    Toro Delight Roll
    Angela C.

Wow! This is such a good sushi place; and they even make their own soy sauce! The Salmon Sicilian app was luscious. The Toro delight was such a wonderful combination of flavors and the Lion Queen roll was simply decadent. I cannot wait to go back!

We stopped in here recently because we were in the area, and another sushi place we go to was too busy. We were so glad we did! the service was on point from the we walked through the door. Our server, Yue, was amazing! she gave us her tips, and helps us curate an absolutely delightful tour of the menu. We started with oysters that were supremely fresh and perfectly shucked - they were also topped with tobiko which was amazing! we followed that up with hamachi, tatake (which was amazing aged toro which was absolutely spectacular!). we also had a delicious hamachi kama! they make their oak soy sauce- and it is delicious - soft and slightly sweet. I could go on, but it odd probably best to just leave it at : Go try Shiki - it may be the best sushi in Santa Rosa!

    Tuna and Salmon Nigiri

First off, they source high quality fish and it shows. The Tuna and Salmon nigiri were 5/5. The salmon was rich and buttery and melts in your mouth. Smooth and tender not mushy or chewy. They tuna was fresh and not fishy. And the sushi rice was done well. We had a server who was passionate about the food and explained their chef takes pride in his work and is picky about fish quality he accepts. The salmon is Scottish salmon known for its balanced flavor and reliable texture. They would love to provide New Zealand Ora King Salmon, but it would be too pricey. Love that they are open to sharing where they source their fish. I like the updated decor much brighter than before. I also tried their saba and Tekka Maki which I would rate 4/5. Overall 4.5/5 rounding up because of service. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.

This is my new favorite spot in Santa Rosa for sushi. I'm a big fan of presentation and this place has it down . Every bite was flavorful and delicious. The staff were prompt with anything we needed and asked for . We will definitely be coming back .

Was in Santa Rosa for a comedy show and saw the good reviews! They did not disappoint. Fantastic service, so friendly and attentive- the food was delicious and fresh. If I didn't live 1 1/2 hours away, I would be a regular.

    Calamari

We came here during lunch and ordered the 3-item bento box with salmon teriyaki, saba, and tempura. My husband got the lunch saba shioyaki. Both dishes were delicious and served in generous portions. We also ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was okay -- not the best we've had -- but the dipping sauce was really good and made up for it. The miso soup was delicious. The only issue we had was with the pricing. The menu listed the saba lunch special at around $16 and dinner at $20, but we were charged the dinner price. When we brought it up, the staff explained that the menu was from the previous restaurant and hasn't been updated, and that there's no distinction between lunch and dinner portions anymore. In our opinion, that's not fair to the customer -- if the menu is outdated, that should be communicated up front to avoid confusion. Updating the menu should be a priority when taking over a restaurant, especially when pricing changes. So just a heads up: double-check prices when ordering, as the menu might not reflect the current ones. Other than that, the food and overall experience were great!

So Sonoma County in terms of how some great eats are occasionally found in nondescript strip malls. Don't let the appearance of the surrounding bus stop and big box retailers fool you. This place is legit. We had to eat and run because we were going to see the Sonoma Symphony perform (follow me for my review on that), but they delivered a great japanese style meal quickly, at the right temperature, and with great flavor and presentation. The miso soup was pure Umami and my Teriyaki Salmon bento box was both generous and delicious. And reasonably priced at $17. My date found her Unagi to be nice and tender. The bathrooms are clean and the service was good.

Every time we go to see Shiki the sushi is better and better. The service as good as usual.

Sushi is my favorite meal, Hand down this is the best sushi I've ever had. It's dynamic, with infusion, and tons of flavors. Super fresh fish. The Jalepeno Sashimi was also extraordinary. Good atmosphere, excellent customer service.

WOW! What a great new sushi spot in Santa Rosa! I first noticed the welcoming atmosphere on a chilly evening--it felt so warm and inviting inside. The server (unfortunately I didn't catch his name) took such great care of us. One of our group has a gluten allergy and he reassured her that he would take great care of her. She received a beautiful extra special roll that she loved. Another friend tried the Green Curry Ramen, concerned it might be too spicy. The server assured her it was more sweet than spicy, though she did find it had more heat than expected. Overall the experience was great. The food and service were excellent and the atmosphere was perfect for 4 friends who needed to catch up on life.

the best sushi in santa rosa!!! everytime i have eaten here, the fish is consistently fresh and buttery, the food is plated beautifully, and the flavors are superb. their seasonal specials are also so thoughtful and use seasonal flavors creatively. the interior has a very relaxing and clean atmosphere, they have bar seating, tables, and booths. the service is incredible, the owners, chefs, and servers are very attentive and friendly. my favorites are any of the carpaccios, the toro delight roll, and the chef's choice sashimi, but honestly anything pictured has been delicious. shiki is truly a neighborhood gem and they deserve so much more exposure!!

Rainbow roll with tobiko on right. Another yummy roll on the left.

This is the best sushi I've had in Santa Rosa. They have quality fresh fish clearly flown in daily with creative and artistic presentation.

Updating prior review…read more.. I used to come here a lot and really enjoyed it. Decided to give them a try after going to some other sushi places for a bit, so it was a nostalgia trip. They have also just completed an expansion and remodel which added more seating, and opened up the restaurant with a bit. They still use the iPad based ordering system which I always like, since it allows for better pacing. While before I praised them, this time left more to be desired. The sheen seems to have come off. Not sure if they changed chefs, but fish did not seem as fresh, sauces were a lot more heavy handed (overkill), and it just didn't feel as clean tasting as it used to. Maybe an off night, but not nearly as good as I remembered it to be. They have more cute robots now - and the bee decor makes it feel more like a proper restaurant. Though they have a wide menu - I would probably encourage sushi lovers to look elsewhere. The ramen, fried rice, dumplings and bento boxes are probably a stronger suit here now. They also seem to be doing a lot of take out service now as well.

The sushi place I went to the previous night left me unsatisfied and yearning for more and better sushi. As an introvert, I prefer to come to restaurants on their off hours. To my surprise, even at 1:30 PM the place was busy. There were plenty of tables, but there were also plenty of patrons. Most of them were Korean, which is always a good sign when you go to a Korean/Japanese restaurant. The server and she was the only one was extremely nice. In her younger days, I'm sure she would've passed for a K-pop star. I knew what I wanted from the menu because I searched their website the night before. I ordered the 25 piece sashimi dish. It comes with a salad and miso soup. The salad was tasty with a nice light dressing that didn't overpower the other foods. The miso soup was perfect. It was not too salty as the other place that I had visited. The star of the afternoon was the sashimi plate. It came out on the bed of ice that was huge! My eyes bulged when I saw how much food was on there. In today's shrink-flation I was expecting smaller portions but I was wrong. There were so many varieties of fish that all tasted amazing. I'm not a big fan of octopus, but this one was perfect. It wasn't chewy and the sizes were small enough to fit in my mouth without feeling like I ate a large rubber band. I'm not sure of all the fish that were on there, but most of them would qualify as my favorites. I'm so glad they did not add the omelette thingy that I absolutely hate. Between the sashimi, the miso soup, and the salad I was completely satisfied and happy. I know there are other places in Santa Rosa that are probably better, but this will be my go to place when I'm craving sushi sashimi. They also have Korean dishes, but I've not tried any of them yet. Perhaps the next visit, I will try them out. Maybe what I will do is order the smaller 15 pieces and add a Korean dish. Many thanks to the chefs and the server for a magnificent experience.g

I even made the joke... "Did they go to Japan to make our roll & nigiri?" Overall, I would probably not return. The waiters were nice but the sushi chef's were very slow. Maybe because they weren't Japanese and were baffled by nigiri's? Whatever the reason, nigiri's should not take over 30 minutes to serve, especially when there are only 3 tables. Time is priceless... And when it's spent over 30 minutes waiting for a meal, it's time wasted...
