Oh Gogi, what the heck? How the mighty have fallen. When have been excited to return, but where waiting for a beloved family member who was visiting from out of town to join us. When we arrived things we a little disorganized when they seated us, but the team was pleasant. But after that, things got weird. Our primary server Alaya had some seriously bad vibes that felt... directed at us. We watched the way she interacted with other people and it was definitely specific to our party. After we placed our order and the meat arrived as she was placing meat on the grill she dumped blood all over my side of the table and into my dipping sauces and I wondered if it was intentional, but I didnt say anything. Then she placed TWO WHOLE TRAYS OF MEAT ON THE GRILL at once which they are not supposed to do due to cross contamination and it takes too long for things to cook. Since you only have your table for 90 minutes, I also wondered if this was intentional. She didn't come back to check on us and I had to push the call bell to ask for help to turn up the heat since 20 minutes later the meat was still raw. Then when it was time to change to chicken they usually change the grill plate because the plate gets very smokey. She completely ignored us when I called for help. And when she finally did come back she let raw meat plates on our table, which I know they are not supposed to do. She kept giving us weird nasty looks- it was so strange. We were nice to her- i have no idea what her issue was. On our way out, we mentioned to the cashier how Alaya had ruined our experience. She asked if it felt "targeted"- so I think they've gotten, other complaints about her. We spent over $2oo on a 3 person meal, but i can assure you we won't be back if we're going to be treated like that. I'll save my business for WonJo.

Came here for lunch on a girls day. This place is so nice! The vibe is super relaxed with the dark ambiance, could be so romantic for date nights. They have Korean bbq options or normal dishes to order. It's fairly reasonable pricing too! We didn't have time to do the bbq and each of us only paid $25-$35 for food and drinks! The food was soooooo good! All of it! Literally not one bad thing to say! The staff was incredibly kind too! We had arrow (I'm sure I'm not spelling it right) but he was so funny and friendly, it made our experience so fun! We decided this is our new go to for any Korean cravings we have!! LOOVVEEE

Everything about this place was off. Ordered galbi jjim and not the spicy one, and yet they brought out the spicy galbi jjim. They kindly remade it but gosh, I had to wait another 10-15 mins on top of what I waited during my first ordering attempt. I was so hungry after a full day of traveling. Anyhow, the galbi jjim came out and it was okay at best. Don't forget, this is Anchorage so you can't expect too much from Korean restaurants, but at least it didn't taste bad. Banchan was very limited and the only silver lining about my dining experience here was that young (I want to say filipino male) waiter who served my table. If I managed this restaurant, rule #1 would be to recognize talent and an employee's heart to serve and to position them within the business model accordingly. That young man should have a target promotional goal to supervisor or store manager. Every other female working New Year's night will not bring in raving reviews, repeated customers, 10's of thousands of increased net income per month. But what business owners in their right mind want 5 star Yelp reviews and to eventually become more and more rich? Do the math.

First off--come hungry. Gogi BBQ seriously delivers when it comes to flavor, fun, and good vibes. If you're looking for a solid Korean BBQ spot in Anchorage, this is the place. We went with the Combination Beef Special BBQ and added Shrimp & Pork Belly-- it was so worth it. The meat selection and quality is awesome--wagyu beef brisket, thick pork belly, huge shrimp, ribeye, beef belly, sirloin--you name it. Everything was fresh, well-marinated, and super flavorful. Side dipping sauces were delicious as well. Grilling at the table is always a good time, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. Wash it down with some quality hot sake or a ice cold beer-- perfect! The banchan (side dishes) were on point & refilled multiple times!--kimchi, fish cakes, pickled radish, spicy tofu soup and much more. Everything tasted homemade and added a nice balance to the richness of the BBQ. Also, don't skip the japchae--it's packed with flavor. Service was friendly and quick, and the whole place has a fun, casual vibe (felt like I was in the lower 48). Perfect for a group dinner, date night, or even just treating yourself. Will 100% be coming back. Easily one of my new favorite spots in town.

Come hungry! My friend and I came here for my birthday. Excellent service, beautifully decorated place and delicious food. We were so full when we left and we had leftover for the next day with the meat and all the side dishes they bought out. We got Combination A and a couple drinks. Authentic Korean BBQ experience. It was fun grilling our food. The server was very attentive. I been back a few times for go to; mostly just to get tofu stew. That was tasty as well. Would highly recommend and will come back.

South Anchorage has a new Korean BBQ! I was able to visit ahead of their grand opening, on a weekday afternoon. We were one of 3 tables dining. Gogi is located next to Asia Garden on Old Seward Road. Their mostly black decor is sleek and refreshing. The interior is swanky and clean. They have made great use of their space. You can tell Gogi spared no expense when it came to their ventilation system. Each table has a fancy call button so you don't have to wave your server down. Our server was a young man with a great sense of humor. He did a great job of explaining the menu and options to us. We went with combo B for 3-4 people $200 and it was a ton of food. Meats + 2 salads + 2 specialty sides + traditional Korean side dishes. We ended up taking a full to-go plate home. Next time we plan to order Ala carte. Shortly after receiving our meats and getting the grill going, a woman, who we assume is the owner, came to hang out and help us. We appreciated it. Perhaps it would've taken all afternoon to cook our meats if it had not been for her. She had great tips and instilled confidence in us for next time. Our server came over to change our grill top 2x during our visit. Cleanliness and not burning your meats is prioritized here. We ended our meal with yummy (cold) cinnamon tea. I loved it and took down my entire tables' (they weren't fans) haha! The only improvement this place can make is serving beer/wine/liquor. A bar top is in thee building...so likely coming soon. We would've loved some soju okaaaaayyy?! We can't wait to return!

Had to come and try this new restaurant. Very modern interior and the parking lot was full when we arrived. First for 2 people unless you have a huge appetite most of the combos would be too much food. We ordered off the A la carte, the ribeye and pork belly and then for the sides the bibimbap and soybean stew. They bring out 2 salads and several small sides like kimchi, pickled veggies.... The soybean stew was hands down our favorite and then the bibimbap. So much food!!! It was fun cooking the meats to your liking. It is pricey but delicious.

This is our second time here & it was just as good as the first. Our server Destiny was so delightful. I love the ambiance and the flavor of the food! Personal favorite is the spicy bulgogi. Will be returning :)

But the macaroni salad...weird? Or am I missing something? It tasted like run of the meal, store bought macaroni salad. Is it for the non fermenters? Cause that ain't me! Those fermented side dishes were the stars, until the bibimbap came out. The clay pot was more a large plate, but it was HOT and it made the rice exactly like I like it: crispy on the bottom and soft on the top. All the accoutrements were tasty and blended well with the rice and sauce. I wasn't sure what each of them were, so I tried a little bit at a time. They all had some unique savory flavors. In the end I mixed them all together for a final flash and bang of flavor. Service was excellent. Maybe the owner, maybe the manager was also seated at the bar and he stopped by at the end of my meal to ask about everything. Friendly and professional. The restaurant is clean and has great lighting. When one walks in, the bbq side is to the right and there is a bar area to the left. There is both tables and bar seating.

I'd give this place 4 stars-- it was a good overall experience. I didn't get to try the BBQ side,…read moreso I'll definitely have to come back for that. The vibe inside was a bit confusing--it looks upscale and fancy, with a full piano by the bar seating area, yet serves traditional Korean dishes that aren't particularly fancy in presentation. That contrast threw me off a bit. The food was decent overall. Portion sizes were generous for the price, which I appreciated. However, I wasn't impressed with the egg custard--it had an odd burnt BBQ taste that didn't sit well with the dish. Honestly, I've had more flavorful, higher-quality Korean meals at some of the smaller, more homey spots in town. That said, the service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. I especially loved the quick banchan refills!

The one and only server was very nice, but being the only one, twice when new parties entered he would walk away. Wife ordered chicken katsu rice plate. The overall theme is everything is bland. EVERYTHING.. Her cabbage slaw/salad had a white creamy sauce, my best guess is mayo mixed with ranch but only if both was every kind of free there is, fat, sugar, carb, keto, and most importantly, taste FREE. Her rice was purple, there were purple chunks, not sure if it was potato, the rice was mushy, wet, and Bland. Her kutsu sauce was made from the same everything free ingredients. Come on man, Kutsu sauce is 3 ingredients and all three are bold flavors, how do you mess that up. But ok, they want to be fusion, maybe add some cilantro or chili. She asked for soy sauce and salt to try and add some flavor. Half way through she has me hold out my hand and pours a handful of the "salt" from the shaker. It was not salt granules, almost looked like a salt substitute. I honestly don't know what it was but when I tasted it I would be extremely generous by saying I got a 25% salt flavor. Normally, you put 2-4 tablespoons of salt in your hand and lick your finger, when you taste that, you get a powerful punch in the mouth of dam, that's salty. I was dumbfounded, if they are using that "salt" to cook with them makes since why everything is so bland. I don't want to repeat the Bland Bland Bland theme over and over. I had bulgogi, kutsu, and BBQ chicken tacos. I will skip to the end- yep, you guessed it, Bland. We did have the bulgogi egg roll, I do want to touch on this only because I was so mad at myself once we left I dug Into the reviews. These are one of the most positive commented items, BUT those comments are from over a year ago. Overall, 11$ for two small egg rolls cut in half is ridiculous. Then if you bite/taste just the egg roll, there is a 5% taste of bulgogi sauce. Which again is so explosive of a sauce. But, If you drown the egg roll in the creamy mild sriracha sauce then the egg roll is ok. If you forget what it should taste like and just concentrate on how did they make the sauce with no heat, then you could get at least a 2-2.5 star. Server deserves 5 stars, Food deserves 2 stars.

As was not suprised to find this store is even more dilapidated than the last time I was there. Honestly, it looks like a front for something else... the store is super sketch and I'd think twice before eating anything edible/perishable from here. I highly doubt they worry about rotating stock ot would pass a health inspection if Anchorage bothered to do them anymore. They do have a pretty large kitchenware section (which is what I was looking for) but I was unable to locate what I needed. In general, I recommend looking elsewhere.
