    Grilled Blackened Halibut Burger
    Claudine R.

The good. The dirty soda was really good. Got the keto one. The side salad was fine. What I expected. The halibut burger though is the bad. They do give you a lot of halibut but it is very dry. Luckily I got sauces on the side so I could still eat it. But otherwise way too dry and overcooked.

We wanted a burger for dinner and this was recommended by a lot people so we figure we give it a try. Overall 3 Stars: I have mixed reviews on this place. I wanted to give a higher star rating but I honestly couldn't do it. Ambiance: 3.25 Stars - it is located on 76th ave and Old Seward in an industrial strip mall which is shared with a lot of small businesses. When entering, there a a few tables and front counter where you order. There is another room "reserved" for the Main Event" functions. Hence the name of the burger joint. There a lot more tables in there. They are known to "ward off vampires" due to their LOVE of garlic on their food items. Overall Food: 3.5 Stars Ordered: 1. 3.25 Stars Garlic Burger $17: Roasted garlic, garlic cream sauce, and more garlic load our already amazing burger, topped with melted provolone cheese. The burger was loaded with the garlic and provolone cheese, lettuce, onions and tomato but the meat itself was overcooked and dry. Plus the garlic is definitely the "main event" item. Personally a little too much for me cuz, I want to taste the meat itself. 2. 4 Stars Garlic Fries - it was served as a side to the burger. The fries were hot, fresh and crunchy. It was sprinkled with garlic and parsley I believe. When you burp the meal, any vampires, spouses or significant others near will run away or just melt into a pool of messiness. 3. 4 Stars - Grilled Blacken Burger $24. Alaskan Halibut seasoned with our signature blackened seasoning, topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion & a chipotle sauce. The halibut was properly seasoned, juicy and tender. Cooking halibut can be tricky depending on the thickness of the fish and the timing to pull it off the grill. The cook did a wonderful job. I could have ate two of them but they are expensive at $24. Ouch! That is why it is not a 5 star burger. As a side, I order regular tater tots instead of garlic fries. Another option is loaded tots where they add a lot of other stuff as a a topped. Staff: 3 Stars - we waited for about 5 minutes then finally had to ring for service. We can hear them in the back where the kitchen was but nobody was manning the front. Which was odd, cuz there were other customers waiting for their food too. After the bell was rung, the employee was friendly and efficient in taking our food. Also, we were short a garlic fries and the person said they will bring it out shortly. Then it got busy, and I finally had to ask them TWICE about it. After 30 minutes, we got them. I am glad we were able to share the other fries and tots while we waited. The employee apologized and gave us $5 coupon for the next visit. So would I come again? Yes, I would. There are many other sandwiches, salads and other food options. However, bring your wallet cuz it can get expensive if you are flipping the bill for a party of 3 or more.

Came to Main Event last week for the first time with a coworker who comes here often. We both ordered the Food Truck burger. I wasn't sure on their Awesome sauce so I asked to have that on the side. After tasting the sauce it was delicious but for me the burger was huge and I only ate 1/2 so I took the rest of my burger to go with the sauce. We also upgraded our fries to loaded tots and you talk about Yummy!! The restaurant was clean and they also had outside seating on this gorgeous day. I didn't see beer on the menu however I noticed a man purchase one and took his drink outside to wait for the delivery of his meal. The young lady at the counter was super nice while helping us and answering phone calls during lunch rush. I definitely will come back since I want to try their pizza rolls. I believe all the burgers a sandwich's come with fries. My burger was $14 before upgrading to super tots which was an additional $3 and well worth it since I had leftover tots to take home and they reheated up quite nicely. Very reasonable prices here!

Menu and the food looks like how you see it. No BS!

For me now this is the best burger in town. Pricing has gotten crazy at a bunch of burger places, these guys are still reasonable priced for a big burger and it comes with fries! The burgers are awesome and cool selection of flavors! It's definitely a hole in the wall location but it's in a district with a lot of workers and industrial! Their catering is also advertised and I have heard good things about it. This place is worth a try for burger and fries from 14-18$ and they are massive and delicious.

Solid 4.5 stars so we'll round up today since I definitely recommend this place to friends! Been here twice and another time take out and satisfied everytime. Definitely greasy and finger licking sooo wash it down with a soda! Garlic fries are indeed good! I wish it was skinny fries though for a better crunch!

    Carne asada grilled cheese

I'm assuming this is the same business as "Main Event Grill" on Doordash. They serve unhealthy comfort food and they do it well! If you're looking for a carbolicious breakfast or lunch, this is your spot! I've gotten the carne asada grilled cheese for lunch and their breakfast burrito for, well, breakfast. Both were substantial and hearty. But there standouts are really their sides. The bigass breakfast burrito came with tots. Tots with bacon on them! The tri-tip grilled cheese came with a soup that was one of the best soups I have EVER had in Anchorage. The generous cup of it came with a perfect dollop of goat cheese. (I honestly forget exactly what the soup was, I just remember it being incredible) I was going to give them 4-stars, but that soup put them over the edge. I think I'll try and get some for lunch...

Soggy, inedible 'garlic fries'. Half of the bread on the special 'guacamole chicken burger', soggy. How can you let something like that fly out your window? On top of the person at the desk telling me that he didn't have access to the ChowNow app because the iPad died & waiting 40 minutes for the app to not be a 'pending order', my food is completely soggy, if he didn't have access; why did this food sit there long enough to get soggy!?

Main Event food truck has been on my list of favorites for some time now. I sure do miss them during the winter months....until now. Welcome to the brick and mortar version of Main Event. Serving all of their classic food truck menu during the lunch hours, this has proven to be a quick, "in and out" stop with the option of calling my order in ahead of time. With the new 76th St. Access from Seward Hwy, it is easy to get to. It's nice to have some fresh choices for lunch on this end of town. I ordered the Reuben Burger with Tots. It came out surprisingly quickly - and hot! The tots were generously seasoned with garlic and parmigiana cheese. The burger was very good. Big beef patty cooked nicely and piled high with pastrami, sauerkraut, grilled onion, relish, and their special sauce, served on a brioche bun. It would have beeen much easier to eat without the giant beard that adorns my face, and if my jawbone were double-jointed. Work with what you've got. Eat hearty my friends.

My sister, my niece, and I ordered from here for the first time and we got the pork ribs, cheeseburger, hotdogs, baked beans, macaroni salad, and potato salad. The only problem was the hotdog just way too small to be worth $9.50, even if it comes with a small bag of chips. But, the flavor was freaking amazing! It tasted exactly like a barbecued hotdog should. It was totally worth it for me this time because she's amazing and is very generous! But as a regular basis thing, I'd go for it if money was no issue for me lol. Times are hard and inflation is high, so I get the higher prices, but I gotta watch me walket too. That's it. Only complaint lol. Otherwise is was freaking great! The sides were really good and flavorful. The macaroni salad was the most flavorful Ive ever purchased, as they are usually pretty bland. But all other macaroni salad has been trash compared to theirs lol. The potato salad was really good and the beans were super yummy! The hamburger was pretty good, lots of cheese, but we had to do some surprise errands and the box bounced around. We didn't get to eat until an hour later, so it soaked up all the juice from the pickle and was soggy with the juices of everything else by the time we got to it. Our fault, and it was still pretty good lol. But the ribs... My gracious. They were AMAZING! One of the reviews said they were dry and with lots of fat but I find that impossible. True, they weren't smothered in BBQ sauce in every crevice but even the non-covered parts were outrageously flavorful and perfectly moist. Maybe that person just doesn't normally eat pork ribs? There is bound to be some fat but on all of the many ribs we got, there was plenty of meat and the fat was minimal, and I was thankful lol. I hate a lot of fat, and it just wasn't anying more than normal pork ribs would have. But they definitely tasted better than normal lol. Just phenomenal! I'd spend my last $20 on that lol. But I, personally, would ask for extra BBQ sauce. Not because they are stingy with it or anything, I just.... I don't eat my food with some sauce, I eat my sauce with some food. I hate dry food lol. Which is why I can confidently say their ribs are not dry by any means! My sister and niece thought they were perfect, and my sister didn't want any ribs when I ordered lol. And most importantly, they are so super nice, and very generous! Very personable and great with communication. If the customer service isn't good, then it doesn't matter how good the food is and they certainly deliver in that, as well. Just an all in all fantastic experience. 5/5 stars. Would definitely recommend! *Update* I just had the left overs for dinner and it was still delicious the next day!

The beans were worse than you'd get out of a can. The coleslaw was dramatically underseasoned. It just tasted like shredded cabbage. The bread was as plain as can be. The only way I can recommend ordering from here is getting meat by the pound. The sides are offensive. I hope they can work on getting better sides, as the meat is decent.

So much of the pulled pork in this town is over honeyed/corn-syrup'd/glazed/etc. It came with crinkle fries and coleslaw. The slaw was a brilliant mix of sweet and zesty flavors, loved it. We stopped back by after and ordered the Denali Fries, Jambalaya, and a blackened catfish po boy. Yes, blackened catfish. I was also very skeptical. I must admit I was surprised at how amazing everything tasted. The blackened catfish sandwich was really good. The bread they use is so soft and chewy. The fish is flavorful and moist! The jambalaya was soooooooo good. Drool worthy good. Rice cooked perfectly. Flavor on point! Right amount of heat. Full of veggies and meat. Just phenomenal. The Denali fries were probably the most fulfilling and surprising entree. I thought it would be a side of fries just loaded up. No! It's the whole container! Loaded with perfectly cooked fries, cheese, meat, jalapeños, and bbq sauce. Every single fry was loaded up. I low key felt guilty ordering them because I only ordered them so I didn't have to share my food with the kids if they were peckish. No one finished them. I highly recommend the Denali fries if you're super duper hungry. Even if you're sharing. There's a lot of bang for your buck there. A lot goes into the pulled pork on top. And for all of us environmentally conscious people out there, they use 100% composting containers. The containers turn to soil within 90 days. There's literally no waste. The service was a 10 out of 10. Can't beat it. Very personable, knowledgeable, and nice. Super upbeat and fun. I recommend this food truck. If you see it be sure to stop. After we placed our order and the meat arrived as she was placing meat on the grill she dumped blood all over my side of the table and into my dipping sauces and I wondered if it was intentional, but I didnt say anything. Then she placed TWO WHOLE TRAYS OF MEAT ON THE GRILL at once which they are not supposed to do due to cross contamination and it takes too long for things to cook. Since you only have your table for 90 minutes, I also wondered if this was intentional. She didn't come back to check on us and I had to push the call bell to ask for help to turn up the heat since 20 minutes later the meat was still raw. Then when it was time to change to chicken they usually change the grill plate because the plate gets very smokey. She completely ignored us when I called for help. And when she finally did come back she let raw meat plates on our table, which I know they are not supposed to do. She kept giving us weird nasty looks- it was so strange. He opened his doors to us on Father's day as well. We are so appreciative that we had a place to gather and eat good food.
