My husband took me here for my birthday and while yes, I do like Korean food, I think he'd been meaning to come here for a long time. Service here was super. We were promptly greeted and seated. The restaurant was super clean and the exhaust fans were the best. They were also very keen on replacing a crisping grill plate as often as it was needed. Our hostess was also our server and she was so nice plus plenty of other servers checked in on us plenty. I think for two people and a child it was very reasonable in price. Maybe under $120 before tip including a soda and a few appetizers. The portions here are big as far as meat goes. And unlike other Korean bbq I've had, they kind of have you dump the meat on the grill and take the plate with them. It felt different but I have no issues with that. Towards the end I was stuffed and I think I'd recommend ordering maybe half an order of meat for the last round if you're not famished. My favorite dish was definitely the cheese corn really because I love esquites. My husband was a big fan of the japchae which was also worth getting. My three year old picky daughter enjoyed the pork belly and plain rice. This is definitely somewhere I'd come back to. They had great quality food and plenty of sides for me to chow down on. read more

We've been coming back sine they've opened! Great customer service, can be pricey but i personally think it's the best AYCE & kbbq spot in town! Place is always clean and service is always great, the quality of the food as well as quantity is always great. definitely would recommend great for groups or a date night. read more

Came here for our anniversary dinner and had a great time! The staff was super helpful, friendly and attentive. Marcus, Ray and Destiny made it such a comfortable experience. Marcus greeted us immediately and did a great job of explaining the ala cart or AYCE options. Destiny came to check in and spun another soju for us! Ray was friendly and even went the extra mile to run our forgotten card out to the car for us! The meat was fresh and delicious with their house sauces. We especially loved the bulgogi. So full and satisfied will be back! Thanks Gogi! read more

Everything about this place was off. Ordered galbi jjim and not the spicy one, and yet they brought out the spicy galbi jjim. They kindly remade it but gosh, I had to wait another 10-15 mins on top of what I waited during my first ordering attempt. I was so hungry after a full day of traveling. Anyhow, the galbi jjim came out and it was okay at best. Don't forget, this is Anchorage so you can't expect too much from Korean restaurants, but at least it didn't taste bad. Banchan was very limited and the only silver lining about my dining experience here was that young (I want to say filipino male) waiter who served my table. If I managed this restaurant, rule #1 would be to recognize talent and an employee's heart to serve and to position them within the business model accordingly. That young man should have a target promotional goal to supervisor or store manager. Every other female working New Year's night will not bring in raving reviews, repeated customers, 10's of thousands of increased net income per month. But what business owners in their right mind want 5 star Yelp reviews and to eventually become more and more rich? Do the math. read more

Came here for lunch on a girls day. This place is so nice! The vibe is super relaxed with the dark ambiance, could be so romantic for date nights. They have Korean bbq options or normal dishes to order. It's fairly reasonable pricing too! We didn't have time to do the bbq and each of us only paid $25-$35 for food and drinks! The food was soooooo good! All of it! Literally not one bad thing to say! The staff was incredibly kind too! We had arrow (I'm sure I'm not spelling it right) but he was so funny and friendly, it made our experience so fun! We decided this is our new go to for any Korean cravings we have!! Oh Gogi, what the heck? How the mighty have fallen. When have been excited to return, but where waiting for a beloved family member who was visiting from out of town to join us. When we arrived things we a little disorganized when they seated us, but the team was pleasant. But after that, things got weird. Our primary server Alaya had some seriously bad vibes that felt... directed at us. We watched the way she interacted with other people and it was definitely specific to our party. After we placed our order and the meat arrived as she was placing meat on the grill she dumped blood all over my side of the table and into my dipping sauces and I wondered if it was intentional, but I didnt say anything. Then she placed TWO WHOLE TRAYS OF MEAT ON THE GRILL at once which they are not supposed to do due to cross contamination and it takes too long for things to cook. Since you only have your table for 90 minutes, I also wondered if this was intentional. She didn't come back to check on us and I had to push the call bell to ask for help to turn up the heat since 20 minutes later the meat was still raw. Then when it was time to change to chicken they usually change the grill plate because the plate gets very smokey. She completely ignored us when I called for help. And when she finally did come back she let raw meat plates on our table, which I know they are not supposed to do. She kept giving us weird nasty looks- it was so strange. We were nice to her- i have no idea what her issue was. On our way out, we mentioned to the cashier how Alaya had ruined our experience. She asked if it felt "targeted"- so I think they've gotten, other complaints about her. We spent over $2oo on a 3 person meal, but i can assure you we won't be back if we're going to be treated like that. I'll save my business for WonJo. read more

Did a pick up run and the food was decent! Ordered the spicy stir fried squid and the tteokbokki. Both were yummy with the perfect amount of spicy - not too much so you can't eat another bite but enough to still be able to taste the food. The banchan they also packed up with the order was delicious with at least five different items! The waitress and the gentleman that took my ordered and packed it up were so friendly and informative! I will be going and taking my family and friends to sit and try out the AYCE soon! read more

First off--come hungry. Gogi BBQ seriously delivers when it comes to flavor, fun, and good vibes. If you're looking for a solid Korean BBQ spot in Anchorage, this is the place. We went with the Combination Beef Special BBQ and added Shrimp & Pork Belly-- it was so worth it. The meat selection and quality is awesome--wagyu beef brisket, thick pork belly, huge shrimp, ribeye, beef belly, sirloin--you name it. Everything was fresh, well-marinated, and super flavorful. Side dipping sauces were delicious as well. Grilling at the table is always a good time, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. Wash it down with some quality hot sake or a ice cold beer-- perfect! The banchan (side dishes) were on point & refilled multiple times!--kimchi, fish cakes, pickled radish, spicy tofu soup and much more. Everything tasted homemade and added a nice balance to the richness of the BBQ. Also, don't skip the japchae--it's packed with flavor. Service was friendly and quick, and the whole place has a fun, casual vibe (felt like I was in the lower 48). Perfect for a group dinner, date night, or even just treating yourself. Will 100% be coming back. Easily one of my new favorite spots in town. read more

Come hungry! My friend and I came here for my birthday. Excellent service, beautifully decorated place and delicious food. We were so full when we left and we had leftover for the next day with the meat and all the side dishes they bought out. We got Combination A and a couple drinks. Authentic Korean BBQ experience. It was fun grilling our food. The server was very attentive. I been back a few times for go to; mostly just to get tofu stew. That was tasty as well. Would highly recommend and will come back. read more

The food and the overall AYCE menu had many options to choose from, and the service was great.

South Anchorage has a new Korean BBQ! I was able to visit ahead of their grand opening, on a weekday afternoon. We were one of 3 tables dining. Gogi is located next to Asia Garden on Old Seward Road. Their mostly black decor is sleek and refreshing. The interior is swanky and clean. They have made great use of their space. You can tell Gogi spared no expense when it came to their ventilation system. Each table has a fancy call button so you don't have to wave your server down. Our server was a young man with a great sense of humor. He did a great job of explaining the menu and options to us. We went with combo B for 3-4 people $200 and it was a ton of food. Meats + 2 salads + 2 specialty sides + traditional Korean side dishes. We ended up taking a full to-go plate home. Next time we plan to order Ala carte. Shortly after receiving our meats and getting the grill going, a woman, who we assume is the owner, came to hang out and help us. We appreciated it. Perhaps it would've taken all afternoon to cook our meats if it had not been for her. She had great tips and instilled confidence in us for next time. Our server came over to change our grill top 2x during our visit. Cleanliness and not burning your meats is prioritized here. We ended our meal with yummy (cold) cinnamon tea. I loved it and took down my entire tables' (they weren't fans) haha! The only improvement this place can make is serving beer/wine/liquor. A bar top is in thee building...so likely coming soon. We would've loved some soju okaaaaayyy?! We can't wait to return! read more

Checked out Gogi in Anchorage and it definitely lived up to the hype. The staff was super friendly and on top of everything without being overbearing. They gave solid recommendations and even offered to start grilling the meats for us, which was a nice gesture and made the whole experience feel easy and chill. Prices are honestly very reasonable for Alaska, especially for Korean BBQ. They have a variety of tasty banchan--everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and there was a good variety to keep things interesting between bites. Overall, great food, great service, and just an all-around good spot to hang out, eat way too much meat, and have a good time. Definitely coming back. read more

We let our waitress know right away that it was our first time dining here. While I've been to Korean BBQ before, I asked for guidance on whether à la carte or all-you-can-eat would be better. À la carte meats were priced around $30-$50 per dish, while AYCE was about $45-$60 per person. The waitress explained that if you know what meat you want, à la carte is better, and if not, AYCE lets you start with three dishes and go from there. I'm thinking sampler size and you can try more. Based on that explanation, from a list of 20+ meats, we ordered three AYCE items to start: chicken, beef, and pork. I thought they'd be proportionate to the number of people at the table (2 adults and a child). What we didn't expect was that each "dish" would arrive as a full dinner-plate-sized portion--roughly 2 lbs of meat per plate. For just two adults, that amounted to an overwhelming amount of food, far more than we could reasonably eat. At no point were we warned that three plates would be excessive, especially for first-timers. When the bill came, we were told we could either pay an extra $35 to take the leftovers home or pay $30 (20% of the bill) for them to dispose of the food. That was extremely frustrating, considering we relied on the server's guidance when ordering. After voicing my concerns, the charge was eventually removed, but it took complaining to resolve it, which really soured the experience. As for the food itself, the meat was underwhelming--very fatty, looked less than fresh, and lacked flavor compared to other KBBQ spots I've been to. Overall, between the lack of clear guidance, the uncomfortable billing situation, and the mediocre quality of the meat, I don't see myself returning. read more

Had to come and try this new restaurant. Very modern interior and the parking lot was full when we arrived. First for 2 people unless you have a huge appetite most of the combos would be too much food. We ordered off the A la carte, the ribeye and pork belly and then for the sides the bibimbap and soybean stew. They bring out 2 salads and several small sides like kimchi, pickled veggies.... The soybean stew was hands down our favorite and then the bibimbap. So much food!!! It was fun cooking the meats to your liking. It is pricey but delicious. read more

The food was amazing! The service was top notch. Staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable about anything that we asked about on the menu. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for something different than the ordinary. We had marinated chicken breast, shrimp, scallops, thinly sliced beef brisket. Relaxed atmosphere. Would be great for casual or semi formal dress. read more

I'm honestly really disappointed with my experience at Gogi tonight. The food was good, but the service was slow and disconnected. We were a party of four adults and a 3-month-old baby who obviously didn't eat anything. What really pushed me over the edge was the bill. Their own menu clearly states that automatic gratuity applies to parties of five or more. Instead of following their policy, they counted a 3-month-old infant as a "fifth person" just so they could add auto-gratuity. That's ridiculous. A newborn isn't ordering food, isn't taking up a seat, and shouldn't be used to bump a tip without consent. I tip well when service earns it -- but sneaking in auto-gratuity by counting a baby feels dishonest and disrespectful. It left a bad taste after an already slow experience. If this is how they're treating customers now, it needs to be called out. Fix your policy or follow the one you print on your own menu. read more

Clean, smooth atmosphere. Got seated right away, the food was delivered quickly. We ordered the Waygu brisket, kalbi rib, the spicy bulgogi, and kimchi fried rice- it was hands down the most delicious dinner I've had here in Anchorage. I love that we got to cook it to our liking. The meats were so fresh and beautifully prepared, authentic, very flavorful, & just top tier quality. Highly recommended! read more

Gogi - Kimchi fried rice - Korean Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

Came here on a Sunday at 2pm and it wasn't very busy. We weren't very hungry, just looking for something small and craving Korean bbq before our flight out of town. We didn't order a combo. It's required to order two bbq meats so that's what we did, ordered the thinly sliced brisket and calamari and nothing else. We also asked for water. After we got our food, someone else came by to help throw it on the bbq and turn it over a couple times. That was the last time we saw our server. They never brought us water and when she came over to throw the meat on the bbq she asked if we wanted rice and we said yes. Rice never showed. We ate and left. Didn't wait for the check as our servers were nowhere to be found. Paid at the front and left. Food was good. Banchan decent but the service was appalling. Which sucks because I would've come back the next time I was in town and actually ordered a combo/gone all out. read more

So we thought to try this place , walked in a got seated right away (4 of us), and sat there for 30 minutes with no service while people around us that got there after us got water, ordered and had food being cooked for them. Way too expensive, not enough food. Combo B is $200 for 3-4 people. All 4 of us went home hungry... Flavors do not have enough Korean flavor, No spice, just to tame and safe. Have to say that the food is not bad, nor excellent: the thing is that the restaurant is grossly overpriced. Came in with two people, and paid $150 (tips not included) for a two-person combo. There was a premium combo for $250, which is even more ridiculous. Would not come here again. read more

So much hype in the reviews that I just had to try it - not paying attention to the few, very negative ones. Well, we should have listed to the nay sayers - totally overpriced and very meager portions. What are they thinking - the much touted side dishes for the $300 meal were about a total of 1 cup each and no seconds! Feeding between 3-5 people -NO!! No wonder they include mandatory generous tip in the bill..... read more
