Roll and Nigiri. Toppings really fresh though rice needs more seasoning. * Wife got the Korean Tofu Pork Soup. It looked good and I was surprised they gave a while bunch of banchan. Definitely turns soup into a full-blown meal. * Definitely save room for their Black Sesame Ice Cream. Huge scoop with caramel drizzle and frozen raspberries. It's the type of dessert you might expect at a Michelin restaurant. They also offer up other Asian flavors lime Yuzu, Ginger Root, and Thai Iced Tea.

First time dining here, and overall, it was a good experience. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a Monday lunch, so our food came out quickly. I ordered the bento box with salmon teriyaki and mixed tempura--it was tasty, though to be honest, bento boxes tend to taste similar to me at most Japanese restaurants. The miso soup was good, but not the best I've had. My dad ordered sashimi and mentioned it was fresh, which is always a plus. Service was solid--the servers checked in on us regularly and made sure we were taken care of. While the food was enjoyable, this place doesn't stand out as a "must-visit" for Japanese cuisine in my opinion. Still, worth trying if you're nearby and craving something simple and satisfying

Big in Japan and Love Boat roll. Small portion for a lot of money!

Extremely overpriced for small portions and subpar fish. When we first entered the restaurant we were greeted by the smell of cigarettes- IN the restaurant. The next red flag was the amount of escolar on the menu, almost all of their special rolls had this fish. Then, all of their rolls were extremely small and did not taste high quality. The nigiri was worse- specifically the uni had a really muted color and had a weird liquid sheer on it, almost like it was sweating? Not only was this slop, but it was for a premium price! The only reason this wasn't one star is because the waitresses were very friendly and attentive.

Spicy edamame and lobster roll

I love this sushi spot! They are really at the top for me. Ambiance is cozy and great for dates. Excellent service. Everyone is so friendly and attends to your needs promptly. My fav go-tos are the shrimp tempura roll and the lobster roll. It's soo delicious! If you love spicy, try the spicy garlic edamame. I can have it everyday! Don't forget to pair it with some warm sake. Perfect meal here anytime. Can't wait to go back!

Don't skip in the Korean BBQ!!

This is by far my favorite restaurant!! Food is incredible, the staff is always so sweet and overall it's just a cool spot to hang out! Love th late night hours too!

Came here for lunch on a Sunday with a few friends.... The ambience is cute, but aisles are narrow, not spacious. I walk with a cane and it was a bit difficult to get around. Tables are TOO crowded and close to one another. Service was slow. The restaurant offers Japanese and Korean food. You get lots of menus to look at... it was a bit overwhelming. Each of us ordered the Japanese 3 Combo BENTO Box. It came with a HOT Miso soup and it was delicious. The food took a long time to arrive. The bento box was plentiful of each servings... Beef and Chicken teriyaki, Tonkatsu, Saba, Salmon, mixed tempura and california roll with added crispy flakes on top. Personally, I thought the teriyaki sauce was too sweet. I didn't like it. If I return, I'll ask for it on the side for dipping. Overall, it's more of 3 1/2 Stars rating... but, I gave it 4 stars because if you pay in CASH, they give you 10% off the Bill.. NICE!!!

420 happy meal

I'm amazed I haven't reviewed this place yet; I love it! Definitely one of my top go-to spots for sushi in town. Everything is fresh, the staff is friendly and accommodating as needed without issue, and price point is normal range but quality is superb. Their salmon skin roll is one of the best I've ever had. I am a bad yelper in that I eat it too fast to take pictures every time. The roll has perfectly crispy salmon skin, cucumber, and carrot and served over unagi sauce. So delicious I want to lick the plate. The 420 is amazing as well. The seared scallop is light, fresh, and perfectly seared while still keeping the integrity of the freshness. So many excellent and creative combinations to choose from. They are happy to let you create or leave it up to the chef to be creative. I love this place!

The sushi place I went to the previous night left me unsatisfied and yearning for more and better sushi. As an introvert, I prefer to come to restaurants on their off hours. To my surprise, even at 1:30 PM the place was busy. There were plenty of tables, but there were also plenty of patrons. Most of them were Korean, which is always a good sign when you go to a Korean/Japanese restaurant. The server and she was the only one was extremely nice. In her younger days, I'm sure she would've passed for a K-pop star. I knew what I wanted from the menu because I searched their website the night before. I ordered the 25 piece sashimi dish. It comes with a salad and miso soup. The salad was tasty with a nice light dressing that didn't overpower the other foods. The miso soup was perfect. It was not too salty as the other place that I had visited. The star of the afternoon was the sashimi plate. It came out on the bed of ice that was huge! My eyes bulged when I saw how much food was on there. In today's shrink-flation I was expecting smaller portions but I was wrong. There were so many varieties of fish that all tasted amazing. I'm not a big fan of octopus, but this one was perfect. It wasn't chewy and the sizes were small enough to fit in my mouth without feeling like I ate a large rubber band. I'm not sure of all the fish that were on there, but most of them would qualify as my favorites. I'm so glad they did not add the omelette thingy that I absolutely hate. Between the sashimi, the miso soup, and the salad I was completely satisfied and happy. I know there are other places in Santa Rosa that are probably better, but this will be my go to place when I'm craving sushi sashimi. They also have Korean dishes, but I've not tried any of them yet. Perhaps the next visit, I will try them out. Maybe what I will do is order the smaller 15 pieces and add a Korean dish. Many thanks to the chefs and the server for a magnificent experience.g

Other than that nothing too notable to rave about in this review. No ability to make reservations online and no menu to view start the customer experience off on a pretty bad note. Food is satisfactory.... Your standard hibachi grill. I do understand that with these hibachi tables offering online reservations can be a challenge as it's a game of Tetris making sure each table is filled with the right combinations of party sizes. If this is why they prefer a manual/call in reservation then at least verbalize that on your website.... Instead of having a "reservations" link that just take you to a "page 404 not found" error. It's just frustrating as a customer.
