Love, love, LOVE this spot in Downtown Cotati. Food is always delicious and fresh, and the prices seem reasonable for outstanding Japanese food (especially in this area). Deducted one star for the unfortunate reality that they are sometimes very understaffed, which can result in long wait times, servers rushing around and the occasionally sticky table. All being said, try to sit on their small patio out back which is adorably decorated with vintage Japanese movie posters and memorabilia. You may have to be patient, but you will not be disappointed!

Cute spot in downtown Cotati. The service was very good and the food came out quickly. The seaweed salad was good. The poke salad was too much lettuce and felt like it's fluffed up for no reason. The pieces of tuna were good. The sushi rolls were a blend of flavors. Really like the crazy ninja and Ken Chan. The salmon creek was not my thing but my partner enjoyed it. Overall I think I would come back but there are other similar options for this level of flavor.

So many choices of sushi in the area.. Decided to stop here... No Regrets! Cute shop... and decor.. Reminded me of the tv Midnight Diner.. Ordered the cucumber salad with shrimp- carpaccio - dragon roll and Shige roll.. I am really critical on the cucumber salad-- and there are so many places that do not have enough seasonings.. This had the right amount of rice vinegar and sugar.. The rolls were big and filling.. Carpaccio was delish! Definitely coming back!

I used to go to Shige all the time when I was in college, and it was always my favorite place for sushi. My boyfriend and I would stop by every weekend when he came to visit, and it never disappointed. We recently stayed in Rohnert Park for a weekend and decided to stop by again and it was just as amazing as I remembered! The sushi is still fresh, delicious, and well-priced. Plus, the owner is super nice and welcoming. If you're in the area and craving sushi, you have to try Shige. It's the best!!

Food was good, fish was fresh. There could be a little more spice and seasoning but that's my only thought regarding the food. There could be some improvements to how they seat customers and then remember they sat them lol. We sat at the bar and after 10 minutes I flagged someone down. After that things were fine. Very nice hole in the wall, decor was cool lots of non dusty objects to look at, especially at the sushi bar. There's an outside area as well. Recommend a reservation as it was packed and a wait had started after we got there.

Great food and service. And a decent selection of sake. The décor is warm and cozy and very casual. We will return often.

I had Tempura veggies and shrimp. Delicious! It's a very small restaurant but it does have an outside area for dining.

Are there more than 5 stars available?!…read more HUGE shoutout to the staff at ParadiseSushi on Rohnert Park Expressway. Yesterday I was selling some stuff on B FB Marketplace yesterday and had stuffed the cash into my sweatshirt pocket. Hubs and decided to go have lunch at Paradise Sushi and I forgot about the cash in my pocket. In the car- driving home, I realized it was gone. We turned around and drove back and the serving I walked through the door- without me saying a word- two staff members immediately handed me the money and said you dropped this. They had a note paper clipped on the money with the table number and date and time, and had apparently been looking up my rewards info to try to get in touch with me. Great honest staff members- have always really enjoyed this place- wonderful staff, good fresh food, they are centered on my good side now for sure!

The food itself was enjoyable; however, several hygiene and maintenance issues stood out as…read moreconcerning. Dust buildup and visible dust bunnies hanging from light fixtures were an immediate red flag. The sushi chefs appeared unshaven, with more facial hair than is typically expected in that role, which added to my unease. The bar surface was sticky, and the curtain separating the kitchen when considered alongside the other observations created an uncomfortable "what are they concealing?" impression. While the staff was friendly and service was adequate, the overall environment suggested lapses in cleanliness and upkeep. I also found it notable that there were no Asian chefs present, and this was the first sushi establishment I've visited without clean shaven sushi chefs, which is generally standard practice and, in this context, felt like another warning sign.At least the women's bathroom was clean. Out of an abundance of caution, I'm heading home to take a Pin-Rid deworming pill. FYI: in my younger days I worked as an HVAC/R service Tech and I seen a lot of kitchens and fronts . My Spidy senses are on point. Forewarned; * Traditional practice: In Japanese culinary culture, especially sushi, cleanliness and precision are part of the craft. Chefs are usually clean-shaven or have very neatly trimmed facial hair to minimize any hygiene risk and to project discipline and professionalism. * Food-safety optics: Sushi is raw food, so appearance matters more than in many other kitchens. Even when local health codes allow facial hair, best practice is either clean-shaven or using proper beard restraints. Many high-end sushi bars expect clean-shaven chefs as an unspoken standard. * Cultural expectation: In traditional omakase or classically trained settings, a clean-shaven look signals respect for the customer and the ingredients. It's not a written rule everywhere, but it's deeply ingrained in the culture. * Modern / non-traditional places: Some contemporary or fusion spots relax this standard, but they typically compensate with very visible sanitation practices (gloves, beard nets, immaculate counters). When those aren't present, it understandably raises concern.
