Very mediocre, okay in a pinch, not expensive. Usually places with various protein/rice combos have room for more customization than this place. It's not possible to get the poke without onions, or to get just carrots without cabbage (since it's a mix). And the rice didn't taste seasoned at all. The sauce was a highlight, but more would have been better. I also think they should just stick with salmon/tuna poke and eliminate the Krab- it's on the low end of imitation crab that I've eaten. We have been ordering here for years. We never look at the menu because we have been ordering the same thing when we come here, for years. All of a sudden they changed the recipe and started putting these noodles on everything, and SO many. We don't ever need the menu- we just call in and order what we always get. This time, all of a sudden it's different. Changed "about a month ago". "It's on our menus" Should probably notify people of a menu change when they call in- for a good while, we last ordered 1/31, so it is not like it was a grossly substantial amount of time has gone by. So annoyed half of what I paid for is something we don't want to eat. My first time here was takeout during quarantine. It was easily to call and place an order. You can order online as well, but you'll have to use a CC and I wanted to pay cash. I went with the chicken katsu bop drizzled with a teriyaki + sweet mayo sauce. I added two dumplings with a side of island style pasta salad. Everything was very good and I'm glad I got the regular size as it was super filling and probably could've fed two people easily. It was very good, but stingy on the sauce if you ask me. I really enjoyed everything. I splurged the $1.50 for a chocopie which is like a Moon Pie and that was good. I'd like to go back and try more. During quarantine they have tables you go to to collect your food with your name on it for contactless takeout. The price should be more like $12 or $13 but it's actually $16 or more the larger you go. So I did think it cost a little more than it should. A bit over priced for what I would consider just "okay" Korean food. I had the beef bop and paid for a larger size. The portion for over $18 was meh. I couldn't eat it all, i just thought I'd have more leftover. Guess I'm still adjusting to inflation. I had to pay over $3 for two eggs which I'd consider standard for bim bim bop. The eggs were over cooked and had no runny yolk for the dish. I had to pay over $4 more for kimchi and it was okay kimchi. The food itself was tasty but just such a down played Americanized version of bim bim bop that I was just slightly disappointed with it. This is my favorite "go to" spot in Anchorage when I don't know what to do for dinner and I don't feel like cooking. The bowls are excellent and each can be customized to certain extents. The flavors are well balanced. All orders are made fresh when you order them. Since Covid has started, they have not changed much in what they do (in a positive way). Top Bop far exceeded my expectations. I can see why it's so popular. A Korean meal under the 10 dollar mark is unheard of in Anchorage, and somehow they've managed to pull it off. And they didn't just squeak by, they pulled straight into the winner's circle. The bibimbap bowl is really REALLY delicious. They get you in and out super fast- like, faster than Mc Donalds. We placed a work lunch order, 5 stars on the execution and timing. We had something like 15 large bowls, in every configuration at lunch time. I ordered a Dynamite with tempura shrimp on top, shrimp were perfect! My complaint was the sweetness of the sauce at level 3. Imitation crab is sweet by nature, as are small shrimp, and scallops. So, those in combination with the sauce made me feel like I was having seafood dessert. Definitely wasn't a deal breaker, I would try it again with a little more spice. This is a kind of local, "fast-casual" concept that Anchorage is sorely lacking in. What do I mean? You order at the counter. You get a bowl with stuff in it. Prices are beyond reasonable. Only other place like this I can think of is the strip mall location of Yak & Yeti. I got the Japchae bowl and it was delicious, cheap, and perfectly portioned. I was happy to hear Top Bop would be opening a Midtown location. I had eaten at the Muldoon location and enjoyed it, but I wanted one closer to my work/home. Top Bop puts a fresh spin on fast food and Asian fusion at reasonable prices. The midtown Top Bop is a great addition to the strip mall on Minnesota near Benson. I work nearby so this is a great place to grab a quick solid lunch. Adding to the convenience of this place are the online ordering and delivery options. I typically get the poke bop with regular spicy sauce. The portion sizes are generous. If you just want lunch the regular size is plenty, and the large size is great if you're sharing or you want leftovers (or you just have a really big appetite). The fish is pretty good quality. This place ruined my whole day because a cockroach came at us while we were waiting for our food. Asked for a refund and will never go back. I won't even go for a door dash anymore. What was worse is the lady didn't seem phased by that damn roach! She said yeah we have been working on this issue. Appalled they are still open like they don't have a pest problem! I've had top bop many times and it's consistently delicious and filling. Apparently they recently changed their spice scale to where it ranges from 1 to 5 rather than 10. I remember a significant jump being from 7 to 8 but 8 was my comfort zone of spice + flavor. The dumplings are one of my favorite things to add to every order and I typically go for the spicy pork. The ratio of rice to toppings is always on point and I appreciate the price for the quantity. It's also awesome that they deliver! I like to change my up order between three different dishes (depends on my mood lol). I love the number one, sometimes I sub for the chicken. Always sauce on the side. Surprisingly good Korean food here considering the location. We got the BibimBop, the Spicy Pork Bop and the Chicken Bop. Each of them were really good, extremely fresh and flavorful and huge portions. My personal favorites were the Beef and Spicy Pork. We also ordered the Shrimp Tempura and they were quite good. The shrimp was frozen but the batter was delicious and perfectly crisp and it tasted great with the sweet and savory glaze they had on it. Ok guys! This is just yummy! I've never been here and feeling too lazy to go get something so delivery it is lol. I never been so I ordered a little bit (which there is no little here :)) off the menu. Dynamite bowl which I got the large and it's HUGE, chicken bowl and their Hawaiian style macaroni salad which had corn in it and really added a freshness to it. Top Bop is having their soft opening today in their new midtown location, located in the same plaza mall as Dollar Zone and Pie Stop. Top Bop is one of the many growing Korean restaurant stops located in Anchorage. They have a variety of different Korean bowls that include Japchae & poke. The prices a very reasonable, and the food is made with loving care. The atmosphere in the midtown location is very warm. I was greeted by four friendly staff members and the owner. Today, for their soft opening, they have their sides for free, as well as a free Pepsi or Sunkiss soda. I had edamame for my side. It's very fresh. For my main order I chose he Dynamite Bop, which I must say is explosively delicious. They give you a very generous amount of seafood in that specific dish. Was pleasantly surprised to see they do delivery (so excited, we tried the place in Muldoon and liked it there). Not only do they deliver but you can order online and it was super easy! Love online ordering, sometimes after a long day at work I'm just not in the mood to call and place an order. We ordered teriyaki bop, dynamite bop (added an egg and upgraded to a large size portion... again love the options), Hawaiian style macaroni salad, kimchi, miso soup and an extra rice. Was delivered in less than 30 minutes. Everything was so good! I will definitely order from them again or just stop in. So happy they have a new spot on my side of town. Due to COVID they do not let you sit down inside, (which is understandable) you can order online or go inside and order. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. But for fast food they are a bit slow. I waited 20 mins which I don't understand because my food wasn't fried. I only gave them a three star because of the wait. I know it does not take this long to put this food together. But even though I waited way longer than normal top bop is still one of my favorite fast food Asian cuisine places. Affordable, Delicious, and Friendly: I can't find a serious fault with Top Bop. Every time I've used either carry-out or delivery, they bring out my food promptly and without issue. Even when I asked for extra meat in a large bowl, someone found a way to cram all that beef into it, which easily lasted me two full meals. I had no problem cleaning out the entire bowl. Luckily, the insanely customizable menu allows you to create any combination you could ever want! When I ordered delivery, the food came either exactly on time or even EARLIER than I asked. I will say though that the sides and special drinks can be a bit expensive considering the amount you get. That Tai tea though tastes like liquid happiness. Overall, Top Bop is economic, tasty, and friendly. Their $13-15 bowls can last you about 2 meals, the plethora of sauces allows for everyone to find the perfect amount of spice (lvl3 and lvl4 are by far the best), and the polite staff greets you as you enter and are more than happy to accommodate to your wants. This has quickly become my new go-to spot for a quick, lazy but delicious meal. :) read more
