My husband and I checked this place out last night. We arrived around 5:45 and were seated right away - at that time, the place only had 2 other tables occupied, and 4 people at the bar. We received waters and menus very soon after being seated. The floor plan is open, and the place was clean. For beverages, if you're not drinking alcohol, the choices are pretty limited. Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Mountain Dew and Root Beer, and cranberry or orange juice and coffee. No iced tea, no sparkling water, no hot tea or hot cocoa. I don't know - that seemed odd to me. I mean even Olive Garden has some fun non alcoholic drinks on their menu. I stuck with water, and my husband ordered cranberry juice. We ordered the zucchini cheese sticks for an appetizer, which we both really liked. Crispy breading, nice chunks of zucchini, and a great marinara dipping sauce. It was a nice sized appetizer for us. For entrees, I ordered the halibut, my husband ordered the Coyote burger. Here's where the wheels fell off the wagon. First of all, the price for the halibut entree said market price, and it was expensive, so I fully expected fresh halibut. It was clearly frozen - pet peeve of mine. It's July in Anchorage. It was OK, but there was a lot of dill sauce, and the halibut was fishy. Everything on the plate was swimming in sauce. When the server brought my plate, the sides were missing except for a few very squishy vegetables swimming in sauce underneath the halibut. I was told my sides would be coming separately, and they did, about 10 minutes later. The vegetable side was also OK, but the veggies were dripping in oil, and there was a lot of broccoli stems, lower asparagus stems, and hard carrots. The mix also included some red bell peppers that were overdone to the point of squish. I have to say I did LOVE the Parmesan garlic mashed potatoes - I could happily live off of those. My husband said the Coyote burger was a disappointment. Similar to other reviews of this item, the burger itself was thin, the special sauce was most likely Thousand Island dressing, and the meat was under-seasoned. For the price, it was underwhelming. For both of us, the portion sizes were good - even maybe too much for mine. But if I'm paying that kind of money for a halibut entree, it should be fresh, and the quality of everything on the plate should be stellar. We only saw our server when food was brought out - we had to flag them down to get more water. We left without ordering dessert, and I hate to say we won't be coming back. We both had really high hopes for this place. Maybe it was just an off night. read more

Customer service is terrible,(unless they know you,) every plate they served was prepared differently even though it was the same plate, lots and lots of salt, the shrimp was cold, steak was under cooked and the rice was drowning.. only thing good was a beer and it thankfully came in a can. The menu items were over priced, we waited roughly 20 mins for our food, we also noticed bread or chips was not offered while guest waited. We had drinks, appetizer of coconut prawn and dinner. Lamb chops and new York steak. To prawns were delicious however the sauce was straight from the bottle, Mae ploy sweet chili sauce, could have used a little livening up! I asked for sriacha and they were out. I ordered my New York Strip medium rare, came out close to well done. I told the server and he gladly asked for re-fire and turned out better. My honey had the lab chops. The menu says it was served with risotto and he received mash potatoes instead. He said they were lumpy and not creamy and smooth you would expect from a mashed potato. A little disappointing because if you see on the menu risotto served with your dish - you expect it. Three of us were here for the first time. It has nice decor, very clean and we were seated immediately. I was disappointed in the avocado salad ($14) because it came drenched in what tasted like raspberry bottled dressing and the modest serving came in a deep bowl which added to a soggy mess. Adding more greens and serving in something shallower would help. The fried coconut shrimp (6) appetizer was very tasty, but seemed no different than what you can buy frozen.The steak ($35) with mushrooms was fine and came with carrots, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Our server was polite and attentive and presented a free dessert to the birthday guest which was much appreciated. The margarita was very good. If I return I will probably just come for drinks and appetizers. Was hoping this was going to be a hidden gem, but sadly we were disappointed. While we was seated quickly our server took a very long time to great us, and the restaurant was empty. When he finally came over we gave our drink orders and he disappeared. After a while we were given our drinks, and gave out appetizer order. When the apps came we had no share plates and when we were almost done he finally came back and we asked for share plates and gave our dinner order. We finally got plates before our entrees came, which was fast. Food was good, but nothing super special. Overall the food was good but the service was missing in many areas. If you get the wings you simply must try the house hot sauce. Perfect blend of heat and flavor. Not too hot but hot enough to still have flavor. Honestly, all the apps are amazing. The Entrees: The Honey Dijon Pork Chop was described by my wife as "more than good-unspeakably good". It was perfectly breaded and fried with the perfect amount of crispy, flavorful char. Huge portion. The Dijon sauce is the crown jewel on this dish. The bed of potatoes the chop rests on, soaks in the sauce and is the perfect side for the pork. The Honey Lime Shrimp is also beyond words. Again, the sauce is the cornerstone of this sublime dish. Served on a bed of mixed veggies, the shrimp taken on a heavenly honey lime flair. The rice under the veggies absorbs the sauce for another exquisite side dish and another perfect side. The Desserts: Yet another area where no choice is bad! If you want a dessert fit for deity, then the cheesecake dip is a must! The creme brûlée is a very close second. The cheesecake dip is very light and fluffy, almost cloud like. It was OK, not great. The atmosphere was alright, it was open and clean, it felt like a Mexican restaurant for some reason, maybe the colors and paintings on the wall and familiar faces from some Mexican restaurants we frequent. The service is friendly, but the servers spent too much time chatting rather than checking in on tables, we were over halfway done before she checked in with us. The cheese stick appetizer was very good, a warm melty cheese with a zucchini wrap breaded and fried. I had the lamb chops and my husband had the coyote burger. The platting on the lamb was beautiful but there were some technical mistakes. Rather than the mushroom risotto that was on the menu it came out with mashed potatoes, that was disappointing, I wasn't informed that the substitution would be made, and I was really looking forward to the risotto. The lamb was under seasoned for my taste and didn't have a good crust on the outside, the vegetables were ok, too many broccoli stems, more then there was broccoli it self. The carrots lacked caramelization, and there was way to much Demi glacé, it covered the entire plate like a thick gravy. The burger my husband said was not very good at all, the patty was thin and under seasoned, it was a take on the Big Mac with the sauce and toppings, but not even as good, it was mostly bread. Definitely needs improvement. The fries were not like those that have been pictured, they were regular french fries, slightly soggy with a chipotle seasoning on them. We had the crème brûlée for desert, it was decent, but it had Hershey chocolate syrup at the bottom of the plate, rather than a good chocolate sauce. Because of their beautiful platting I was excited and expecting better flavors and execution. Also their soft drinks come from the bar soda gun and are therefore flat unlike if they had an actual soda fountain. Call me picky but when go out to eat and pay those prices I expect quality. read more

Went here for the first time last night. The service was fine, my issue is with the price and food. First, I ordered the lavender lemonade with lavender vodka, ginger beer and lime juice. I couldn't taste any alcohol, lime or ginger beer, just overwhelming lavender in addition to that drink coming in the smallest glass I've seen a drink come in. Second, the zucchini cheese sticks had zero flavor and almost zero zucchini. Third, after only a couple bites of my nearly $20 burger I was through. The brioche bun was totally stale, and when I asked for a cheddar cheese alternative because havarti isn't my favorite they put that fake American cheese that comes in the individual plastic slices at the store. I'd rather no cheese! The only reason this has two stars instead of 1 is that the baileys mouse dessert was fabulous. Sadly, I won't ever be returning to get it again. read more

Look over the menu and chose a chicken dish with next vegetables. The chicken was dry and it wasn't mixed vegetables. It was asparagus. It wouldn't be a big deal accept I don't like asparagus. Our meal came out one dish at a time instead of the whole table getting their plates at the same time with quite a bit of time in between things coming out. First time eating at Saint Coyote and I really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, our server was far from attentive or on top of his job. In fact, we were there for two hours and we never had our waters refilled after several requests. BUT, I hope that was just a fluke. We had the chiccharons and coconut prawns for appetizers and both were quite good. The coconut prawns were some of the best I have had. I had the chicken parmigiana. The noodles were aldente, the sauce a nice balance of sweet and savory and the chicken's breading was nice and crispy. My other friends had the eggplant parmigiana, the white cheddar spinach Alfredo, and the honey prawns. The only complaint was the over saucing of the prawns. The rice was drowning in the super sweet sauce. Finally, the desserts were okay, nothing spectacular, but the chocolate Baileys mousse was the favorite. read more

A tucked away gem of a place with great tasting food and drinks that don't disappoint.

We have never had service this good in Alaska. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful and their house sauces were incredible. My husband had the salmon, and I had the Alfredo and both were equally good. The cheesecake sauce was phenomenal, we will definitely be back! read more

Four of us decided to try out this newer place. Nice bar and nice layout, bigger than I had thought. We had wings as an appetizer and they were very dry, we did not even finish them! I had the chicken parmigiana, others had the eggplant parmigiana, a burger, and shrimp. The pasta was dry, the chicken was dry, the shrimp was over cooked! I had been wanting to try out Saint Coyote restaurant for a while and finally had a chance to do so last night. I had been hoping for a good quality dinner out with friends and was sorely disappointed! The appetizer started the evening off on the right foot - zucchini mozzarella cheese "sticks", battered and deep fried with a zesty marinara sauce - very yummy and all four of us enjoyed two orders. The main courses came and the evening meal started tto go down hill. The honey lime shrimp entree looked appealing. The sauce was overly sweet but manageable. The disappointment was that the "grilled" vegetables were soggy, especially the broccoli - it tasted like it had come out of a frozen vegetable medley and was overcooked and mushy - very un-appetizing. The rice was so-so. One positive, the dish had 10 good size shrimp. The polenta was good, creamy and cheesy. The Coyote burger was ordered by two of us and both diners expressed that they really didn't like the taste (ground chuck and brisket) and the burger meat was "chewy" and extremely overdone. Both of my friends only ate half of their burgers, taking the rest home to the family dog. They did like the the fried potato chunks. The chicken tortilla soup was a big disappointment - sorta bland and served in a bread bowl - the bread bowl did nothing to enhance the soup. We did decide to try two desserts thinking that maybe dessert would help save the meal. Once again we were disappointed. The chocolate Bailey's Irish cream mouse was heavy/dense and grainy! Mouse is meant to be light, airy and smooth...It looked beautiful however, the texture really left a great deal to be desired! The Apple pie bread pudding with caramel sauce was just "ok" - the sauce tasted like sweetened condensed milk with some caramel flavoring thrown in - very sad! The 4 meals with three alcoholic drinks came to around $130. Unfortunately, the lack of quality and taste wasn't nearly worth the price!
